Thanks! Nice video! I will be using one as a backup to solar charging a 5.2 KWh battery system. The AC input for charging is about 550 watts and at my elevation of 6,700’ here in central Mexico it will be at almost full capacity.

I've owned many generators but I've never seen one with a light built in. That's a great idea. There may be one of these in my future.

It's actually fairly common in much bigger generators as in pole behind. I can't remember if I've seen another generator in the smaller categories do this or not but this is definitely one of the few if not only. It's a good feature and I don't know why it hasn't trickled down.

@@imark7777777 If I do get one of these the light wouldn't be part of the decision making process but it would be a nice bonus. I have more flashlights than any sane person would have. That being said on the one or two occasions I have needed the little light on the side of my "solar generator" it has sure been handy.

I bought mine at Overland Expo West. I use it to run my Zero Breeze A/C in my small offroad teardrop. It never comes out of eco mode, so it's even more quiet. I also have a Honda EU-1000 that I no longer use since I got this one. The only thing I don't like are the colors, mine is an insane bright blue. Also it's a puresine so you can run a computer if needed.

Since you have both how loud is this generator compared to the Honda?

Two questions if I may? 1. While ALP generators are based in the US, I would like to know where the unit is actually manufactured/assembled? Some foreign engine manufactures are great, some, not so good. 2.Your review convinced me that you had a wonderful experience with your unit. I assume that while you may have thrashed the unit well for testing so we do not have to, you kept up a high level of maintenance? What was missing in the review, total operating hours for the time you owned the gen-set? Thank you for taking time to post this information.

This video the guy explains where it's manufactured kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q6h0eJyWyanbYGg.html which I believe with China however he had a lot of requirements for actually having some thing that would sell well in the US market. Which drastically changed their idea of what they were going to sell.

One question I have is can it be stored on it's side? I know 4-stroke engines don't like being set on certain sides for storage but even outboard motors have one side that it is OK to set them on without the oil running into the cylinder. We have a spot where this would tuck in and out of the way for storage but it would need to be on its side to fit in there. 1000w is too much power for us but nobody makes smaller generators these days. If we had a generator it would only be used rarely to charge our four 6v golf cart batteries on our sailboat. We currently have 400w of solar and 200w of wind. If the sun is shining the wind turbine shuts down once the charge voltage gets much past 14v some time in the morning and we often get to equalize charge by 11-12 O'clock. But in the winter there are days where the sun doesn't shine and sometimes the wind doesn't blow either. If we owned one of these it would probably never go off of eco mode even when charging the batteries as hard/fast as they could take a charge. We could always start the main diesel engine and charge with the alternator but that is sort of hard on a bigger diesel sailboat engine to run for a couple of hours with almost no load. It would be like starting your truck and letting it idle to charge your trailer house bank. Not optimal in the long run. Replacement diesel engines run $20-30k Installed and every hour on the meter is running the clock towards that day when it needs to be rebuilt or replaced.

When you charge your trailer batteries what mode do you run it in and how long do you typically have to run the Alp. I have an off grid trailer expedition 2.0 and have not upgraded from lead acid batteries yet. Great video!

Having the 200watt hours of lithium batteries in your Turtleback, have you used the gene to charge your batteries, and if so, how did that go and how long did you need to run the gene to get to full from __? Thanks!!

I wonder how much heat you can get using a eclectic space heater using this generator with a 20lb tank, or a propane heater running on a 20lb tank.

I can find a few cons for you right of the top off my head without spending 12 month with this thing. 1. No QDC. Why there's no QDC? It's pretty much must have for LPG only unit. Many multifuel models DO have QDC. 2. No toolless quick access to engine compartment for service that has to be done quite often. 3. Low power. They call this a 1000W unit, but it's not. In some cases it's not even 850W, but at least call it what it is, a 850W unit. Can use parallel is a ridiculous counterargument. 4. No cigarette lighter port. Instead we have USB ports that 99% of users will never use. 5. Eco mode and kill switches could be much better and much more distinguishable from each other. 6. No voltage or load indicators. All in all if this unit worked flawlessly for 12 month then it's a good unit. The flaws are there though regardless and they are glaringly obvious. So it looks to me like you're just shilling this thing. This makes me question your honesty in whole. Now that I think about it this thing doesn't look like it was used much. Too pristine. But maybe you just was very gentle with it, who knows.

QDC? It does have regulated DC output however on the weird DC connection usually used on generators. Since it comes with a cord it would be perfect to be spliced with some Anderson connectors and then it's just a matter of getting a cigarette to Anderson cable.
@1stRanger
@1stRanger Жыл бұрын
@@imark7777777 Do you even know what QDC is? Also. This crap connector is not Anderson. It's a proprietary garbage. From I know it was Honda's attempt to re-invent the wheel, but eventually even they dropped this piece of crap. So on one hand we have proprietary Honda crap meant only for charging the battery and on the other we have a port that's being used on every single 12v powered vehicle accessory. I know what I'd chose. Another obvious choice would be actual Anderson connector, that's also being widely used. But they made the worst choice possible. Crap even Honda dropped.

It's hard to tell in videos because of the mic and circuitry. Most cameras will default to automatic gain which will just turn the volume up until it gots noise and it can't distinguish between speech or noise.
