Hi, I love your videos, it's a long time i'm thinking about doing a youtube channel about nutrition in general (I'm vegan btw) cause there is virtually NOTHING in my language (italian). I check a lot of channels and info cause often in my country (I live in France now and it's not so different) lacking the direct feeds in a foreigner language a lot of infos come from standard uneducated people that mix everything is un-official (like anti-vax, omeopathy, cristallopathy, vibropathy, idiopaty whatever). I like science, and I like your channel.

my coworker asked why i'm vegan and i said part of the reason is i dont want to be bed ridden or stuck in a hospital in the last stage of my life. He said that i could get struck by a car and die at any time so i might as well enjoy the delicious things in life, like eating meat. 😐 umm yeah, cus THAT is gonna be in my final thoughts as i die, " i should have ate more animal products " 😂 ughhhh

LOL! Ok, and if you don't get hit by a car, then what? "Well shit. I have diabetes, 100 pounds overweight, and had a heart attack. I should have walked into traffic." Sure, any of us could die at any time but modern medicine mostly prevents that. My mom ate Hostess Cupcakes EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. and smoked for 50 years. She lived long enough to be 100 - 150 pounds overweight and get lung cancer. She didn't die vibrantly in a car accident. She languished for a year getting chemo therapy and her last few months were spent in bed with her children having to clean up after her. She fell one morning when no one was around. She was unable to pick herself back up and laid on the sidewalk for over an hour before some random guy happened to see her and helped her up. She had bruises all over her body and her last remaining health very quickly went away after that. Your co-worker is working their way to that exact future.

I have photos from that time and my skin looked terrible, I had bags under my eyes, and I was stark white. Now that I have been vegan for about 5 years and I'm 28 people tell me I look like I'm in my early 20's all the time. I've even had people look at my old ID photos and say that I look much younger now, even though I'm bald! The power of plants baby!

One of the saddest things I witness is this arbitrary idea that because you're old you should stop exercising which makes no sense at all, as long as you're not borderline a walking corpse you can exercise, especially if you've been doing it for a long time. Old people give up on their active lifestyles all the time not realizing that doing so will only make the problem worse. I agree that some people use the yolo mentally as an excuse to do stupid shit. But honestly, some of the best decisions I have ever made come from that same mentality. That "live fast, die young" thing is sadly more common than most people think. I work with a lot of young people (20s), and I sometimes, if asked about it, explain why I'm in the process of going vegan. The response, almost always, is some version of "but I don't want to live until I'm 100". They don't seem to realize that growing that old *and being unhealthy the whole time* is completely unnecessary. But these are the same people who diet solely consists of chicken tenders and various forms of cheese, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. It's hurts me to see young people so ignorant and uncaring about their diet and health.

As a dental hygienist I can let you in on something I was told in my training: There is no science to support the notion that 'pyorrhea' has anything, not one bit, to do with aging. Now known as periodontal disease, disease of what's supposed to hold your teeth in tight, it's just a slow-smoldering infection. Your body's ability to resist infection can be improved by not smoking/drugging/eating trash, great nutrition and cleanliness. No one can see into the nooks and crannies in teeth themselves much, so get some coaching on the cleanliness part. People leap to the conclusion that since family members had it, then it's genetic, so they roll on their backs and play dead, when very little effort and some hard science is all it takes to have a healthy mouth: the joy of chewing power and seeing other people's smiles ""age" while you stay young and awesome. If you want that, get it - it's EASY!

Lol! You're so funny! Great video, I'm always disturbed at how people in our culture age. It's not normal for thousands of 'healthy' people to just degenerate to look like mutated humanoids by their 60s or need to pop cholesterol medication like tic-tacs! Also, I'm still continuously learning that vegan diets are so easy to be unhealthy, as it's so easy to fall into being a 'junk food vegan', vegan pizza, deep-fried vegan cuisine, greasy foods, etc, but I recently had (another) scare that made me realize I can't just get away with eating anything I want just because it lacks animal protein. Vegan meals with leafy greens and whole foods always feels better and makes my skin better too. Also... Ellsworth Wareham... was? Is. He's still alive. 102 yrs young!

It's sad that we're so scared of being miserable as we grow old, when it's an almost entirely preventable situation. Yes, growing old decreases mobility and worsens bodily functions, but with the right lifestyle and diet the vast majority of people can fully enjoy their lives until they die of old age, with minimal pain.

People always hope that their loved ones will age healthfully, and die painlessly in their sleep, but it usually doesn't work out like that. Everyone who has died in my family endured years of suffering before succumbing. My father spent his last 20 years having strokes, infections, surgeries, tests, being attached to oxygen machines, having painful bladder catheters changed monthly, swallowing tons of daily medications, and so on. Maybe more folks would prioritize a healthy lifestyle over "fun" if they saw what aging and death can really be like.

Similarly someone can be extremely healthy and be on a whole foods plant based diet and die from heart disease (I think). Now I could be wrong as I haven't got anything to back this up. It's just what I have seen. Everything regarding nutrition research revolves around percentages. If it was as simple as, be vegan? be healthy, then there wouldn't be any conflict

It's simple, many People don't need any help, I'm almost 50, eat a wide variety of plant and animal Foods and drink wine and I'm still skinny, athletic, look younger than most People my age and I feel great. No chronic diseases and perfect teeth. Most People in my Family are like this as well, so we have a genetic Advantage, I suppose. Anyway, you'd have to Show me how I can basically improve on perfect before I cut out many of the things I enjoy.

5 months ago my doctor advised me to stop the standard American diet.... No sugar no caffeine no chocolate no tomatoes and before I felt like I was going to die now I feel so much better... My skin alone is totally different. I used to be a hand cream junkie now my skin is so soft without any hand cream... I eat mostly vegetables, fruit, oatmeal without sugar.. Add 1/4 cup raisins for sweetness, blueberries and banana, and apples, avacado, almost everyday. Replaced meat with bean burgers or lentil stew with rice, also no gluten, use cornmeal or rice flour and feel alive again

My grandparents are in the last years of their lives: they are both severely limited in mobility due to inflammation of every joint in their bodies (complicated in my grandmother due to her weight), and both have most of the common chronic diseases associated with old age. Both make frequent comments about looking forward to dying, simply because it will be a relief from the pain they are in. They live in an assisted facility because they quite literally cannot do anything for themselves anymore. My grandfather, who used to love cooking, now has cafeteria food delivered to their room because he cannot stand up long enough to use the stove; my grandmother, who used to enjoy craft projects, now spends her time flipping channels on the TV because she can't move her hands without pain. I love them both dearly, but seeing them so crippled and unhappy at the ends of their lives makes me realize, I have zero desire to suffer the same fate. I want to be that kickass little old lady who still does all her own gardening and takes care of her own house when she's 100 years old. I do NOT want to repeat their mistakes - and that includes their diet.

Could you please help me understand why a body builder style of protein supplement containing whey powder is bad for the body? Is plant based vegan protein powder better in general for those who arent vegan? T. Danger The whey proteins get thru the gut and into yr blood to cause inflammation. Get a vegan product?
@malinrobbins7779
@malinrobbins7779 7 жыл бұрын
T. Danger The proteins used in body-building are animal proteins. When animal protein enter the blood stream it begins to acidify the blood. The blood cannot become acidic because if it did then you would die. In order to prevent this your body takes some of the calcium from your bones and puts it into the blood stream in order to balance it out. This continous process is what of the causes of weakening bones. Also when animal protein reaches the intestines it doesn't run through fast enough and begins to ferment into hydrogen sulfide (which is a rotten egg smelling gas). Hydrogen sulfide is a very strong carcinogen and a genotoxin which means it's good at destroying genes. Plant proteins are used and run through your entestines before they can ferment and do not acidify your blood. You don't really need a large quantity of protein in order to build muscle, your will always use the same level, just eat plenty of calories and you will get enough protein okie-dokie 👍. (edit) I have found out recently that my protein idea may not be true. If so, you can a tell them that vegans were found to have higher levels of blood protein than omnivores
