I saw this. If you don't like survival movies, you'll think it's boring. If you do like survival movies, you'll love it. I love survival movies.

I was scrolling through Netflix and I found this movie. And I absolutely loved it 🥰.

Blessed are those that gave their lives for us all so that we can enjoy our freedom.

My Grandfather was in the Navy. One day he was telling me about this story & I told him on the death bed that I would make Against The Sun!

What I find odd is that people comment, oh not another American Film praising their "Hero's" whereas if they bothered to look around there are a myriad of Foreign films, brilliantly made and espousing the deeds, actions, heroics of their country men and women. Some of the best films made about the Korean War for example, are those made by the Koreans and are far more realistic and brutal in their portrayal because they do not concern themselves with the dreaded R rating for a start. Russia has also produced some stunners with regards to WW2 but have not concerned themselves with subtitles as such. Just broaden your horizons and you'll see much much more.

GREAT MOVIE!!!!!!

All the haters who base the entire movie on the trailer. This is nothing like Unbroken except for the parts on the ocean. Unbroken showed you a lot more into life as a POW in Japan and how harsh it was. in ATS, it showed what 3 real life men did to survive when they crashed their plane in the Pacific. Hell even if this was just like Unbroken it's still a hell of a good movie and worth the $3-$7 dollars to buy it. I purchased it last year on iTunes and don't regret it one bit. I guarantee you'll be on the edge of your seat multiple times throughout the movie.

Is this the group that was mentioned in Unbroken who's record for surviving stranded those guys beat?

It's sad, a lot of people were stranded at sea in WWII... tons of ships were sunk by submarines or otherwise and the resources weren't available for massive operations. Every nightmare you can imagine up to unmarked ships full of Allied POWs going down and nobody rescuing them. Loads of people abandoned ships and planes and were never heard from again. Sometimes it was recorded and there were radio transmissions, sometimes there weren't. There's a website you can find pretty easily through Google about U-boats and sunken ships and their crews and history.

Read a true story about a young woman and three other people who were stranded off the US East cost in a small life raft for around 10 days after their schooner sank in a storm. It took less than a week for people to start drinking sea water, which changed their electrolyte balance and caused them to go insane. One guy dove into the ocean and said he was going to 7-Eleven for a pack of cigarettes. In less than 100 yards sharks got him. He realized his mistake but it was too late. Sad and very scary.

Based on the book "The Raft" no doubt. An incredible story of survival. Most do not realize we lost more planes in the Pacific due to them getting lost and going down at sea than from enemy action. No telling how many perished in their small rafts.

This is a movie well worth your time & much better than I was expecting. Made for a fraction of the Unbroken budget, for my money this was a more gripping & entertaining movie.

This movie should have been made long ago as it is based on the book 'The Raft: The Courageous Struggle of Three Naval Airmen Against the Sea' about the true story of three Navy airmen down in the Pacific in a raft. The book was written by a Honolulu Advertiser editor Robert Trumbull and was first published in 1942. One of my favorite books from my childhood in the 1960s. The book appeals to young boys as it's an adventurous tale but probably was a difficult sell as movie since: Only three guys, no women, no super big adventures, just three guys who use their wits to survive. So no, this is not a rip-off of 'Unbroken' but it is yet another true story of incredible survival against all odds.

It's sad it's going out just after unbroken... Everybody is going to say it's the Same movie

Adrift without food, water, compass or signaling equipment, the men (played by Garret Dillahunt, Tom Felton and Jake Abel) fish, swim and pray for rain. At the risk of ruining the suspense, I can divulge that they get it.

already watch both unbroken and against the sun, both are true story but its different story unlike unbroken the whole story is on the ocean,you can't say its a same movie or cheap version just because the trailer show a similar scene from another movie!,i mean there's alot of pilot that crash into pacific ocean during the world war 2 some survive some are not,don't judge a movie by its trailer! sorry my bad english just want to make it clear

well, there is a first...never saw a TBD featured in a movie b4..unless you count Midway.I always assumed the middle crew member must be the radio operator, but looks like it was the job for the rear gunner..middle guy must have been navigator..

I wonder if this'll have all the wonderful *war* *movie* *clichés*, like an excessive proportion of the actors having *deep* *south* and *New* *York* *accents* but being British in reality, an explosion going off followed by *high* *pitch* *ringing*, someone's *head* getting *spontaneously* *shot*, flashback narrations, small units having heterogeneous yet *familiar* *character* *archetypes*, and more!
