Age discrimination operates all the time, against every worker. Amazingly enough, thise who regard the aged as "those people" never stop to think what they are doing to themselves-- THEY will be old, if they live that long. In most other countries, age is understood as an achievement, not a vulnerability. The aged are valued and respected for their experience and judgment. In America, by contrast, promoting youth and downplaying age is what advertisers do to sell to those in their peak earning years. It is simply about money, nothing more. We become empty, as a people, when we succumb to such greedy materialism.

I was a VP in large pharma company and left at 60 yrs old. Also an RN who ran multiple Emergency depts. OVERQUALIFIED for lesser sales roles. No one is interested in older workers. Retirement is boring and I really miss intense roles where you are required to make big calls. Never really thought this would happen but it is a fact

Couldn’t just stop at age, could you? Focus on one and we’ll do better. Your ‘filteration’ is skewing the message.

Age 50 has been the standard layoff age for decades, nothing has changed, we cost more, have more medical issues, not everyone has kept up with new technology, we cost the company too much. Used to be that retirement was after 20 years of work so companies like K-Mart used to lay off people at 19 years to avoid paying pensions. I made it to 56 before I was laid off. The key is to plan for age 50 retirement, made my first million the month I turned 50, @56 I made it to $1.55 million and was ready for early retirement as my career ended.

This is a serious issue in the workplace today. Had a close friend talk with me about how there were comments in his workplace about an older employee being obsolete rather than a valuable resource. The norms in our culture need to change regarding this.

Im a network engineer. I try not yo guve away my age in my CV but its hard when covering the depth of my experience. I was flown to an 8nterview and when i entered the room it was ibvious they didnt expect a senior. They were rude. I knew my chances were no goid so i rold the in no uncertain terms that you dont get someone with my experience right out of college, especially with a great work ethic..one think they asked me was hiw do you feel about taking direction from someone much younger than me. I told them if they had put that oerson in that position i would geve them all the necessary respect that comes with the oosition regardless of age, sex or race. Needless to say i was not iffered the position and tbh was glad wasn't

Right, Lets make a little more profit off your seniors labor is what I hear. Seniors should be able to work If they desire but continuing to make policy that puts retiring out of reach for way too many is disgusting.

I’m currently finishing up my IT Support program with Merit America. I chose the IT Support track. I started February 21st this year and I got my Cert April 28th. Now it could take longer but most of the curriculum is self paced. I’d definitely say it’s worth it for anyone wanting or thinking of trying the program

Awareness of CKD is highly important. When I informed my x manager at work in a Rotherham labour council children's home that I had to start dialysis within 2 weeks he made me walk through the home singing dead man walking and laughing. He got all the children and other staff to laugh at me before getting me in the office and threatening me with the sack and asking if I'm a liar. He then proceeded to phone me or my dialysis unit every dialysis session for 3 weeks demanding I prove I was on a machine or be sacked. I tried to make a complaint but was told ' you have had one dialysis session. You must be cured. Why do you need more dialysis and why can't you work full time. We have no qualified staff' Then more threats of being sacked if I didn't stop attending dialysis. Horrible horrible experience...

Shaon is very average at paying people too. Ask anyone that worked for him when he did that bowl game. Ask the Marine Corps. No seriously, call them and specifically ask how many complaints they got from his employees. Flat out told my our family that he "misappropriated over $1.8 million" when my nephew was invited to his game, which was AWFUL. Didn't pay the two guys that were the only reasons my nephew went to the game. Then, declared bankruptcy. I'm pretty sure that's his second bankruptcy, and this was over a decade ago. My brother was going to go beat the hell out of him at one of his camps a year later, but we calmed him down. Complete human excrement ladies and gentlemen.
