The chromis are the best fish to get for any newbies out there or anyone looking for a great REEF fish that won't be aggressive or eat your coral. These fish eat like a champ and always stay out and show off!!!

One of my faves! I absolutely love this fish real cheap yet colourful and they add to the reef when you have greens reds and blues with yellows and purples saltwater aquariums are just so beautiful. I do fresh water aquariums too fully planted but I get so captivated by my saltwater tanks and the fish. The relationships between certain creatures like watchmen gobies and pistol shrimp make this hobby interesting and keeps me doing it everyday. This fish so simple' fantastic colour and chilled nature makes them a must to have in a community tank they get along with other fish no problem.

so... i got 2 of these from petco. I got the temperature at 78 degrees f and the water parameters just right. I fed them some small balls of food. very small. I keep them in a tank with my clownfish. 20 gallon tank. couple hours later at night, they are getting inactive. One is hiding behind the heater. Barely moving. Only the fins. Just sitting there... The other one is the same but hiding in the rocks. Is there a problem right now with their behavior?

Are the lights dim or off? When my lights dim, my chromis hide in the rocks. Sometimes they wedge themselves into small crevices in the rocks where they are laying on their sides and barely moving. It scared me the first time I saw it, but when the lights came up they were as active as ever.

I have 4 in a 80 gal tank, but one is always left out of the pack. I wonder if it's because of the even amount? I've been considering getting a couple of more but I've read that they tend to fight each other off and ppl eventually end up with 1 or 2.
@BrockLeonard
@BrockLeonard 3 ай бұрын
They are a schooling fish and sometimes it’s multiple males that fight and one gets left out of the pack. You can try adding a 1-3 more to see if it helps but it’s not always guaranteed.

I’m thinking of having a small school of these in a 90, I already have a percula clown, clown goby, and banngaii cardinal. My plans for the 90 are I ultimately want to get a yellow tang, and a kole tang. So would a small school of chromis be compatible with everything listed above?

Curious if you ever tried the Chromis with your Springer Damsel. I have a springer with 4 Chromis and all seems well. 74 gallon Tower. Was 6 Chromis, then 5, now 4. Idk where body of 5 went. Found number 6. It appeared to me he was bullied by the other chromis and not the damsels but I cant watch 24/7. Only had them a few weeks. Will be curious to see how it goes long term.
