90% of the outcome in a street fight depends on what you do before it starts. Subscribe to my channel : / creativecombats
Actually, most of them are ego-based, and can be resolved by verbal and non-verbal de-escalation (calm talk and non-threatening body language).
If the situation spins out of control and you can't help fighting your opponent, set up your first strike carefully. Keep the attacker busy talking, thinking, processing what you're telling him. Use this time to determine where and how to strike. Land a hit while he's still talking, and make it count!
The same psychological technique can be useful when the opponent holds a gun to your head or a knife to your throat. By talking to him you will distract him, get his train of thought away from cutting you or shooting you in the head. Once the distraction has worked, make your move!

A nice trick is to ask your attacker "Who was the 14th President of the United States?" Then while he's thinking you stab him and say "Franklin PIERCE!" Works every time.

Many people here are insulting the instructor for teaching to throw cheap shots. Cheap shots? And attacking people isn't cheap? Attacking people with your friends 6 on 1 isn't cheap? Using guns isn't cheap? Attacking people SMALLER than you isn't cheap? Don't talk to me about being cheap. A preemptive strike when the attacker isn't 100% ready is perfectly moral. And if they don't like it, they shouldn't have seek an engagement where they thought they were a superior fighting force.

As right as you are, if its a one on one situation in society they will use against you that you struck first. However everything he said in this video is correct about thought cancellation. 1 on 1 its frowned upon to strike first especially in that manner

These days ya never know what an assailent is preperred to do to you. I was trained to try and talk my way out of anything. BUT, if I ever feel as though that will not work, STRIKE when it is not expected. Granted my trainer was Kung fu, and Gorilla tacktics. Also a navy seal in Vietnam, prized body builder and all around f ing Nut case so he taught me the extreme, but the theory remains, when some one is trying to do you harm, Protect your self at ANY and ALL costs. If he has any form of weapon, there is no question if he is prepared to use it. If he pulls out a knife or gun, like in this demo, I am thinking he IS prepared to use it. If he is not, he Never shoulda pulled it out I would rather be judged by 12 of my piers than carried off by 6 of them!!!!!!!!!!!!!

George Allensen regardless if you threw the first hit they have already assaulted you by coming within 10 yards of your personal space if someone comes into your personal space and you feel threatened by anything about them you have a right to defend yourself within reason if its during the day different story but if its at night and your walking home you are allowed to attack first cause you don't know if they have a knife or a gun who cares if anyone slanders you even if it is 1 on 1 you got to walk home and be with the ones you love and not laying in a pool of your own blood waiting for the cops and ambo's to arrive

Because there are a lot of good fighters, but they dont have ability to express it to others. You dont have 100.000$ camera, but your video is effective and the message is sent exacly where it needs to be. Thank you Nick ! Greetings from Albania

Ken D. Webber Why would the robber kill me, if he got the money? A gunshot gets immediate attention. A corpse leads to at least minimal police investigation and *serious* punishment if he is caught. "stop being a victim with a victim's mentality." Stop being a self righteous kid, who wants to be a hero. Actually... Yes, be a hero, but do this by living, providing for your family, being a good friend, helping the community etc. etc. not by trying out youtube-techniques against random, armed thugs.

If someone is coming at you saying "I'm gonna kick your ass" and has his hands on you, you're not going to get into trouble. Offer to call the cops and have them come in to discuss the fact that you didn't make physical contact nor did you initiate the altercation to begin with but that you're not about to get laid out flat. Also explain that you are not the bully. That tends to help.

I had a guy do that to me. He came up, told me to move from my seat. I stood up, he cold cocked me and knocked my glasses off my face. Unfortunately for him, I countered by my thumb to his eye and bit the shit out of his forehead and nose. Then, I grabbed his hair and pulled him down so that my power hand was into his neck, side, ribs, then a knee to his nose did him into the ground. A cop came and asked me if I wanted to put him under citizen's arrest. I talked to the guy, he gave me a couple hundred dollars, on the spot, to replace my glasses. The cop called it a civil compromise and no one was arrested. The "sucker puncher" does NOT always win and your advice can get you dead. I could have hurt that guy to the point of his life being taken (one punch to the lower part of the back of his head). Never sucker punch an ex-special forces veteran with 10 years military experience and trained well..... I almost took the dude's left eye out with my right thumb, but stopped myself - I was no longer in combat!!! I saw the guy 2 years later at a gas station and asked if he wanted to sucker punch me again. He jumped back into his truck without getting gas.... Case closed... So, don't assume the fight will end quickly or on one punch.....

Guy F There are smart criminals. Just because they get caught committing an unlawful act against another person, that doesn't diminish their overall intelligence. I'm not a criminal and not nearly as smart as a lot of others, but at least I know it's stupid to place a handgun right up on somebody's head while robbing them. If I was going to commit a robbery I would do it at minimum of a few arms lengths away because I wouldn't know what the person is capable of.

@izzojoseph2

USNVA - actually, no. I didn't. It's funny how staring down the inside of a shot gun barrel makes you forget almost everything - even what the guy just demanded! The hand guns - well, no one was on the level back then, which is to say, the stuff I had stolen wasn't even real! fake drugs. Like I said, I was an idiot. I just gave them what they wanted and sped or ran away. most of the time, taking one person's gun wouldn't have mattered because the other people with him had guns also. It wasn't like a one on one situation. Also, back then, I had no training so I'd have probably shot myself! Things are different now. Since I've been out of that lifestyle, I haven't had any problems. This is all a rabbit trail, though. The real point was that, those wielding the gun set themselves up for failure.

Raptor Jesus Yeah but if you are both in a kind of... fight setting, there's no such thing as a "sucker punch" which i previously talked about. What I meant was that the video seemed to give people the idea that they should suckerpunch people instead of just walk away or something. If you're being subject to a threat and can't get away etc - ALWAYS fucking defend yourself, or try to run. Of course.

Hmmm. just remember that when you assault someone first; that makes YOU the attacker, and the other person becomes the victim. Remember this, all of you who have done time, and DON'T want to go back. In 26 states, a "self-defense" Law doesn't exist. you can be kidnapped, and beaten half to death, but if you attack or kill in self-defense; you will most likely be charged with assault, and/or manslaughter. This point can be proven by acknowledging the records of all states that don't allow you to physically and combatively protect yourself. know your shit, and remember. The person you want to physically assault. May not have to be dealt a barbaric hand. And that years of your life in prison, are never worth a simple assault that escalated, and those years can never be given back to you ( I promise you this ). So, strongly consider walking/running away in situations like this. If you think, "that's pussy shit"... you've missed the point. Please don't ever think it's cool to hurt people. I mean, wouldn't that upset you to find out that your loved ones got beat by somebody? Then what? Beat them back, and have to visit with your loved ones through Plexiglas in lock-up, for years to come? That's what people do when they don't think intelligently, or quickly enough. Don't be that... don't be a bad example.
@MThaiKid
@MThaiKid 10 жыл бұрын
I strongly agree walking or running away is the best thing to do. If you are unable to walk away and you assailant is stocking you and lays his hands on you, then its self-defense. Its a simple case of Judged by 12 or carried out by 6 decision. The police will almost always charge both people for assault, regardless of what who hit first. But the charges could be dropped if you're careful. When asked "What Happened"? The only thing the police have to be told "I tried to walk away, I got stalked and attacked. I then acted in self-defense, I was scared for my life" - Thereafter, if they still charge you with assault, remember "NO STATEMENT" to the police without first consulting with a lawyer. They will try to scare you and say "Oh you want a lawyer, so you're guilty then". Cops are complete pricks and they use pressure tactics to make their life simple. They don't care, they just want to go home without having to deal with the paperwork or future court cases. In court, the judge, defense lawyer and prosecutors will look at the reputation and history of both people. They will review what exactly happened and what led up to the fight. Its your word against his. A known criminal has almost no chance. Your everyday citizen will likely get off. However, be warned if you have Martial-Arts training you must warn your attacker. Yes it may escalate the situation, but say it just before you strike. Otherwise, your assault gets upgraded to Aggravated Assault, or Aggravated Assault with a deadly weapon. To cops and judges, you're expected to retrain yourself, due to your training, which makes it difficult to shake the Assault charge. But I would rather be charged with Assault, rather being dead. Source of info: Been there done that .... a few times.
@wilsongulick4608
@wilsongulick4608 10 жыл бұрын
You do realize that if the person already shoved you as demonstrated in the video they already committed assault, right? Also, there is no state in the union where you have to accept physical (touching) harassment as long as you can articulate a good reason for doing what you did. The guy was way bigger than you, obviously drunk and put his hands on so you broke his nose? Cool, he committed assault. Same situation and you went American History X on him? You're arrested, because the response was unreasonable in the context of the aggression you experienced.. The standard in all 50 states is: that you felt threatened enough to respond with violence, because you have the right to defend yourself. The question then is if the level of violence you responded with was commensurate with the level of threat. No threat means no response. A lethal threat can warrant a lethal response. The real question is if, in hindsight, you can explain to the cops/jury/DA that under the same circumstances a "reasonable person" would have administered the same amount of force that you did, or would have thought it reasonable to do so. How each State treats this issue if different, some states have very high standards while others have virtually none. I'm not a lawyer, but this sort of shit pisses me off. If you haven't bothered to look up the law then STFU. You have a Constitutional right to defend yourself in any instance where a court could not provide you proper recompense for your injury or couldn't provide the same for another person you were protecting. (since a court can't make you walk or live again or replace that woman's eye the rapist wanted to rip out).

MThaiKid Where in the U.S. do you have to warn the person you have martial arts training? Honestly curious. I've lived all over the place and never heard that other than from the retards who claim a black belt means you have to register your fists as a deadly weapon!
@TheRussRave
@TheRussRave 10 жыл бұрын
Wilson Gulick I'm not from the US Wilson but I have practiced martial arts for many years and know a lot of black belts also. Most of my closest friends are very highly trained artists and they all say the same thing,.. some have court experiences and so let me give you some feedback. Not only do you not have to advise the assailant that you have training or are a "black belt", but your shouldn't do that at all as it may inflame the guy and escalate a verbal altercation to a physical one. As far as registering your body parts as lethal weapons,.. it's a total myth, BUT here's the thing. If you go before a magistrate or a judge on either an assault charge or a self defense charge where the other guy suffered a beating at your hands then you'd better have a very good explanation when the judge discovers that you have had training because he will know that you have been trained to know what is hurtful and what is deadly and that you also would know how to apply the minimum force or restraint in order to defend and diffuse or end a fight. If the judge feels you used excessive force and that you had knowledge of the effects of that and still used it when you could have avoided it then you will likely suffer a very bad judgement on the day. The only real time you can justify excessive force is when you are perhaps cornered, and a group attack is involved and perhaps weapons too. Your objective should be to avoid the fight or to end it in the shortest time possible with minimal injury to your opponent. It's not only the right thing to do but the honorable one also!

Wilson Gulick - I was training up in Seattle on a visit and ran into a couple of police officers while hitting pads. I asked about self-defense. Personally speaking, I'm trained to hit first ask questions later. If I'm backing up and my opponents refuses to step away, I'm going to strike. The problem is, was I acting in self-defense or offense. Well, if I warned my opponent that I've been trained to defend myself and then hit after repeated warnings, the judge will lean toward dropping my charges. If I just hit without warning, the judge could stay the charges. The obvious issue is, if I warn my opponent that I have been trained to defend myself, he might feel threatened and definitely attack. That said, psychologically speaking I want to frustrate my opponent anyways, forcing them to make a mistake, which could be blindly running into my fist. This strategy is great, because your opponent wears himself down before any punches are even thrown. (I have a bit of fight experience). I don't mind a good fight (without weapons), after all the more I train the better. In some situations its just not possible to warn others, this is where you say to the judge "I was fearful for my life and felt I had no choice but to put my opponent down, before he killed me". That all said, I don't advocate street fighting. Avoid if possible, stand your ground if you have no choice. The best defense is running.

I can see people's point of hitting first can make you the actual attacker, and in a way I agree.. But it's got to the point now where verbal abuse and threats of violence is in itself a type of assault. Ignoring the gun / knife for second, because that's less common in the UK where I'm speaking from.. I'm generally a passive person and don't advocate violence, but people shouldn't be able to verbally abuse others for no reason nor intimidate or threaten them, and even if they didn't strike first, I'd want to defend myself against such abuse because they have no right to treat people like that. So this lesson was beneficial. Of course I'm not gonna go hitting anyone that calls me a dick or gets in my face, but if I feel abused or threatened, even before any physical harm has occurred, I'd like to think I'd be able to defend myself and stand my ground. Thanks.

Nobody is suggesting that you smash anyone and everyone who gets in your face. If you're being aggressed, put your hands up in a defensive posture (Actually, you are creating a "fence" ) and step back. If he steps forward to fill the gap, step back again. Be talking the whole time. The moment he steps forward again, either switch to an alternate strategy or nail him. Yes, the strike is premptive but the "assault" doesn't begin with the first strike and in a world of CCTV, you have backed away in the face of an assault not once but twice before taking decisive action. Yes, you are "playing to the audience" but you are also making 100% sure that you are striking appropriately. The alternate strategies like posturing (switch into verbally aggressive mode and give him a shove to create the space that allows him to leave) will avoid escalating a lot of conflicts but it might be a bad idea if there is an audience because if he doesn't back down, you will be perceived as the bad guy and those people in the audience just might end up on a witness stand..

Talking from xperience, if you want to win the fight you gotta attack first, bullies or whatever , hit them while they're talking shit to you, and they will never bother you again, if you just let them torture you over and over , then its not gonna get any easier for you my friend, hit first and be done with it, not saying to encourage anyone to fight , its not a problem solver, just a tip for bullies, because they wont leave you alone otherwise... but anyone with a gun is a moron, if you dont wanna get hurt just do what they say, its not right i know but usually people that rob other people at gun point will do anything possible to get money, and you dont want to lose your life over some cash, let the police do their job at returning your property that he stole later on and dont try to be a hero...

its all up, some people are amazing trolls and might start the aggression, just verbal, or pushing you aside, and then pretend to be cool or simply ignore you leaving you confused, then you will feel awkward at first, like you are talking with a friend and another guy comes in between and pushes you aside to talk with the other guy, you will have to punch hard a guy who is an asshole and attacked you mildly but now is engaged in a conversation, but you should attack...there are lots of possible situations...its not simple, ideally none would like to have to attack none or fight, other than for sport training, but this world is increasingly full with shit people and selfish jerks who would take everything...

Clearly this guy is an idiot. When you initiate a fight you have now legally put yourself as the aggressor or attacker. You allowed yourself to get baited into a conflict you most likely could have defused and walked away from to being the attacker in the eye of the law. So when and if you bust the guy's jaw and smash his face in you're the one in serious legal trouble if you get caught, which is highly likely. Street fights are not MMA fights or professional fights. Street fights can put you in jail and hold you accountable for injuries to others that can cost YOU hundreds of thousands of dollars. If you want to fight.... fight in the ring not the streets. And if you find yourself in a situation when you sense or see problems, strange situations, conflict, and or potential violence ......your very best weapon is you legs............turn around and walk or run the other way and avoid conflict and problems at all cost. Avoiding the situation is the best way to protect yourself.
@DerAngriff
@DerAngriff 9 жыл бұрын
What if you're with your kid? or lady? Someone not able to run? or you yourself are not fit? In such cases the ability to get away is not there. You might be responding to many of the MMA wannabes who want to bust a jaw for the 'fun of it' but there are actually plenty of joe citizens here too, who understand legal consequence but also their right to survive. Many situations are avoidable. Some are not. It is in the latter category that we need to consider options. I don't know your story mate but not everywhere is safe and has been shown many times over, that even where people have felt safe, violence has erupted. The Police can't escort you as you go about your business. The Police are more often than not, 'after an event has occurred' arrival. Too late! In a matter of survival would you truly worry about legal consequence? All that is explored in this video is an option. It is also educational in the sense that just by watching it, you see how vulnerable YOU are. Just by watching this video, you 'might' be more attuned to your environment, or if someone is lining you up for a cheap shot. The MMA wannabe's can do their thing. I don't care about them. I've got a son on the way and now I think about things that I glossed over before. I think people talking about legal consequences have a good point but I also wonder if they are still cocooned and have yet to encounter serious personal physical violence (not pushing matches or weak punches). I asked another poster who commented similarly to you about whether he'd been in a proper fight. They are scary as shit. Too much too lose (dudes are stomping you these days). I can only presume he hasn't because automatic responses of legal consequences in no way take into account the actual reality of the violence that can confront us. We don't need to seek it, we can just be in the wrong place, wrong time. As a soon to be father, I can not allow myself to remove options for survival simply because of the law. The law is not there to protect me if I get bounced on my evening run. Or if I bump a dude's arm at a bar and the apology isn't enough. Or if I get into a road rage incident where someone wants to make it their mission to smash me. Perhaps one day you'll have an epiphany too that the awesome life you have could all change in just a couple of minutes. Are you a father, mate? Stay cool.

DerAngriff Enjoy court. I can tell by your personality you look for conflict. So it makes sense you are not able to find ways to not put yourself in a situation where you think avoidance first and defense lastly. You clearly have a personal philosophy that does not allow you to think of and anticipate situations that can lead to conflict and deal with them as a mature and logical person. It takes a much stronger and wiser person to do as I suggest and I understand some just cannot do it. Enjoy being sued or jailed.
@DerAngriff
@DerAngriff 9 жыл бұрын
goldsilverandiamonds Thanks for a proper human response. Respect. We can't presume to know each other from a few words shared in a YT clip. I have made assumptions about you also that may well be incorrect. You say my personality seeks conflict - this is incorrect and I seek to avoid it where possible. However, unlike you, I don't presume to believe there is always the easy way out. If you have a child and your set upon. You can't run away. If you're actually not physically fit enough, then you won't be able to run away. How can you defuse/de-escalate a situation when the person confronting you may be on drugs or suffer mental illness? You do not have to be in a 'bad part of town' to be attacked. Your comments do not address this. You assume that people play by your rules. By society's. Unfortunately, this is not the case. I try to avoid potential situations by not going to certain venues or walking/jogging late at night. I rarely drink these days and if I do, it's at a mates place. Bars/club violence here can be bad. But there is only so much mitigation I can do without someone else injecting their bad day unto me and mine. I don't glorify violence. I don't seek combat. I'm not stupid either. All it takes is for you to be in the wrong place and at the wrong time and you're life will never be the same. "You clearly have a personal philosophy that does not allow you to think of and anticipate situations that can lead to conflict and deal with them as a mature and logical person." That's an eye opening comment there. Mostly because of the unreality of it - or the fact that you are boilerplate templating your way of life, culture and experiences onto me. We live in different places/spaces mate. What underpins my comments here are my experiences and knowledge shaped by environment. At the end of the day, I must disagree with your position. I have a kid on the way, mate. I have to think of risks -even remote ones. This isn't about wanting to bash someone. Keep an open mind to other realities and circumstances, mate. If responding, please leave the snark out. In your words 'as a mature and logical person'. Cheers

True Slice well, thats the risk you take making the choice. give the money and unlikely getting shot for no reason which actually happens rarely and take a safer route or be ballsy and take care of the situation abit more "aggressively" and make a bigger risk of getting killed for money with your credit card but not losing your money. One man once said nothing cannot be achieved with out taking some form of risk, most of the time, the bigger the risk, the bigger the prize. of course there are flaws to that saying lol

Its not a fight if you are shouting or talking it starts being a fight when the first strikes are landed. Many a fight ends at the pushing stage because it will be broken up or you come to an agreement so by initiating a fight you put yourself at risk. Only ever do it if you think they are definitely going to strike you may as well go mental just a bit before.

+Peter Farell - To make a direct threat with the capacity to carry it out is a crime and subjects the goon so employed to arrest. And if you're standing there without a gun and hand cuffs and you need to arrest some thug from assailing you, you've got to do that generally by battering his face. There's other means, guillotine choke him into sleepy time or whatever. But the point remains, people don't have to hit you to warrant you defending yourself from their hostility. What's important, is that you're blameless of starting the fight. That instead you were abiding the law, minding your own business when some knucklehead came up and made an issue with you, imposing upon you the threat of physical violence.

Anyone who , unprovoked, initiates a fight, deserves whatever they get. When some gutless subhuman points a knife or gun at you, it's obvious that this is not an invitation to join a prayer meeting. Use whatever you can to either escape, or thrash the living shit out of them. I was taught as a child to never start trouble, but if someone started it with me, I had to hit back, only HARDER, and continue until they gave up all ideas of messing with me. Eye gouge, groin kick, hair pull, solar plexus punch, the works. A school bully used to attack me during lunch recess with its gang in tow, and I coped by running away. Came the day when said bully decided that I would never fight back, and so felt brave enough to attack me in a solo assault. I grabbed his hair, brought his head down to connect with my knee, then rubbed his ugly face into some gravel. His screams of agony were lovely to hear. He never came near me again, nor did his horrible gang. Cowards only understand one thing, and that is pain, delivered with compound interest.
