Excellent, I just inherited my uncle's 1952 CA. Can't wait to go through some basic maintenance this winter and see what I've got.

Very nice tractor and thorough overview. Some of the early 1951's had a magneto but you don't see too them too often.

Nice. Our neighboor had one with a snap coupler. I could not make the narrow front end point straight ahead, ended up pulling a hay wagon down the road doing a slight S curve all the way.

That is common when the pedestal shaft is worn. My D17 does the same thing.

What is your tractor number? All early CA's came with a magneto from the factory. I think, some time in 1952 they were switched to a distributor drive? My 1951 CA669 was bought new by my dad and he said it had the distributor conversion, just like yours, on it when he got it from the dealer. Any tractor with the "magneto flange' on the back of the governor, came with a mag from the factory. Later factory built distributor tractors had a different back end on the governor housing, without the flange. I still have the 2-14 pick up plow and the 2 row front mounted cultivator that came with the tractor.

I will have to look at it and see. This tractor came out of Maryland where an Auto shop took it in as payment for car repairs. Saw it advertised and drug it home. I have never used the rear lift but would like to plow with it. My D12 with a 2 bottom is about maxed out so thought the CA might struggle (I do gardens locally).

@@charlie175 Dad used to plow level cornstalk ground in 3rd gear once in awhile with the CA I have. Could only run about half throttle or it threw the dirt too far. I've plowed with it and it had no problem pulling 2-14's in second, as long as you have the ballast. Dad had 'loaded' 14.9-24's on it from right after it was new, because the 12.4's sank too far in plowed ground to disc with it.

Do these have a hand clutch also how much you think it weighs
@charlie17510 ай бұрын
They have a dry clutch that disengages 1 axle stopping movement. The WD style hand clutch was a better design. They weight around 2500 with no weights
