WorkingNation editor-in-chief Ramona Schindelheim kicked off the coverage Monday morning during Scripps' Morning Rush program with a conversation with anchor Rob Nelson about the impact of ageism in the workforce.

Age discrimination operates all the time, against every worker. Amazingly enough, thise who regard the aged as "those people" never stop to think what they are doing to themselves-- THEY will be old, if they live that long. In most other countries, age is understood as an achievement, not a vulnerability. The aged are valued and respected for their experience and judgment. In America, by contrast, promoting youth and downplaying age is what advertisers do to sell to those in their peak earning years. It is simply about money, nothing more. We become empty, as a people, when we succumb to such greedy materialism.
