Hi Matt, thanks for commenting and the question. For CNC I have a Camaster Panther 5x8 and ramping up on it myself. I was delayed with adding a new main panel and sorting out vacuum pump particulars which are not covered by Camaster even thought I bought the vacuum pump from them. For example I had to source my own motor starter and figure out the motor wiring, when I called Busch Mink (pump manufacturer) they said we make pumps and just buy the motors. My electrician was stumped there were five or six leads the thing is the wires are numbered. But that is my next video zero to hero on CNC how to get setup, what you need, what the sales people don't tell ya. The speed of this machine is pretty high far exceeds capacity in my shop. There are guys that cut MDF for other shops its a money maker for them just not the kind of product I want to produce. Other CNC machines are Onsrud, AXYZ, ShopSabre, Biesse not a complete list but all of those are good.

Felder availability was 10-12 months Altendorf 2-3, I had issues working with sales in my area, lack of salesperson availability, difficulty in past experiences getting my machines after they arrived at the warehouse. That was issue #1 second item was quality of the machine for this level of investment the Altendorf has a proven track record. Ranking brands Altendorf and Martin are tied for first imo the Felder is a good third place saw value priced.

@@jaybowen9454 I appreciate the response. I’m a design builder and have wanted to build a new shop with excellent machinery. I have been building custom homes for many many years. I am ready to build doors and cabinets as well as built ins and some furniture in the near future as I bow out of contracting. I have looked at all of the machines you have mentioned as well as SCM. I really liked the Altendorf and Martins the best. I liked the slider on the Altendorf best, and was intimidated by the weight of the Martin. What are your thoughts on the big planers, jointers and shapers from these companies. Martins machines were impressive but some of the other brands seemed very good and although expensive they were considerably less then Martin.

@@shamuprendergast5059 Hi Shamu, for jointer planers and other classic machinery there are more options. Starting at the low end a 20” powermatic helical is what Pedulla woodworks uses for thickness planer thats $5000 usd has table extensions moving up is Felder, then SCM then Martin on the too. Felder has good machines but you will find many more SCM’s in a commercial shop. Felder is growing more into the commercial space and the machines have a newer look and design than SCM. The challenges I have has with Felder were unrelated to the machine it was getting the quote, Felder accepting the rest of the balance and getting it shipped out of warehouse. Closing thoughI waited 10 months for Felder machinery because I wanted all same brand. That was silly, life is short you can get a minimax or SCM within a few weeks.

$36k bare bones nicely loaded $45k suspect that is based on supply and demand, show specials, fully loaded $50k+ I guess. For example you can get dual tilt main blade optionally dual scoring that's a few thousand right there. I believe those options include electronic adjustment of scoring blade 2/3 axis instead of manual width axis even though this system is brilliant. Martin is similarly priced but when you add radio compens fence you automatically step into the deluxe display for compound angles where Altendorf it is a bit more cafeteria plan buying one upgrade does not force you into several others necessarily.
