I hear you brother. Im 42 this weekend. I feel like Im 25 in my head. I hear “40 year old man” and I still think of an old dude. Now Im that old dude lol. So weird. I miss not having any responsibilities. Im getting healthy now though. Running 5 miles per day, etc. It seems like you are on the same track. Like you said the gains are harder, however I’m willing to work harder 💪

I heard someone say that getting old is a privilege and it changed my mind set about aging. You have a great family, a good job, made it through the struggle and you have a good KZfaq channel that helps people such as myself. You are aging gracefully man; you have nothing to be worried about.

I just turned 30 this year and I'm gonna be 31 soon. What scares me most is that when I was a teen, and early 20s the time just dragged on and on. I had this thought like ''no worries, it will be forever and ever before I'm 30!'' Then I turned 30 and feel like time is flying faster and faster! This entire past year feels like its only been a month.

I’m gonna be 39 in December, I feel the same way man. I have spent the last 12 years doing nothing but working. I’m a cop and it requires so much dedication. The amount of overtime and court appearances is mentally and physically exhausting. Lost touch with all my friends and even family. Now I’m starting to question whether or not it’s been worth it. Almost 39, no wife no kids and ptsd and the media always attacking us is not how imagined life would be right now.

I'll be 40 in february, married, 2 kids, etc and I'm still sort of waiting for the crisis part. I think daily exercise helps, and staying distracted too. I will say though, that the main thing shielding me from feeling the same is my refusal to take myself and life in general too seriously. We don't know why humans are here and we never will. We all will die and eventually our accomplisments will be forgotten, as will our childrens, and their children's, etc. Nothing is permanent. This helps me enjoy every moment. To be in awe at my very existence and to relish in the humiliating experience of being human. It's a very freeing mindset as it realseases you from the pressures society places on you. The only rule is to be kind and repsect other's struggle, to connect. You will feel less alone this way. NO ONE IS IMPORTANT.

we are simply here to experience. just like how u experience a video game, its not about feeling good all the time. its about the emotional swings, plot twists, amazing moments, hellish moments. we are in a temporary life form in order to experience the world from the perspective of our body. its not that serious, and yes one thing is for sure, we all die. Everyone will die eventually, some people see it as peaceful some people fear it. But just remember, death is not you leaving home, death is you returning home because before life we were emptiness. :)

At 39, I hear you. I've accomplished a lot and I'm thankful for what I have while being mindful that many don't and/or struggle with their lives. Yet I have some regrets about not doing more, or doing things right, in my younger years. You make a great point about not getting trapped in nostalgia. I've dealt with that a lot in the past two years seeing 20 year high school reunion stuff showing up on my facebook and digging into my military brat past trying to find long lost classmates and friends. I think it's normal to revisit and enjoy those memories, and stay in touch with old classmates and friends, but in moderation. We must continue to grow in the present and look forward.

I had these same thoughts when I was in my early 40's and I still have them from time to time as I hit 50. For me, I don't want to be too weak or unhealthy to do the things I enjoy. That's why I'm choosing to eat healthier and go to the gym regularly.

I'm turning 39 in a couple of days, I'm back in school with a bunch of kids to finish my CS degree, have no family, kids, career to speak of...absolutely terrifying. Feels like I'm just supposed to fade into the background of society because I'm certainly not on any clear path I've seen a successful person take. I wish I could just be content as a turd with a bum job and just play video games but I feel too guilty for that, so I'm just throwing this hail mary hoping I can dig some success out of this thing. You're looking pretty good from where I'm sitting brother. Hell, I'm healthy and in America so I gotta be thankful.

Hey my friend, I feel you. I am 41 and going through it. I am at that age where things hurt, I cant do what I used to do, my best looks and days are gone. What I am trying to do lately is focus on my kids. They are older teens now, and that comes with its own set of sadness (no more babies and little kids) But they have a big life ahead, maybe ill have grandkids one day, I can relax a lot more, and do the things I wasnt able to do when they were young. It kinda helps. Hang in there. Be stong. We all go through this and we need you. You make an impact on people. I watch all your videos and you feel like a friend to me. Dont forget that. That is part of why you are on earth and you have many many years left to be awesome :)

Dorian, I can tell from your videos that you've been on quite a journey, pouring yourself into your work even when it meant sacrificing friendships. I so admire your drive and dedication. As someone who's spent over 10 years in social services, I've been privileged to connect with people from all walks of life. The wisdom I've learned from those older and wiser especially stands out. When asked what they'd change if they could turn back time, far and away the number one response was "I wish I'd cherished my relationships more." Prioritizing family, friends, parents, and spouses brought them the most joy and meaning. As you've gathered the fruits of your labor, I encourage you to also tend your relationships. The grind, while important, is not everything. The love we share, the memories we make, the bonds we nurture - these matter most at the end of the day. You have so much to offer those around you. While still pursuing your passions, take time to appreciate those who matter most. One day you may look back with pride at all you've accomplished, but I suspect you'll cherish the connections you made along the way even more.

I feel for ya bro. I have 10 years on you (I’m 49) and I think about age and mortality a lot. You will notice slight gradual changes in your body. You just have to accept it. We cannot control our aging and what our bodies do naturally. I say focus on the things you CAN control. One of my goals is not to wait to my 60s to retire. I now live full time in an Rv and left corporate life to enjoy things before I get old. You work in software you may be able to work remote in an RV. This lifestyle isn’t for everyone but you will find something you can do in your control. Freedom is valuable. Stay strong bro.

Looks like you've accomplished a lot so far Dorian. It sounds like hitting 40 is a good time to be appreciative for what you have in the moment. 20s was all about fun, but late 30s feels more like a fight for survival. The responsibilities of a family are crushing. At least you are still in good health. Some guys at this age get zeroed out in a divorce and have to hard reset.

I'm 42 and i absolutely can relate, i struggle with it as well. I notice my body is getting older and i agree with you on feeling like you're still 20 years old but you can't relate to 20 year olds anymore. I do miss dating and generally being more free and exploring the world when i was in my 20's. My 30's where also my boring years, building your life and just working. WHen you enter your 40's you just start to think: is this is? I've decided to work less hours starting next year and hope to meet some new people and start to enjoy life a bit more with more free time, working all the time is just slowly killing you. I'm very happy i didn't postpone everything in my life and already ticked a lot of things off my bucketlist.

Wow... Everything you just said is basically what I think in my head everyday.. I'm the same age.. I dont feel old, I dont act like I'm old. I dont dress old. But my body feels like its getting old. I have the same thoughts of the fun I had in my early life before marriage. Once I got married I basically changed completely. I moved abroad, Stopped all sorts of partying etc. But one way to look at it is I changed for the better. I was able to cleanse myself from bad habits etc. Now I'm at the point that I want to properly get my life sorted with a career etc. I have the thought and fear that im too old to start now being 40 next year. But watching your video about "being to old to sort out life" (the video that randomly popped up in my feed and how I discovered you) makes me feel a lot more optimistic. Thanks for being another me and helping me realise that there is always hope.

Just turned 39 a month ago. Feelings mutual. Because of your channel and a few others I started to learn programming as of December of last year. Still have a long way to go since I'm learning by myself but I am enjoying. I didn't think I'll like it. I don't think I'll be smart or good enough to get a job with it but hopefully I can have fun with it still solve problems on leetcode and aoc. Also I worried I'm too late to the game. So it scary to think about a career change at my age. Who knows maybe I'll make a crappy game or two. Either way I'm sure I'll have fun doing it as a hobby. Keep being awesome man. And let's just keep enjoying life and loving it to its fullest.

I resonate with a lot of what you're saying, being unable to understand what younger people are saying, slang word that feel weird for me to use. I just haven't gotten my life together yet, I suppose that is what I'll be doing through my 30s. I also had this thought this morning, I don't feel older, I feel like I'm the same as I was when I was in my early 20s but not in the ways I'd hoped. There are things I haven't done in my 20s, and now I'm moving on to 30 and I don't feel ready.

Im almost 40 too, so you are not alone. Everything you worked for will be gone in a blink of an eye. Thinking about how life was when I left High school. Feels in a distant past . Feels like a dream . But we have a purpose in life. To worship God almighty . May I invite you to Islam?

I'm seriously curious about your diet. I thought aging was irreversible... until my mid 30s, when I found low carb and intermittent fasting. Energy and the youthful looks of early 30s came back.

It's all about how you look. Doesn't matter if you are 70, if you look 30 then live like that, who would say anything?

As some one your age I think you have some poor expectations. When I was a kid I thought I would still enjoy cartoons when I grew up and in some ways I still do but im no longer that kid same as when I turn 60 one day I will look back at 39 being some other person. I just don’t worry about getting old we only have the now

I have noticed two kind of people: the ones who had fun when they where "kids" and "fuck school" attitude and worked shit jobs (also me) and the one who focused and work hard for their future and accomplished somethings. Now when they got a little bit "older" ( 30-40 years old) the people who "partied" when they where young they say that they wish spend more time working and studying. The people who worked and studied hard wish they had more fun when they were young. I don't know what conclusion to take from this... its just an observation

32 in October. Feel like I've wasted my life since I was about 15. Spent so much time gaming, mindless internet browsing, porn, weed. Haven't done much travel, only have 1 good friend. I'm directionless, with no purpose or goals. I work for a bank and my job is 100% remote, in a week I probably work less than 4 hours. So I have lots of time, but I just feel a bit apathetic/lazy/unmotivated to do much. Trying to create some goals now…such as going to gym, reducing internet/porn usage, reading etc. But I am struggling to do it because it's so easy to just numb yourself looking at bullshit on screens nowadays.

By the way thinking some guy who shows up at the club as an old loser is a loser mentality judgment young guy who isn’t doing well mental game wise. If I wanted to go to a club at 79 I would and if every one thought I was a loser so what it’s a bunch of losers calling the one winner there a loser. 39 is awesome
