Alfa Romeo 159 DRL & Signal Lights

In this episode, we will install DRL (daytime running lamps) in an old Alfa Romeo 159.
For this, we will use a pair of 1156 66SMD 2-color LED (White - Amber) turn signal bulbs, and one DRL controller module.
Each DRL bulb consumes only 0.25A @ 14V
14V * 0.5A =7W total electrical consumption ( *VS 140W* if you use your default headlights during daytime)
The signal LED are connected in series with an external 50W 6 Ohm resistor.
They consume 1.5A * 14V = 21W (same power with the old halogen bulbs, therefore the same behavior @ the signal relay)
The DRL
are automatically engaged, when the engine starts and the voltage exceeds 13V
are dimmed automatically when the parking lights are engaged. (night mode)
are disengaged when the engine stops
are disengaged when a signal light is engaged

this is great, it deams automatically when you turn on the lights manually, but how the controller knows that? you just conect from the fuse box and "stole" power from a parking light

Greetings David Varela, The installation is very simple. (you guessed right) The controller is connected: to the vehicle battery via a fuse and ** to the (+) of the parking lights ** The DRL: are automatically engaged, when the engine starts *and* the voltage exceeds 13V are disengaged, when a signal light is engaged are dimmed automatically, when the parking lights are engaged. Consumption in sleep mode is 0,003A @ 12.6V = 0,03Watt (if you connect the controller directly to the battery) Consumption in "follow me home" is 0,630A @ 12.9V = 8,13 Watt (if you connect the controller directly to the battery) Consumption in "day running" is 0,563A @ 13.9V = 7,83 Watt Consumption in "night driving" is 0,313A @ 13.9V = 4,35 Watt

hi, why didn't you connect the yellow cable and what is it for? Maybe I didn't understand the connection well . thx

Hello Officer... :-) How can I help you? What??? A fine, for not having my lights on, at day time??? 2x5W + 2x55W at the front + 4x5W at the back = 140W electrical consumption!!! Are you drunk? I have to build an alternative to this madness... with this system and 3.5Wx2 I 'll be happy to comply, to this strange new rule of yours... 7W vs 140W...
