I've just got hold of an old Amek TAC 2B that needs a good deal of tidying up, this guide is invaluable! I've seen some people grease the fader tracks, but I can't find any real consensus on if this is a good idea or not. I see that you don't bother. I'd be interested to hear your take.

Hi, thanks! Any other console of these years needs a good cleaning. I also have Amek :) I cleaned faders on the Big 44. Not to say that they began to work badly (through the faders in the Big does not coming the audio signal, they control the VCA's), just they were never cleaned for 20 years, and I opened one of them, and inside was a pile of dust... A fader track with vertical tracks design should not be lubricated. It is designed for dry driving, and most of the dust falls to the bottom of the fader and not on the track. Such a fader designed for a long life and easily disassembled for quick cleaning. Slightly lubricate only the metal guides (rails). If you grease the track, the dust will remain on the track. With time It will turn into an abrasive porridge, which will speed up the wear of the carbon track (this is the main problem of wear of small non-disassembling faders with horizontal track).

Thanks for the detailed answer. I have followed your procedure closely with good results. My main issue was not dust or hair inside the fader but rust on the rails. I cleaned the tracks down, removed as much rust as possible then applied a small amount of oil to the rails to prevent a repeat build up of rust and lubricate. Now they are all working perfectly! Still took 3 nights to do 24 properly but it is like a new desk now.

Hello, I wanted to know if there is a way to put a USB port on the Roland VS 2400 CD in order to export the recorded tracks directly to the computer and where I can find a new Display for the Roland VS 2400 CD or even used in good condition. Thank you

Oh, sorry for the long answer. Try to go this way: www.thegoodlibrary.com/VSWaveExport.php If there was a device like an CD/DVD-drive emulator with a USB or CF card slot, this would probably be the ideal solution, so that it could simply be inserted in place of the existing CD-drive. Alas, I have not yet found such solutions... For the internal LCD display, I do not have. Try contacting Roland's head office in Japan, they may have some of the parts, or look at Ebay, there is sometimes someone selling used parts for 2400. But all users usually work with an external VGA display, so the internal screen is not so necessary...

Hello Anthony, good morning, do you have Fader for VS 2400? Thanks Ryldo

Hello Ryldo, sorry for the long answer. I unfortunately for 2-3 years do not have any more stock of new original faders (fortunately now I do not need them, since I made a custom mod and installed long 100-mm Alps). Try to contact Roland's service department in your country or Japan head office. They gave up support and maintenance of these things, but they should have some stock of parts, I think that it is possible to negotiate a direct purchase.
