The man who played the first move was a Norwegian who won a charity auction where the prize was to play the first move in game 3. It cost him 50.100 NOK (5250 euros). He said in an interview after the game that he said good luck to Magnus but he was so much in the zone that he didn't even respond:)

Glad that you had a good time with the 'agadmator community' in London. Congratulations on 300k subscribers! It was to be expected that there would be a couple of draws given the closely matching strengths of the two players. My prediction: it is Carlsen with white (perhaps game 4) who is going to take a bold chance, and give us a 'juicy' game.

I think I heard the commentators saying how even Carlsen looked bored by the match half way through. I don't know what the best solution is necessarily, but doing a variety of openings would be my guess. Like you said, at this point it just seems like a battle of who can memorize more variations of a line. Not the most fun way to play chess, in my opinion. P.S. Congrats on 300k!!

I worry that this match will go the same way as the last one where they abandon chess and go to rapid and blitz to determine the outcome. I hope that doesn't happen because I think that is reprehensible. If you want a blitz champion have a blitz match. If want a rapid champion, well you get it. The only reason I hate draws is because they lead to non-classical chess outcomes that are not acceptable to me. I am frankly surprised that this is acceptable to anyone. Hopefully, these two can come to a result that doesn't lead to nonsense like rapid or blitz games. We'll see.

If it goes to blitz, then Carlsen will likely win. I don't think blitz is Caruana's strong point. So we may see interesting chess yet.

Absolutely right. They should play on classic until one wins, tie break style, sudden death type of thing

I read somewhere that in order for them to get a decisive result, it would take 300 matches based on the rating difference of only 2 points.

Munafik Sekali Nah you're a joke compared to him. Stop acting like you're the god of chess and pretending like you know better than these prodigies. The game is always developing and improving Carlsen would now easily beat Kasparov on peak due to the more advanced theory. There are so many early queen trade matches because sometimes, the players wanna go down the safe route. Fischer did the same with Spassky. Not every match will be exciting.

To answer your last questions, I found this game is a bit more boring than the first two. Specially after the queen trade. Oh and of course I'm waiting your videos for these games, live coverage is annoying. Why listen to people talk for hours when everything that has to be said can be said in so much less?

This is simply boring.. since the first gamr caruana plays it like he has something hiding and he simply hides it until the last game.. he does not play to win he plays to draw the game.. i know in high level you kinda have to play for the draw cuz while playing for the win you can make the mistake that costs you the game but still its boring. And because carlsen always goes for sicilian i believe now sicilian is a lot better than the others cuz alpha zero was starting with d4 too. And he was okey with the french defense. But it was starting in black with berlin defense too i guess. İdk but these complete engine games are simply boring..

yeah true enough. I think it's the fault of the scoring system, in my opinion a draw shouldn't even have any value. That would make the competition more competitive like it should be.

His meet up group would need at least 71 people, for there to be at least 1 female. (0.014*72 = 1.008) Edit: the calculation in the brackets points to justified presence not probability of presence.
