Alfa Romeo 159 / Brera - Remote start engine - How to

You can start remotely via your Android smartphone your Alfa Romeo Brera or 159's Engine
What you need?
1. Car in good condition - Alfa Romeo 159/159SW/Brera/Spider
2. No check engine lights on the instrument panel
3. MANCAN Tool Module in the OBD2 Connector
4. Android Smartphone with MANCAN Tool Smart Control app installed
5. *Box or a stick to support the brake or clutch pedal
Steps:
1. Install the module
2. Activate the module with Alfa Romeo Key Code (Provided by dealer)
3. Put the key fob in the reader (Leave it inside)
4. Without pressing clutch or brake pedal press the "START/STOP" button to turn off the MAR
5. Engage "P" parking (for automatic transmissions) or "N" neutral (for manual transmissions)
6. Pull the parking brake. This is optional, but highly recommended!
7. Put your box or stick * between the plastic and brake or clutch pedal
8. Tap to "START ENGINE" feature in the APP
9. Procedure:
- MAR POSITION
- 4 SECONDS WAITING
- STARTER ON
- WAIT FOR RPM over 450
- STOP STARTER
- KEEPING MAR AND ENGINE ON
** If you disconnect the module, the engine will stop

but you need something to push down clutch or brake to start with the app, i think its useless :)

if you see it like that then yeah, it's useless. ofcourse, in order to start the car you still have to put the key on and press clutch or brake. but i've already made myself a button so that i can simulate the pressing of the clutch or brake pedal; after that i've put the key inside the electronics-block for the key; all i have to do now it's just to touch the command on the macman app. Warning! in order to do it safe don't forget to put it in neutral and lift up the handbrake. Thx

Box on clutch its a great thing for the first time you use this but am using this often so I added a switch on the clutch petal sensor wiring to dont put a box every time i leave my 159, its faster and cleaner to switch a button 😉

Can you do it even if the car is blocked? I know, i have to put the key on and press the clutch, but please just answer the question. Thx

Jeeping the clutch always pushed is not a good thing..my 2 liter only starts via clutch ,not brake pedal..

Do I understand correctly that you have to have the key in the car / foot on brake to be able to remote start it? Or is this only for first setup?

I mean, if the key is already inside the car, i dont see the purpose of the remote start... its not even remote start, you have to get in the car anyways

You are right. Our customers use the second key to prepare the car before night. And in the cold mornings just go thru the window and start it.
