@@bhagyaakalanka2433 🫠🤦‍♂️ they didn’t qualify….abasov was a world cup semifinalist. By ur own logic anish giri and wesley so should have been a part of the candidates. But, get this They Didn’t QUaliFY. if abdusuttorov or artemiev were semifinalists they would have made it to candidates but get this they Didn’t. Candidates aren’t decided randomly the slots are announced well in advance and players have ample time to aim for one of the slots if they couldn’t get one they weren’t able to perform when they needed to. So the point is that despite abasov getting a slot which frankly should have been for Magnus, he has drawn half the games he played. the games he lost weren’t all blowouts either, except his game against alireza he has lasted 50 moves in all his losses one great game where it took 80 moves with gukesh. If you dont get how that is very well done for someone rated a 100ELO lower you dont understand the difference btw their capabilities. Its like asking a freshman to take a sr. yr. course and he doesn’t completely shit the bed

1600 "brilliancy": When Gukesh "goes after the weaknesses" ard 9:50 in the video, yes White would need the bishop to counter Blacks knight defender, but why not Bc4?. Its an excellent place for the bishop. If the rook goes for the pawn on c3 *and* threatens the developing bishop, Bb5 as black no longer has two rooks on the b file and the rooks are getting cutoff from each other by a bishop-pawn pair. If Black then threatens with a6, Bxd7, well supported, or even Rxd7 threatening Blacks Queen. If Rook does not take pawn after Bishop develops to c4, them perhaps d7 pawn could go for it, by moving to d5, but then en passant capture of the black pawn again threatens the queen and the capturing pawn, white's e pawn, becomes a passed pawn defended by doubled up rooks. Fishers bishop (at c4) is defended by the white queen. Where can the black queen go? Update: Engine line does take the pawn with the rook and if the queen is threatened can still retreat to c8 and white is in trouble. So yeah nothing there it seems Good review and recap Agad, thank you. We are at maxQ indeed, or thereabouts, two seasoned players and a young gun tied for first place with 2 games to go! What more could we the chess minions ask for? Exciting stuff indeed.

Watching the livestream, I was surprised that Abasov didn't resign at 13:40. White's position was so hopeless that even an amateur like me could win for Black. I would be surprised if any of your regular viewers missed RxR. The principle of overstretching a defensive piece (in this case, the White King) is one of the principles I learned from Agadmator that have so improved my play. Just the other day I had a very satisfying win against Lichess level 5 where the engine and I had equal resources in the end-game. I asked myself what have I learned from Agadmator that could win me this game, and overstretching a piece came instantly to mind. Very similar to this game, I realized that I could force the engine's King to commit to defending one impending passed pawn or the other but that it couldn't defend both.
