When he says fight fire with water a life giving force is stronger than the destroyer. That's why these MC's can't speak to me, all men are not created equally -> I think he means that those who go against the grain, and choose to uplift & speak life rather than preach death, shouldn't be measured with the same ruler. Like a constructive vs destructive thing

This video is a prime example of why I love your vids (I can't even call them reactions because they're so much more than that). I generally consider "reaction videos" to be the laziest form of content on platforms such as KZfaq, but you add so much insight, knowledge and context to whatever it is you are watching that it is a disservice to you and what you do to put you in the "reactions" category. Keep doing what you do, man!

The knowledge and introspection you bring really adds to the experience. Love it. Many in the England owe a lot to Marcus Rashford of the England football team for feeding our poor kids this last year. Charity starts at home, if it's not your family it's your friends and neighbours.

When he said “no not all men are made equally” he is referring to both his mentality (no! fight fire with water) and his skills as an MC (these MC’s can’t speak to me) which were the bars just before that line.

Ironically some of our most talented hiphop artists have been pushed out because they speak politics. Akala, Chester P, Mic Righteous,Skinnyman, Lowkey, Black The Ripper, etc. etc. etc. I'd argue it's even worse for the artists of descent like Righteous or Lowkey.

@@svodcat7524 Mad respect for name dropping Chester P, that man deserves so much respect, and for what he does for his community! Mic Righteous and Lowkey trigger too many people just by their ethnicity alone, which maybe explains why this socially driven music is ignored by the masses…sadly :(

In the UK experiences of daily racism were a common experience in the 1950s and 1960s when some signs read 'No dogs, No blacks, No Irish', so clearly nationalist and class based racism from all angles and less melanin based than today. One day hopefully everyone cares less about the differences and realise we all have more in common than not.

I have just landed on this channel because every few months I like to see what youtube makes of and takes from Akala. I'm loving Mr Lboyd's comments more that any other American re-acter I have seen so far and hoping for the same quality of expression from his newer uploads. In my opinion Akala is the best at what he does; and what he does is deliver densely rich lectures that use near perfectly delivered rhyme and rhythm to emphasise why we should fight against those to seek to exploit us. Maybe not everyone's choice for a fun time party track, but it aint all fun times.

Napoleon's boys sadly used the Sphinx as target practice. The vast majority of lost noses on the statues happened during the Islamic invasions where disfigurement of the faces of statues was regularly used to undermine local cultures and histories, something which they still do to this day.

To add my unasked for two pence.. the line about not talking about white slaves now is similar to not talking about black slave masters. As an irish blooded guy, my mother moved here age 3 with her mother in the late 60s and the signs shown in places were, no blacks, no irish, no dogs. This shows that the racial issue (which is huge) is dictated by the hidden classism that we all forget

Very late to this reaction but the way I interpret 'no, all men are not made equally' is that all boys/children are made equally at birth but what you go on to do that makes you a man can be on very different levels. You'll often hear 'it'll make a man out of you' 'today you become a man' etc and this is the 'made' that I take it he's referring to.

I'm seeing the other side of the picture with the 'Given Whiteness' thing. Vilification. Othering, scapegoating and targeting for life's ills. Both things that you said tie-in. 'Europe fighting Europe' and 'Given Whiteness'. The perception from the black side of the equation, I didn't realise until this video, so thanks for tackling it 👍🏻 Europe fought Europe when the scope for global movement or even contact with other nations abroad, was a lot less. Territories were small. Differences a stone's throw away, if you allowed them to be. When Africa became a target and the physical differences being so apparent, suddenly, the othering became very easy...it was a huge 'cultural' (if you can call it that) shift that some white people today still can't let go of, or can't recognize the problem. So, from the pro-black white perspective, if that's even allowed 😏, it wasn't so much 'Given Whiteness', although I certainly understand that lean to the sentiment behind it, as much as 'Diminishing Blackness', which in my book...is even f*ing worse...and it clearly was some sort of sordid blueprint for the new dawn of 'Civilization' 😥 There's a vindictiveness in man, in general. It's how humans dominated as a species. The leaders of old knew how to bring that out of people...knew which buttons to press with the uneducated, the disaffected, the superstitious. The problem is, we are definitely not out of the woods, by a long shot. But, please remember...I'm not actually saying that it's in everyone and that's that... remember that sociopathic scum floats to the top in that 'civilization' and becomes the orchestrator of the matters of man. Changing what matters without them is what's needed, it's just an uphill struggle as the system is so ingrained in people's psyches, this far down the line. The denial is strong, despite all facts. But with me...trust me...the 'Burden of Shame' has run deep since I was just 7 yrs old. Less to do with my whiteness, as I'm not victimized for my race in any form that I'm truly aware of, but my nationality and the fact that we were being fed such bs legends of benevolence and Empire at school...when by 10 I was already reading books on Britain's involvement in the Transatlantic Slave Trade, the remnants and trophies of which were all around my hometown, built with slave trade proceeds by Freemasons. The 4 houses we were put in at school, for line ups etc.. were named after what we were told were 'Architects'. I was 7 yrs old. Only 3 were architects, the other a Tory Playboy who splashed the cash...their connection? They all splashed the Slave fund cash around the city. Yay.😔 and now nations that were subjugated by my own country, come here to look at the pretty buildings. It's a sick joke, to know all this stuff from 7-10 years old, let me tell you. It's why I totally get Akala. Met him, shaken his hand and had a quick chat after a gig. I could have talked to him for hours. Genuine, friendly, bright, talented mofo. Sorry for the essay. Keep doing what you do Mr Boyd.✌🏻 Always a pleasure.

I think one of the interesting things about your reaction to the difference between North Africa and Africa is that it has parallels with the European continent. We don't see ourselves as a continent (Brit here), we see it is a series of countries. Hence Brexit was voted for on the basis of national pride and returning to self-determination. Nationalism still holds a very powerful hold on our societies.

I like a specific subsection of hip hop. As long as it's not poppy and has some intelligence i like it. If it's dumb it down hip hop I stay clear. Hip hop isn't supposed to be dumb. It isn't supposed to promote murder or club bs. The subsection I like shouldn't be a subsection but rap is the same as country 99% is pop bs.

Oh yeh this was filmed shortly after the 2011 Tottenham riots, that's what he was referencing around 13 1/2 minutes, with the "that's the thing to come from August events, all the closet bigots started speaking their minds again"

I don't get how you rate Akala and Lowkey but also rate that Macdonald chump. I haven't seen your reactions to that Tom guy, but from your thumbnails it seems you do like him as well. Seems quite odd to me. Love your reactions though, great stuff man.

We all commit crime, simply by pay tax…. 🤬 wwoooooooowww! 🔥🔥🔥 Though while his view was militarily, I can see it also locally through numerous other state and federal policies, regulations and/or inaction. Love that line, humanity is nothing but a virus we choose.🔥 bars! MrB I almost understand not liking rap music as a whole, but liking a specific song or artist. It may be something or someone relatable, coupled by systemic tunnel vision within the music industry. I heard a conservative talk show host railing against rap music as only being destructive thug music. Being a DJ I called in as an expect and schooled the host that there is so much more (I.e. conscious emcees, Christian emcees, chill music, knowledge, etc) and then wrecked the host on some of the garbage pushed in Rock, Pop, R&B, Country, etc., and even Stalin’s use of certain classical music. I then introduced a single artist’s song (Lecrae) and they liked that artist because of the lyrics and feel…. But hated everything else. That’s humanity for you. If you think Columbus was the first to sail the ocean blue then you probably believe Elvis created Rock too!!!🔥🔥🔥 Dang he went for everything and everyone. Lmao. 😁 Again, won’t agree with everything spit or said, but crazy respect for the emcee and MrB.
