Feel quite privileged to have a real Air New Zealand ATR pilot give these tutorials! They were great thanks so much. Amazing to fly these NZ routes I've always wanted to in an ATR. in VR = magic.

MSFS seems to have trouble with elevator forcing excess pitch moments. Unless the SIM can trim out the vertical pitch moments it gets unrealistically jerky. The best flight model currently is the A2A Comanche which uses a separate set of flight model numbers.

What's the trick to get the magenta VNAV path? I've done it once somehow ... but every time I lower altitude, the TOD moves closer to destination.

Your videos are excellent and much appreciated. However I am having a major problem understanding the Vertical Profile Guide (Magenta box in PFD) like what makes it appear initially? In this case, was it the ToD? While in vnav. Any advice will be gratefully appreciated.

Is there a timeline on a fix for the VNAV? They've acknowledged the GPS approach issues which is good at least!

Many thanks for an excellent tutorial! The aircraft is absolutely great. Been waiting for for a long time to fly my favorite regional airline routes in Scandinavia and other parts of Europe. Btw. Does anyone know how and when the IDLE GATE is used and if it is possible bind any controller button command to it.

In the real aircraft it is handled automatically (unless you lose power) so you really don't need to mess with it in the sim. In RL it has some quirks so pilots do monitor it to make sure it flips as required (I believe it is triggered by WoW) but those quirks don't exist in the sim

What is Alt Star vs. Alt? And in cruise at FL200 I'm getting 188 kts indicated in the notch setting. Advancing the throttles beyond that does nothing. It seems like a slow speed, yellow arc isn't until 250. Is this normal?

at TOD, be ALT hold then press VNAV and it should work like a charm.

Hello just when I arrive at TOD if I press VNAV I stay to the initial altitude. If I decrease my altitude the TOD go fare

At cruise you are checking your arrival and you have the FMC in Flt Plan PLAN.. I can't figure out where that is. I go into the Flt Pln mode with the key, but I see nothing labeled "Plan" and I have clicked everywhere. What video is this mode covered in? Without this it is difficult to know what is going to be needed. On the 737 I could put in a lower altitude if cleared for it and not start the descent. In the ATR when I do this, the aircraft starts down immediately?

The PLAN is simply one of the available modes in the ND display. Use the click zones or spin the mode dial behind the throttle

How do you plan missed approach route into the FMS? I haven't seen you manually putting it into it in Episode 4, did I miss something? Can you plan it with Simbrief or you need to add manually by checking the approach charts?

Never mind, now I see that the missed approach part is automatically there when a Simbrief route is loaded into the FMC.

Do you not have to enter your landing elevation under cabin pressure? Doesn't that have to be done before t.o?

When landing alt shows blank in the window it is auto calculated by the FMS

@@dirtycasper Correct. I'm not sure it is simulated 100% properly, as I've never been able to manually set it either. But if you look at the CABIN PRESS panel (which in images I've seen of the RL aircraft actually say AUTO PRESS) there is a "SOURCE SEL" button which on the right side says FMS. If it is dark then it should be pulling from the FMS. If you press the button , MAN will highlight indicating it is in manual mode instead.

Just confirm this doesnt have the usual indicator on the ND of where you reached the selected altitude?? Its should be similar to the Airbus.

when I set the target altitude (to descend) TOD moves to where I should be at next point and VNAV PATH is nowhere to find, what am I doing wrong? (LNAV ON, VNAV+ALT ON), in the PMDG 737 when i set the next point altitude, the TOD circle stays where it was prior touching the knob. I don't get it.

Unfortunately the sound are not the greatest to match Flight idle to Ground idle and reverse as they are in in real life. When the props are in GI, you’ll definitely know!

@@aarondowden4244 Agreed. Definitely one of the weak spots at the moment which I hope can be addressed later on via a 3rd party or Asobo.

I can’t get the prop levers to go down to fuel shut-off. They just keep bouncing back up and I’ve tried everything I can think of, including resetting hardware binds, unplugging hardware, etc. Any suggestions?

You need to set up some key or button to TOGGLE FEATHER 1 and 2. Needs to be 1 and 2, and you can use the same button if you wish.

The same thing happened to me until I discovered that they have hidden pressure points: - To raise the lever: click on the lower right corner. - To lower the lever: click on the upper left corner. This is so for both levers.
