I tried to make a very simple covering for the strawberries for as little cost as possible . Take a look at the results

Looking really good Sarah - is there maybe a bit of that rhubarb ready that you could harvest? That would make the plant a bit smaller and it'll grow back quickly. Yummy stewed on cereal for breakfast or mixed with cooked apple in a crumble.

’m not a fan of that type of netting because the birds can get caught up in it. You can try next year to paint stones that are strawberry shape into strawberries. Leave them next to the plants and the birds will peck at them. They then learn that they’re not edible and once your real strawberries are ripe the birds leave them alone. Works for me.
@sarahsallotmentjourneyАй бұрын
I must have been lucky no birds have caught themselves up on it but I will know for next year thanks
@AnnaAnna-uc2ffАй бұрын
When I had a garden I used netting on my peas for many years and caught only 1 bird. An "English House Sparrow", which in Canada are considered an invasive species, so no loss.

Great ides for the netting for the strawberries. I order a lot fromTemu as well. I had a question for you. I see a lot of people in the UK have allotments. Are they because some people don't have yards to plant gardens or what not? I was just curious. Anyway hope you have a great week sending lots of love from your friend in Michigan. Can't wait till the next live. Love chatting with you and Mick.
@sarahsallotmentjourneyАй бұрын

@brandonbursick9575Ай бұрын
Ok now it all makes sense to me lol. 😂 sometimes I think k my yard is too big. It's a lot to keep up with. I didn't put a garden in this year. Hopefully next year. Right now I am still recovering from an accident I was in last September when I cartwheeled my wife's new vehicle 8 times and broke my back nearly leaving me paralyzed. I thank God nobody was with me and I didn't hit anyone. I'm just hoping I will be able to go back to my job soon at the steal foundry I work at. Miss all my Co workers and that feeling of normalcy. Hope you have a great week and can't wait to see you and Mick on the live Sunday.
