Air Dam Delete | Chevy Colorado | Front Bumper Mod

I remove the air dam from the front bumper of my 2nd gen Chevy Colorado. It was easier than I thought it would be. You don't have to remove the entire front bumper to delete the air diffuser. The process is the same for the Z71 and ZR2, except the Bison. I believe the GMC Canyon is also a similar process but I do not have any experience with the Canyon.

I know it wasn't a full tutorial on how to remove it, but the way you did it and the angles and views you gave helped me remove the one on mine. Thanks for the information in the video and the great content and quality to go along with it.

This tutorial worked well. As tools go, I also included a 1/4” offset ratchet wrench along with a t-15 hex bit. This had an even smaller clearance than the socket wrench w/t15. This combo worked out well with a couple of the tough access screws.

Thank you for making this video. You did an awesome job documenting this modification. I plan to do the same in a week or so (in preparation for an expedition in the north of Quebec) and this will save me a ton of headaches.

Can tell any difference in mileage since you removed the air dam?

After you get the front air dam out, can you turn the clips the other way so that the screws are more easily removed from the bottom when and if you reattach the air dam?

Hello, Cam. I honestly can't remember it has been so long ago. I flipped a couple of the U-Nuts so the screws would not point out from the body of the vehicle after I was finished. IIRC, there was not an option to have those ones flipped while the air dam was installed and flipping the other U-Nuts might make it more difficult to access. Thanks for commenting, Cam. What size is the drill bit that you used to take off the first nut?

Hey there, Will. The first bolt I removed was a 10 mm Hex. The hardware I encountered was: 7 mm Hex Bolt, 10 mm Hex Bolt, Torx 15 screw

I have a 2022 GMC Canyon AT4 and of course the air dam is on it. Glad I found your video as it gives more information than any other. How long did it take? Was thinking about having the dealer take it off at my first oil change but depends if they are going to charge an arm and a leg. Shouldn't be a big deal as they take them off on the trucks with the off-road package. Thanks agan.

Hi, Skip. It didn't take too long. Filming added time to the project, for sure. I did not want to start the project because I figured it would be a hassle. Once I got into it, it was not bad at all and I felt good about the whole thing. I guess if you have the tools, a garage, and something to elevate the truck a little bit, there's no excuse not to do it yourself.
