Polishing the cylinder to create a better air seal between the o-ring in the nozzle and cylinder head tube increasing FPS and consistency and ease of movement.

Also like to add after you clean airsoft gearbox parts with hot soapy water...dip in just warm water with no soap after to remove all the soap residue as it's a microscopic gummy layer :)

Im really digging these polishing applications. Can ask of you to go to the extreme and polish an entire gearbox shell? May not affect much performance wise but it would be talk of the team.

To a new cylinder head: nothing really. But on an old one thats covered in grease and dirt it will reduce friction between the nozzle and cylinder head. Also there tends to be a build up of grease within the tube, This process removes it creating a better air flow. Again no point on a new cylinder head but worth it on an (used) one. Also if you using an o-ring nozzle this process can make it slide a little easier.

I use to do the whole inside of the gearbox but to be honest the only area that needs doing on the actual gearbox itself is the piston rails. For the gear area the gears are suspended above the case so there is no direct contact between the two.

God, your gearbox must run cleaner than a cafeteria at Ikea.

Steven ZJ there’s an advantage to a cleaner cylinder and nozzle which is a better o-ring seal and higher consistency

@@Gattobuono A year late but maybe the dirt getting stuck between o rings and making tiny air leaks? Pretty dumb things that end up adding up
