Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ

4 жыл бұрын

The Book of Mormon prophet Alma the younger preaches to the people in Ammonihah and gets thrown out of their city. An angel of the Lord tells Alma to return to Ammonihah. When Alma returns to the city, a man named Amulek welcomes him into his home and allows Alma to teach his family.
Together, Alma and Amulek preach to the people in Ammonihah and command them to repent. Alma testifies that Jesus Christ will come into the world to redeem His people. Alma encourages them to have faith in Jesus Christ, repent, and be baptized.
The leaders in Ammonihah are angry and try to put Alma into prison, but Amulek defends him. Amulek teaches a man named Zeezrom and tells him why the Savior will come to earth. He teaches that Jesus Christ’s Resurrection will make it possible for everyone to have an immortal body. Zeezrom believes Amulek's teachings and repents.
The leaders of Ammonihah are angry with the believers and throw them and their sacred writings into a fiery pit, killing them. Then the leaders put Alma and Amulek into prison and beat them and mock them for many days. Finally, Alma asks the Lord to deliver them from prison. The Lord causes the prison walls to tumble to the ground, killing everyone except Alma and Amulek.
Zeezrom becomes very sick because he thinks Alma and Amulek are dead because of his wickedness. Alma and Amulek heal Zeezrom, and he is baptized.
Based on Alma 8-15.

I'm growing anxious day by day but upon watching this video, I truly felt how happy my soul could be if I help someone be converted unto the Lord and be baptized and to turn away from his old and wicked ways. I love this video so much. I'm still having mixed feelings about my plan to go on my mission. I pray all will be well.

That warm comforting feeling you feel in your heart is the Spirit testifying to you that this is true. I’m so happy to hear you are going on a mission soon! I’m currently on a service mission right now in the Utah Valley Welfare and Self-Reliance services. My name is Elder Miller. When I was preparing for my mission, I had many setbacks and discouragement in the process. But I turned to the Lord in fervent prayer for guidance and help to continue working towards my mission. And the power of Holy Ghost touched my heart so tenderly and comforting me that I shall be called to this mission and to let my soul be at peace. I testify to you that the Lord will help you in your struggles, and with His strength and blessings upon you, you can do all things! Remember; if you have desires to serve God you are called to the work. Keep trying with all your heart, might, mind, and strength. Serving a mission is a righteous desire, He will grant it unto you. I testify to you that this is the work of God and that it is true. May He bless you and guide you! I believe in you, Vheen Audrey Soriano. 😉🙂😀😁😊☺️🤗👍

I was nineteen when I first heard the words of members and missionaries of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I thought like Zeezrom. I thought that these people were deceived. As with Zeezrom, the Holy Ghost visited me as I listened. The Holy Ghost told me their words were true. Flash forward 23 years. I watched this with my fifteen-year-old and eleven-year-old sons. We all felt the Spirit very powerfully. I challenge all haters, all those who feel this people are deceived, to go to the source. Listen to them and then ask God. I did, and my life is now complete and full of joy and light, even and especially in this darkening world.

iterum nata - it’s not about who is right and who is wrong. It’s about seeking truth through prayer and diligent study of the scriptures. The Holy Ghost will guide all who humbly seek truth to the Giver of all truth, God and then through belief on His son Jesus Christ and His grace, we will be redeemed, saved in His kingdom. Be a seeker of truth. The Bible and the Book of Mormon are two important sources of this truth.

By their fruits YW shall know them. If the fruits are true/right/just and engender faith in Jesus then they are true. Hard to believe that someone has prayed about this book and the Holy Ghost has testified to them that this book, that gives us a DEEP understanding about Christ, is false.

Faith precedes the miracle, but if you have not faith-- if ye cannot believe all that ye have heard, cling unto those things that ye Can believe, that those things may grow, adding to your faith and revealing those greater parts, those difficult truths, that can only be gained in hardship, through patience and steadfast belief in Foundational Doctrine. iterum nata - It is not false doctrine. But not only did he teach that, but he also taught that as God is we also may become. Paul taught that we would be joint heirs with Jesus Christ. God our father is truly our father and what son or daughter did not aspire to be like their father? Joseph understood this. That is our eternal destiny and also one that was taught in the early church that Christ established while he was here upon the earth but has since been lost. There are many evidences of this. That doctrine has been restored through Joseph Smith. Time will prove him right.
@Gasp7000
@Gasp7000 4 жыл бұрын
iterum nata : It is most important for you to recognize that you are not qualified by God to tell Him about Himself, His origin, His History, His incapability of being whom He is, whatever that turns out to be. Additionally, Joseph Smith is not the only prophet who was taught by God His History and why He retains His power. All prophets since Adam were told what Joseph was told. It is more blasphemous to assume what God is not, and that blasphemy is detailed in Isaiah, who prophesies that the very words you just spoke, in essence, will be spoken by the unbelieving in the latter days. Moses said that a prophet would come forth in the latter days to “restore” that which the wicked have removed from ancient scripture, yet you are resistant to anything other than the whittled down scripture set that Constantine, etc., manipulated with their unrighteous dominion for political gain. The prophet, Joseph of Egypt, prophesied that the latter day prophet of the restoration (or lost snd hidden scripture) would bear his same name. I believe people reject him today for the same reason people in Christ’s day rejected him!-he presented as a common, ordinary man. If you believe you will recognize the prophet Isaiah speaks of, I am inclined to equate you with those who are still waiting for the Messiah. If you understood the scriptures in the Bible, what we have left of them, concerning the Holy Ghost, then you would understand the Holy Ghost’s calling. He does have the power snd capability to infuse within us, a solid confirmation of truth without any other assistance at all, and no truth can be known on that level without the Holy Ghost. You are confused by how you perceive the Bible because you don’t understand it on your own-only the Holy Ghost can interpret it for anyone. Joseph did teach the same God of the Bible, but you have to remember that when the Godhead identifies itself as three identities, you’re just going to have to enlist the Holy Ghost on what that means. They profess themselves all three as Gods in the Godhead, but their is a priesthood order to that, that being that God the Father is the head of of the other two. Christ was born of it, and we don’t know much else about the Holy Ghost, only that God and the Son do nothing without the Holy Ghost, nor do truth prophets. Remember, Constantine removed what Isaiah prophesied shall be restored. If you think that that which shall be restored will look like the whittled-down bible, which, by the way, was not named by God, the Christ, the Holy Ghost, apostles, prophets or true disciples-it was named “bible” by the “whittlers” because “bible” means “little books”! Constantine cleverly placed Revelation last, thinking to stop the masses from believing anything further, for further believing or revelation would interfere with his politics. Well, he bungled. 3 John was actually written AFTER Revelation. Besides, Constantine assembled the Bible, not John the Beloved or any other apostle or prophet, therefore, it’s safe to recognize that Christ said he would be calling prophets as delivering revelation all the way until He comes again. When John speaks of nothing being “added” to “this”, he is referring to the specific revelation itself that he is discribing-he is NOT referring to a whole set if books called a “Bible”, because that assembly wasn’t even arranged into a book set yet. Besides, those who DID assemble it, wickedly tampered with it, just as Isaiah prophesied. Isaiah said more scriptures would come forward in the latter days. I propose that there are many nowadays who believe firmly in Constantine’s “bible”, yet not in Isaiah, and certainly bot in the restoration he spoke of. That would be like an ancient Jew having to accept that the Messiah had come. Well, the “Joseph” has come. One thing that you can do for yourself is study the true essentiality if the Holy Ghost. That you feel he is only partially responsible for bearing a witness of the truth is blasphemy against the Gospel in itself. The Holy Ghost has the power to bear a fully electrically -charged witness that remains 100% undeniable. That is why when someone abuses the name if the Holy Ghost to at he witnessed that the Book of Mormon is not true or that Joseph Smith was not a true prophet, there is no doubt in my heart it was not the Holy Ghost telling them such. Firstly, the Holy Ghost virtually never bears a witness from the place of doubt or personal pessimism. If that is where one is coming from, then one is on their own and will not have discernment on their own. Sometimes, people just don’t want Christ to be the Messiah, and sometimes, people just don’t want Joseph Smith to be the prophet of the restoration, so sometimes, people just don’t want to give Isaiah and Ezekiel credit for their prophesies. But they prophesied by the power of the Holy Ghost, so there is no questioning them. All of the prophets of the Book of Mormon testified of Christ, and of Isaiah and his prophesies. For 600 years, the Book of Mormon peoples lived the Law of Moses until Christ gave them further instructions, passing the new sacrament to them just as he did in Jerusalem. In fact, the ancient Book of Mormon people who lived within present day US borders, build earthworks depicting their mindset, one fort city in Ohio looking a lot like a very Jewish earthwork. Today it is no more, as it has been leveled and farmed long ago, but in the 1800’s when it still existed, Squires snd Davis, surveyors, publishes that one snd many more in their books. This Jewish one, we call today “the Hanukah Earthwork”, because from an aerial point of view, it appears to be a Menorah, and oil lamp, and an astrological calendar-like structure pointing to the measuring of the seasons. “This new promised land” (Isaiah, etc.) is described as a free land, an esteemed land above others (because of the freedom and prosperity). Who doesn’t esteem freedom, prosperity? There is more to this whole story than what you assume God “isn’t”. Let’s just leave that up to God to decide, and watch for the restored information (“plain and precious things”) the biblical prophets spoke of. It is important to understand that the Book of Mormon can only be accepted if you do believe the bible. If one cannot accept the Book of Mormon, then in fact, they actually do bot accept the Bible, for it prophesies of the coming forth of the restoration. Doubt is toxic, so toxic that one cannot recognize truth in the very presence of doubting something that is actually true, even though it should be proven true later. If it’s true then, it’s true now.

Years ago, two missionaries were called back from fruitless Fillmore, CA. En route to Ventura, they felt impressed to go back and knock on one more door. A young Latino man turned them away. As they sat in their car puzzled, another man knocked on their window. He said he had received a vision the previous night, in which he was told two men would come with a book. He had just hung up the phone, and asked his roommate, "Who was that?" "Two guys with a book." The two young men were baptized, and brought hundreds into the church, friends, family, future grandchildren, future missionaries, even a member of the Camarillo Young Adult Bishopric remembers his distraught single mother being converted by these two.

So after Joseph Jr was killed everyone started going different ways, except for a few who believed that Joseph Smith 3rd was the next prophet so we waited and that became the rlds church then in the 1980s(I think) some people thought that women should be in the priesthood so there was a spilt and that's where you get the restoration branches.

How different it would be if he demanded a sign. My mind is blank on this one, but I think I can recall two others who went down that road -- one was struck dumb, then communicated in some way that he believes now, so heal him now. His request was denied and he was trampled to death. The other was struck dead almost immediately. Both were given second and third chances to recant their demands, and both "tempted God" and demanded a sign. Makes me think, I would love to see a sign, but only if I ask out of hope, rather than defiance. I would definitely NEVER DEMAND a sign, ESPECIALLY after receiving an obvious final warning! These evil men were just so desperate to save face, they challenged God and suffered death, rather than back down. I love, however, how Zeezrom began asking honest questions, as soon as he began to doubt his own words. He was no longer mocking them, and instead became teachable. He then took it further, and during the very same altercation that he had started, he admitted his guilt, and he tried to stop the others from harming Alma and Amulek. His heart was changed so swiftly and so deeply, he nearly died from a fever resulting from his anguish of soul! He was no longer concerned with saving his reputation among the people. The anguish he felt was not for fear of his own soul. He was mortified by the destruction that he had caused -- both the torture and murder that the believers suffered, and for the souls of others that he had lead astray. One last observation: Out of all these great sinners (that I'm recalling at the moment) who were born again and spent the rest of their lives as missionaries for Jesus Christ, Zeezrom stands out to me with Alma (The Elder) as having changed their heart while hearing someone's testimony (Alma from Abinadi, Zeezrom from Alma and Amulek). Alma the Younger and the Sons of Mosiah were physically stopped by an angel. The apostle Paul was blinded, and then was confronted directly by Jesus Christ. This is another testimony of how powerful a witness from the Holy Ghost can be!

Brandon Ott The way we are told to pray on things to seek the truth, or verify the truth is one of the main reasons I became a member. I was never pushed to believe anything, just offered info, and asked only to pray on it later. 13 years later, here I am, despite all the odds, with a calling in the church, endowed, going to the temple to perform ordinances.....who knew! 🙂😇. And in large part because of this very fact you mentioned.

I have a lot of thoughts about this video. And for some reason, I feel like sharing those instead of keeping them to myself today. So, here goes. - I really love this section in the Book of Mormon - all except for the part where the believers are cruelly murdered. Yet, even that atrocity, along with Zeezrom's repentance, are immediate examples of the truth of what Alma and Amulek had been teaching earlier. They spoke of how Christ redeems all from physical death, of how He redeems all who follow Him from sin, and of how He grants eternal life to those who repent. And that's exactly what we see here; we see Zeezrom repent, and see him healed in body and in spirit. And we see people who were forced to suffer for their faith, whom a prophet testifies will receive eternal life and peace. The judges and lawyers demand that Alma and Amulek prove the truth of what they taught, and that's exactly what they do. Only, they do it through more than breaking their bindings and causing a prison to collapse. They show it in the lives of those who followed what they were taught. - Alma isn't the only prophet or missionary mentioned in the scriptures who felt discouraged and heartbroken because of those who rejected him, nor the only one who was about to give up, before being told to try again. But seeing how emotional Alma is here after being cast out, really gets to me. Alma's childhood friends, the sons of Mosiah, mentioned that they were among the vilest of sinners, and yet they had a chance to repent, for which they were always grateful. Remembering this made them tremble to think of a single soul enduring the kind of condemnation they had suffered. I'm certain the same held absolutely true of Alma as well, and here in this video I can see it. He's not just hurting for himself, because of the unkindness he received; he's hurting for those who have rejected him, because he knows what misery lies before them. After watching what Alma was like when he was younger, it's comforting to see the kind of compassion he's developed. - In the record of the Book of Mormon, we don't hear Alma's exact thoughts when he was sorrowing and preparing to leave. But because of the words the angel speaks, I get the impression that Alma had been thinking about what a failure he was, and maybe even reflecting that the evil he had done in his younger days, still outweighed the amount of good he had done from that point onward. And isn't that an old favourite tactic of the Adversary? To taunt you with memories of regret, and to blind you towards the future, with memories of who you used to be? It would make sense, then, for Alma to see that specific angel, who opened by reminding Alma of his faithfulness from that point of his life. Out of all the ways that God could have communicated to Alma that he needed to try again in Ammonihah, He chose the way that gave Alma the most-needed comfort. And that's a beautiful reminder to any servant of the Lord who has ever been discouraged while in His service; He knows you personally, and He will display the personal care that a loving parent does. - I also like seeing how happy that angel looks here. It's like he was thinking, "Alma, last time I was here, I had to make the very earth shake, just to get you to listen to me. But look at you now! It's good to see who you've become. I'm so proud of you, brother." - I've always liked Amulek. He's a special kind of person, and I love listening to him testify. One thing that stood out to me today was seeing him standing on the street, looking mildly nervous, or perplexed, as he waited for a person he had never met, just because he had been told to in a vision. I actually know what that's like. Sometimes promptings, and even revelations come, and if you follow them, you may have to wait for the promise (or implied promise) to be fulfilled. You might end up like Amulek, standing on the street for who knows how many hours, waiting, and worrying, "Was this all in my head? Did I make this up? Nothing is happening. Is this really what I was supposed to do?" I find that true faith is less often shown through having no doubts at all, and more often shown through acting in faith in defiance of your doubts. - Zeezrom is another person who inspires me, because he shows just how far a person can change, how quickly the truth can change people who will allow it into their hearts, and he reminds me that no one is too far-gone to repent. He went from being greedy and taking part in a culture that was preparing to destroy the liberty of their nation, to jeopardizing his own life trying to fix a disaster he caused, to joining the people he once ridiculed, to (probably a spoiler for later videos) becoming an excellent missionary himself, and assisting Alma and Amulek in their work. There was once a time when I was thinking about Zeezrom's conversion, and it made me want to start writing about all of the people in scriptures whom we read were converted. I was going to call it "Who the Converts Once Were," or something, and point out what kinds of people they were, and what kinds of lives they were leading, right before they changed. Because if it turns out that murderers, conspirators, people taught from childhood to be xenophobes, and even people downright labelled as antichrists can change, then there's always hope for anyone. (I should probably finish writing that thing soon.) ******* OK. That was a lot. That's enough for now.

I've always thought that Amulek could have had a family. If so, watching his family die after having said that he knew Alma would be a blessing to his house would be unimaginably hard. You can take comfort in the fact that the hospitals are counting every patient as a COVID 19 case also their deaths. So the numbers have been grossly inflated so that they can get more federal funding. The threat is a lot less than the media would have you believe. I know this because I have friends and family who have been to the emergency rooms and they were treated as if they had COVID 19. Also one of my coworkers brother got in a car accident and died over the weekend. The hospital treated it as a COVID 19 case then they put it down on his death certificate. So the public is being lied to by the media. The only people I trust at this point is the church leaders and the President.

An incredible explanation of what faith is. Alma and Amulek put their trust in God and did what the Spirit told them, even if it meant they could be killed -- then, miracles followed. How often missionaries nowadays receive similar comments to what Alma and Amulek received! And how delicate a balance God plays -- not favoring one person or people over the other, but always calling us to receive Christ's mercy, no matter how long it takes. The Book of Mormon is true, and God's power still acts in our lives!
