I bought a Silberstein in 2002 at the IWJG Show purely on its looks. I knew nothing about it but loved it. Life happens and needed to sell it a few years later and have regretted it ever since. Very cool. Thanks Tim for this content

I bought my gorgeous Krono Bauhaus in about 2003. It stopped working about 10 years ago. (I sort of went into mourning as I so loved wearing and using this watch. I tried so hard to find a place to fix it (I live in SW FL) and found that the company had closed and watch parts were extremely scarce. I have packed it away with all the original paraphernalia. In your interview, it is implied that there is the possibility of repair of these watches. Is there some practical path to follow to either repair it or if my budget can't bear the repair $,sell it to someone who will appreciate it?

Hey there, your Chrono Bauhaus chronograph is probably a dressed up Lemania 5100 movement if going by the sale/purchased period. It is a marvelous movement that sometimes tends to stop, usually due to the oils drying up or a problem with the date spring which could jump out of it position and cause the time showing part of the internals to stop function if it gets to them. I'm 99% sure your watch can be repaired and be brought to life. EDIT: I see you're in FL, could you confirm if on the caseback there is any mentio of the number 5100 or LWO 5100 ? If not could you type what the caseback says. Thanks

@@SKarlo051 LWO 5100 movement. 263/999 (11) It kept time well but the trouble began when I could no longer use the timing feature. I was very careful not to abuse those buttons It eventually stopped altogether. I would be interested to get either an estimate of the repair or an offer for the watch as is. thank you for answering my comment!

@@Wittylakitty those are excellent news. The movement is really bombproof and a good service should get it ticking again. Mind you the service costs are dependent on the scope of work needed and vary from state to state. I'm from Europe so I can't speak from experience but a 500$ lower end ballpark is where I'd expect it to start and could climb up to 2x depending on parts needed going by our rates where I'm from. From forum experience and owning a watch serviced by them, i can recommend RGM Watch Company in Pennsylvania - they were or still are the official service reps for several German brands that heavily relied on the movement that's in your watch. Cheapest one online in the states currently is going for around 3.5k$ with box and papers. Condition wise, if you still have the box and papers it could be a 3k to 5k watch but with needed repairs it's a can of worms for the buyer and could push a lot of people off from the piece if its in a need of service and repair unless it's going for a deep discount (think of it 50% or thereabout). Plus to keep in mind these are specific pieces and an acquired taste, so the market for them is usually pretty soft for the pre-owned. Let me know what you decide.

Hey, i live in Germany and also own a Silberstein LWO 5100 Baushaus Kronus 2 133/500 (3) with the black dial. Sadly the yellow crown pusher recently fell off, but thankfully i still have it! I took the Watch to my local jewler and he told me that the whole movement needs to come out to repair it..... Who would you reccomend in Germany for such a repair? im not sure if i want to give this watch to my local guy 😬 @@SKarlo051 thanks in advance!
