HELP!! So until recently I woulda sworn under oath that I had seen this movie (against my will💀). I was describing the trauma and my friend said "girl I don't know what you saw but it wasn't the first Paranormal Activity". I don't wanna google cause I'm scared of spoilers but after watching this one I think it might've been one of the sequels? It was def documentary/ found footage style. I remember there were kids, girls i think. It was SCARY 😭 (I think I remember a child being flung across the room by a phantom). And a lot of the footage was in black/white? Can ya'll tell me what movie this was (NO SPOILERS PLEASE!! If its a PA sequel we might watch it here cause I barely remember anything but a sense of dread 💀)

The scariest thing in this movie is Micah. He doesn't respect her wishes for privacy, he doesn't listen to her when she says she's scared, he treats her fear and concerns as a joke, and he does the ONE THING he was told not to do by the psychic and seeks out the demonic force primarily hurting Katie. And then he has the nerve to act shocked when things get worse. Paranormal activity or not, Katie needs to drop him like a hot potato with a spider on it.

I don’t think he crossed the line until he brought the Ouija board in, then he lost sympathy. How stupid are you? The problem with this type of movie is there always has to be a naysayer, a doubter, an irritating a-hole that is off to the sidelines saying it’s not happening. If they were both sitting there freaked out the entire time there would be no conflict.

I have SUCH vivid memories of seeing this in theaters during the "DEMAND IT IN YOUR TOWN" rollout they executed. We couldn't buy tickets online back then (at least at our theater) and it was only playing at Midnight, and day after day we'd go early to try and get tix and...sold out. Sold out. Over and over. Finally we made it in to a packed showing by the skin of our teeth and the ending of this movie had me literally shaking outside of the theater for about ten minutes which is hilarious and embarrassing to look back on. When it came out on home media, I was hyping it up to someone I was seeing and finally convinced her to watch it with me - she could not have been more bored and I was left trying to explain how at the time it scared the absolute bejeezus out of me!

The thing about Micah is that most of the movie he is not a believer. So, everything he says to the demon he’s saying to Katie. And when he says she didn’t warn him before moving in, he’s not saying that because he’s upset but because he wants to make her feel guilty. I’m totally fine with him being skeptical (I do not believe in ghosts, demons, etc, so I would need some compelling evidence). I’m not okay with him antagonizing her. Edited to add that throughout almost the entire movie, when he gets angry or frustrated, it’s because he isn’t in control. Most of the time, he’s annoyed he can’t control Katie (e.g., her not letting him film them having sex). Later he’s mad and scared that he can’t control what happens in his house. Only at the very end does he have any emotion based on him caring for her (or even his own safety).

I saw this at the cinema and found it more funny than scary. Didn’t know what everyone was going on about. I remember bursting out laughing with the powdered footprints lookin like they were being haunted by a giant chicken. Then I got home. At night. Alone. Every noise, every creek… And my neighbor has chickens. That was a long night.

One of the scariest found footage supernatural horror movies ever made! Steven Spielberg was hired as a consultant by Director Oren Pelli and producer Jason Blum, showing them how to keep the audience on the edge of their and giving them a sense of dread.

Alanda, whatever that tiny squeak you made when she grimaced into the camera -- guard it, reserve it, too adorable! Yea i saw the film in a theater around the time "found footage" DIY projects were gaining popularity. Paranormal became a communal movie event, with people in the front uttering their warnings to the characters, gasping when the clock sped up as she stood watching. Nobody knew a film like this, and the jump scares/vibe brewed exceptionally well in a dark crowded theater.

The cameras were definitely part of the problem. After I was told "don't give it attention," I would've given Micah 24 hours to get all the cameras out of the house and I would've personally escorted him to the dumping sites. After 24 hours I'm breaking his cameras, his computer, his flash drives, external hard drives--

Great reactions, as always. I don't watch horror films and I think your fear scares me more than the movies. Don't worry about what's behind you, we've got your back and will immediately let you know when to run! Thanks for sharing.

Sis!! I borrowed this movie and Insidious from my cousin after Thanksgiving dinner. Went back to my apt and wanted to relax but decided to watch both movies like fool 😆. I was already full from dinner and I was stress eating the entire time. I ate a whole sweet potato pie and half watching and the last part freaked the crap outta me 😱. Never again FR

Micah was such a ahole in this movie. I would have done told him u gotta go!! This whole franchise is dear to my heart because these were my kids gateway into horror (mine was nightmare on elm street when I was a kid). I bought the chiller box set and I love em!

The thanking of the families and police department may have been because they probably filmed this in those people's house and it probably resulted in them having to tell the police department so if there were any noise complaints to the police they wouldn't have to waste resources sending the police to check in on the house

The thing I love most about this film, is it’s use of so little to convey sooooo much fear. It cleverly uses the fear of the unknown to create tension, and by never really showing what’s going bang in the night, holds us in a state of fear. An independent passion project shot in the writer directors own house, and made for a minuscule budget then shopped for distribution, it’s a testament to the fact that what’s in our imaginations is often far more terrifying than anything shown on a screen. It has all the best stuff about found footage horror. I saw this film in the theater, packed house, opening weekend. It remains one of my favorite theater going experiences ever, cause the entire theater audience was on the edge of our seats and had gotten so, so quiet, and when he hits the camera at the end, everyone screamed 😂 such a good time.

Found footage flicks give me a level of terror no other genre of horror can convey. I remember watching this when I was 5 and I developed a fear of my fan billowing my blanket up thinking it was the demon of Katie past coming to SNATCH me up lmfao! Wonder reaction as always, Alanda; this brought back some less-than-desirable memories🤣🤣🤣

There's an alternate ENDing where Katie kills Micha then slits her own throat. Then there's ANOTHER one where the cops show up The Next Night after Katie Kills Micha then they shoot her after the Demon leaves her body.
