My daughter is in the US Army and she was showing me some of her weapons, handguns, and rifles. She first, before handing me her handgun, pulled the clip and then looked in the chamber. then properly handed the gun to me. I turned it away from her and started to point it. She stopped me and said "did you check to see if it was loaded" I looked at her and said, "no you already did that." She then proceeded to educate me on the use of firearms. "YOU NEVER ASSUME A GUN IS UNLOADED UNTIL YOU CHECK IT YOURSELF."

But the actors are not allowed to manipulate the weapons themselves (except for what they're doing on screen), that's the armorer's job. If the actor starts doing that the armorer has to take it back and check it again. Baldwin should have been shown that the gun was empty or that the bullets were dummies, though.

They were rehearsing and checking camera angles for a sequence in which there would be a closeup of Baldwin adjusting his gun to show the audience he's armed and prepared to shoot. RULE I: ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED. RULE II: NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO DESTROY. RULE III: KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET. RULE IV: BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET. -Jeff Cooper's 4 Basic Rules- ALWAYS keep the gun pointed in a safe direction. This is the primary rule of gun safety. A safe direction means that the gun is pointed so that even if it were to go off it would not cause injury or damage. The key to this rule is to control where the muzzle or front end of the barrel is pointed at all times. Common sense dictates the safest direction, depending on different circumstances. ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot. When holding a gun, rest your finger on the trigger guard or along the side of the gun. Until you are actually ready to fire, do not touch the trigger. ALWAYS keep the gun unloaded until ready to use. Whenever you pick up a gun, immediately engage the safety device if possible, and, if the gun has a magazine, remove it before opening the action and looking into the chamber(s) which should be clear of ammunition. If you do not know how to open the action or inspect the chamber(s), leave the gun alone and get help from someone who does. Know your target and what is beyond. Be absolutely sure you have identified your target beyond any doubt. Equally important, be aware of the area beyond your target. This means observing your prospective area of fire before you shoot. Never fire in a direction in which there are people or any other potential for mishap. Think first. Shoot second. Know how to use the gun safely. Before handling a gun, learn how it operates. Know its basic parts, how to safely open and close the action and remove any ammunition from the gun or magazine. Remember, a gun's mechanical safety device is never foolproof. Nothing can ever replace safe gun handling. -NRA Firearms Safety Rules-

honestly I do not know how they going to be investigating this. the cops on the scene kind of messed up everything , they did not handle the evidence properly. 1. they allowed people to touch the trolley with the bullets where crucial fingerprints could have been found , but because the Armorer girl and another guy is seen on body cam touching the items on the trolley , makes it tampered evidence and might not be allowed to be tested or put into evidence (Mistrial already) 2. I am not sure but I think someone other than the policeman gave him the gun or handed him the gun , it is chucked onto his cop car front seat, is it not the csi crew who should be handling all evidence and not the cops? it is not just television show these are the protocols of the real police too, forensics come and do their thing before any cop is allowed to touch anything at a crime scene . This must have been the worst policing I have seen and I watch a lot of true crime and court case videos, you can learn a lot from them.

Even if I loaded the gun, I always open the cylinder to check the load, if that checks out, (no safety on a revolver) but on other guns, the safety is on. I take the safety off other types of guns before I ever even think of firing that weapon. If someone - ANYONE - hands me a loaded gun (regardless of what the person says about the gun or what their job is - now I'm going to fire it - so I do exactly what I described above! I would never fire a weapon without inspecting it first. Alec has contradicted himself almost as many times as trump does in an hour - we all know that is saying something!

I don't think it fair to criticise him here, it's a horrible accident on his part, the pain of that trauma will be bad, trust me. The victim would not want Alec scrutinised to this extreme, more likely, she'd want us to all focus on how on earth that live bullet got into that gun. If it turns out Alec put it in there, then have at him, otherwise, we should be blaming the person who put it in there and ignoring Alec altogether unless he is somehow otherwise involved, but i'm pretty sure he is an actor, not a hitman, so i don't think he is.

@@FractalAgent.777 wow, that’s some analysis right there. I wish I had your ability to understand people’s intentions and thoughts (dead or alive). ANYONE who handles a gun MUST know that you are responsible for that weapon...YOU MUST clear that weapon...YOU MUST never point it at another human being unless you intend to shoot that person. When he testifies as to his knowledge of these basic common sense rules, he won’t be able to deny he’s never heard such rules before...industry protocols or not. If you’re staging a movie scene where the cinematographer wants the gun pointed directly at her for whatever reason, USE A FAKE GUN. Everyone on that set appears to have been utterly incompetent. Baldwin is anti gun and refuses to understand them or be trained in their use because he doesn’t respect weapons but he wants to make millions using them... he’s going to learn the hard way that you can’t say “I was just doing what I was told” when it comes to guns...him and all the other incompetent people in the chain of events are individually 100% liable...and if the cinematographer told him to point that gun at her, she has partial responsibility too. The ceo of Boeing didn’t get off the hook because of the 737 problems. He didn’t physically put the plane together. But he is ultimately responsible for the culture of his company. Just like a producer is ultimately responsible for the safety culture of their movie set. The buck needs to stop with someone.

I’m from a country where guns are illegal but infairness to him, if he has been making movies all his life and continuously using prop guns for decades, maybe he has automatically assumed that it has already been checked by his team that it is unloaded. (That’s my opinion & I could be completely wrong)
@TheKOzality
@TheKOzality 2 жыл бұрын
Not sure if you understand exactly what that would entail. For the scene in question, the gun would have been loaded with blanks and if the gun is a revolver (like in most Westerns) then all you see is the back of the bullet which is identical for a blank or a live round. So it is critical that the person's job it is to load and verify the weapon, the Armorer, does their job. It would be entirely unreasonable to assume that the actor would be the one checking because then you would be expecting them to unload and load a weapon which is already someone else's job. This is absolutely a tragedy and someone lost their life due to it, but there should never have been live rounds on the set and I highly doubt Alec Baldwin was responsible for their presence on set.
@EndTheMirage
@EndTheMirage 2 жыл бұрын
In this case it is not Alec's responsibility, but the lead armorer's. Right before they start filming he gets the gun handed by the armorer, who is to make sure the gun is loaded with blanks and the barrel is clean. The actors are not allowed to mess with the guns in any way. They are only allowed to do what they're instructed to do by the armorer. If I was him on set I would not check the gun either, since that is not my job and it's better to leave it to the professional. I may have asked the armorer to show me the gun is loaded with blanks, but I definitely wouldn't do it myself. It's like a chemistry student accidentally injuring someone by creating an explosion, even though he did exactly what he was instructed to do by the teacher. In that case it was the teacher who made a mistake and therefore got another student injured. Same thing goes for this situation. Alec is the student and the armorer is the teacher. He did exactly what he was instructed to do, therefore the responsibility lies with the armorer

@EndTheMirage
@EndTheMirage 2 жыл бұрын
@@isitoveryet9525 did you even read what I wrote? What I mean is that Alec is basically the armorer’s trigger finger. Whatever happens after is the armorer’s responsibility. If there was a live round in it, she should’ve checked and known about it. Not Alec. You have to understand that when it comes to guns on a set, actors are basically children and the armorer is the parent teaching them how to handle them safely. If a kid follows the parent’s instructions and still manages to accidentally break something, it’s the parent who is at fault, not the kid. Same thing in this situation. The armorer is literally being payed to handle full responsibility of anything regarding the firearms, not the actors. Otherwise what’s the whole point of having an armorer on set if the responsibility already lies with the actor, that just doesn’t make sense. Especially since a lot of actors have never held a gun before in their entire life.
