Thank you! I will try anything..that way in life too😂. I’m happy you are enjoying my learning process in mixed media--I tend to be a little all over the place but I do like to explore and experiment 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Wow, I’ve never seen this technique before. It looks so good! I love using composition notebooks for my art journals, but I tend not to do much with the covers. I’m definitely going to have to give this a try. Just found your channel this morning. Subscribed and looking forward to watching many more videos!

The one you made is right up my granddaughter's alley. I need to make our art journal we pass back and forth. This will be perfect for the cover.

I love this series! You have so many fabulous ideas for decorating composition books. I loved learning about momigam, and your cover using that technique is fabulous! I will be looking for some coconut oil in my future!!! LOL. TFS 🙏💞

I I loved this!! What kind of coconut oil did you use? New subscriber as of today! EDITED- I just did this to my composition book cover and 1) it was so easy to do 2) it looks fabulous!!! I definitely will be making more for gifts! One more question- the Mod Podge Hard Coat- is that like a matte varnish?

Hmm, I would have thought that the oil on the paper would prevent it from adhering to the cover. However, apparently not. Was that regular mod podge you used to glue it down? Love the book, thank you.

Glue down without issue…I used my home made mod podge to initially glue it down kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aJiXlpB1t8vKnXk.html I used mod podge hard coat for the final coat. Glad you liked the book!

Very interesting process….after crumpling the paper with the coconut oil is there any wait time for the oil to be absorbed or dry?

I usually do a bunch and then let them sit for an hour or two, but once you finish your final kneading it has been absorbed from my experience.

Beautiful. I have tried Momigami with a different oil but the pages after weeks still feel not totally dry some of the oil still rubs off. I noticed yours was still wet from the oil when you attached it. I guess when covering with the last layer of Mod Podge it is totally encased. I would like to use it in mixed media but do not want to cover it with hard coat mod podge.

I’ve used it without the hard coat, but I backed it with another paper when putting in a signature or applied with a gel medium when using in a journal. I would give reducing the amount of oil you use a try as the pages should dry. I like the process as it gives a total different look to a magazine page, I can only do about six in a setting as my hands get fatigued!

Maybe I missed this, but what kind of glue do you use for the momigami? Isnt the glue repelling the oil soaked paper?

I used a glue and water mixture to collage and had no issues with adherence or longevity. I did one of these months ago as well and use it on a daily basis for work. It gets knocked around in my briefcase and I haven’t had any issues!

Thank you….she is a pretty spoiled horse, her name is Callie. She likes to be involved in whatever is going on outside-when the weather gets nice again and I start cyanotypes and ecodying-you’ll see her frequently 😂

I tried the paper treatment (umagachi?) and didn't get the results you had. It hurt my hands too because it was taking forever to do it. Looks good on your journal though!

Momigami does take some patience…I think using inexpensive(thin) magazine pages speeds up the process a bit but you do sacrifice color a bit with these.
