Engineers don't have to deal with the nitty gritty when someone gets hurt/buried in a trench collapse, so eff the letter if you don't think it's safe. Betcha most engineers would chit themselves working in a deep open cut trench at 3/4:1 - looks good on paper, not so much 12' down with a pile of spoils putting a hefty surcharge load next to it.

In underground hard rock mining that’s just another day, that’s why GOD made explosives. Drill, Blast, Muck, then repeat, over an over again.

Is there a name for that type of bucket? Is it made for rock?

From the soils report did you guys bid it correctly? 12’ a day? So rocky crazy!

Most of this rock is very rounded. Are you near a very old river and this was once it's bed? My other thought is was this covered by glacier or an ice sheet millions of years ago?

Yeah dig in that ground all day you feel like you got run over by a bus towing a train I remember when I was in my 20s though ground like that didn’t bother me a bit now am I paying for it bigger the machine the better but still they hardly make them big enough to smooth out that ride

I would suggest you make yourself a GoPro mount with a big magnet off of an old speaker.

I worked as a Operator for almost 15 years and you bring back some memories some good some Bad. I've laid a lot of pipe, Oil and gas and municipal work. Mostly in Wyoming where Rock is always a problem, Sometimes even having to blast.
