I find the idea that the Jedi misunderstood the prophecy compelling. "Bringing balance to the force" in a situation where the Jedi number in the hundreds, and the Sith being barely noticable, the Jedi being reduced to a couple of people makes sense as a sort of balance.

Ah I remember watching DM's review of most/all the episodes. I've gotta check if she ever reviewed any other media like Clone Wars, games or even books. Videos like these get me in the mood to jumpstart a binge of one or more of the book sagas on audiobook.

I think the phantom menace (and the prequels) are another one of those "you hate it because someone told you to" things. Those movies are a blast.

I love the video, and I have one criticism: please normalize the audio between the memes, added sound, and your commentary. It's noticeably quieter and I keep getting jumpscared by the audio from the memes

1:05:00 Alright, I'm going to have to criticize DemonMama's take here. the LAAT didn't just randomly explode. It landed, Anakan, Obi-Wan, and a Clone Trooper get out. The LAAT tries to pull away but it gets shot down by the Geonosian Fighters that were escorting Dooku. You can also see the Clone Trooper who got out trying to cover them by shooting at the fighters but they shoot him as well and he falls off the platform (easy to miss though as the scene is a long shot).

I'm sure qui gon, wanted to free shmi, but he was already behind schedule for his mission. He knew anakin was too important to leave behind. But he needed to bring the queen to coruscant. Additionally. Tatooine slaves have bombs surgically implanted into their bodies. There's so many people who think qui gon should've just taken shimi with them. But if he did, anakin would have front row seats to his mom blowing up in a red mist. Not something a 9 year old should witness.

My sincere reviews of the prequels and the elephant in the room sequels is that they are not like, unwatchably bad. I feel like the internet has course corrected into hating these too much. Meanwhile, I started my sci fi project inspired by Star Wars probably the most at the surface level. I love it, both EU and 'Disney'. Of course, if you ask me, when I saw the DM review (shout out!!) I knew it was going to be spicy. I don't agree with all of it, but it happens to be one of the better ones.

Rewatched the prequels a couple months back and I really do feel like thr Phantom Menace specifically got done dirty. Can't stand Episode 2 but 1 and 3 are literally the same to me

Man people don't understand midichorians at all. Their not blood eugenics. They can be manipulated in that way. You can technically breed for a higher m count, but that's not the point. Midichorian counts are an indicator of an individual's connection to the force. The reason jedi are interested in high count persons, is because they have a head start in building a force connection. But ANYBODY can connect to the force. As your connection grows, so does your m-count. In episode one, anakin has a count of 20,000. By episode 3, its 28,000. The reason the Skywalker family is so powerful, is because, anakin was born of the force. But even anakin lost to a low m-count jedi, twice. That jedi is none other than obi wan kenobi.
