Nicely done! Enjoyed your reaction and glad you were open to Maidiac feedback! “Blooming” is a masterpiece. I paid attention to your commentary and what made you stop in your tracks. Where to next? Here are my respectful suggestions: 1) “Rinne/Reincarnation,” if you want some 8th note drum kicks, darker tones and lower register melody. Metallica fan? This is your jam 2) “Black Hole,” official live video (starts @4:22 of double video Manners/Black Hole) if you’d prefer 16ths double kicking your eardrums in the mosh pit 3) “Warning!” Official music video. In case you didn’t mind the melodies inside a hard rocking song. Kick, kick snare rapid fire drums here. Glad you’re having fun with the Maids. The more you listen, the more you’ll find that Band-Maid has created their own genre of music. I call them “hard rock fusion,” but even that doesn’t cover it all. They’ll be touring the central and west coast of the USA in the fall. Seeing them live is the most fun anyone could have with their clothes on

thank you for the recommendations and I am taking the top one from this video for the next song, and you hit on it with Warning. Of course I won't stop there because you are hitting the nail on the head. and thank you for paying attention to the commentary with the recommendations. Ah, 'RINNE'. An excellent choice by our resident BAND-MAID Song Sommelier, Garry. 'RINNE' has a robust bouquet, full of monochrome graininess that matches the overall aesthetic of the song. Plus, it pairs beautifully with 'Blooming', as they are from the very same album, *Conqueror.* Cheers!🍷

I'm 43 years old. Grew up listening to bands like Scorpion, GnR, Metallica, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Pantera and to my penultimate group Linkin Park. Started to drift away from the genre in 2010 due to a lack of any notable bands and got hooked onto country-pop and Kpop. Fast forward to October 2022 and accidentally stumbled onto Band Maid. These girls rekindled my love for rock music but also opened up my ears to a whole new way of listening to a song. Hell, even LP sounds so boring to me now 😂

The 2 fer Manners / Blackhole live are a must , Black Hole being the fast paced type of song that you will like, but you need to settle down and groove to Manners first. As others have mentioned, Warning, Different, Rinne will be to your taste plus Non fiction Days, Real Existence live, Dice. But don't overlook anything else because they do not make bad, average or good songs, they just make great songs.

@Marcus_C51
@Marcus_C51 Жыл бұрын
@@chordprogressionpodcast Hey man, appreciate the reply! Glad to hear you're down the rabbit hole and getting acquainted with their material. Any that have really caught your ear? Knowing how much you love hardcore, fast intense songs I suggest Puzzle, which comes on like a sledgehammer but has alot of different changes along with dynamics. Moratorium kicks ass with a great riff and then has this great slower wicked section and Kanami comes in guns blazing on guitar. She usually keeps her solos at 8 to 12 bars which is cool because it always leaves us wanting more. Great audience participation Ohh ohhs that hopefully you'll get to sing live! Warning as others have mention is an unrelenting killer song. Secret My Lips and the non-fiction days are also bangers. One last recommendation is the live Manners into Black Hole-fasten your seat belt for Black Hole. Don't forget about their instrumentals onset and From now on too! Looking forward to seeing your reaction on the 28th, I admit I'm jealous you're seeing them next month-prepare to have your face melted! I had a ticket to see them in Seattle last October but got sick as a dog. If I could've shaken the intense dizziness making it hard to walk, I might've given it a shot but had to accept missing the show...Major disappointment. Oh no--I put some of their stuff on and I have to be careful-I end up in these 4 to 8 hour Band-Maid listen-a-thons! Of course any day spent listening to them is a good one. Wish I'd known about them before the pandemic hit, heard "Thrill" in early '21 though and became an instant fan. Us veteran guitarists love them. Misa's bass playing also is phenomenal (some of the best bass tone I've heard in awhile) along with Akane on drums. Anyway, welcome to being a Maidiac--enjoy the show!!!!

Thank you for reciting the BAND-MAID song. They are dressed as maids, but their playing techniques are top notch. A band that only looks like it should focus on their faces and appearances, but this music video mainly shows their playing hands in the dark. They are confident in their performance, which is backed up by good practice. If they provide beauty, catchy and elegant songs, they can't go without everyone's instructions. As a Japanese fan, I think so. Their concept is an alternative to serving customers with household chores It's about providing their great songs. Their live performances are of the same quality as their music videos and never disappoint their audiences. That's why they don't miss five hours of practice a day. In other words, they are ready to become professionals in providing music. As your reaction shows, BAND-MAID's songs are full of strong passion and energy. At the same time, there are many playing techniques, the melody is catchy, So they deprive the audience of their physical strength. As such, a song is always just under or less than 4 minutes long. Considering the fatigue of the audience on Live, it also includes the hospitality to those who value Live. Recommended songs are below. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/h8iphKZ705zWiZs.html kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fK6gqKiisqfHdJs.html

Why aren't they more popular in the US? Far be it from me to suggest that too many people hear with their eyes instead of their ears. They see the Maid outfits and immediately dismiss then Ladies as some manufactured group, like a boy band or boy group from the late 90's early 2000's. And far too many people attempt to compare the Ladies to Baby Metal, which they are manifestly are NOT in any way shape or form comparable other than being "Female" , "Japanese", and in the "Music Industry" There sound is different, the Ladies write 98% of their own music, they decide how it is arranged, recorded, and mixed. With Baby Metal, they write maybe 3-8% of their music and that being lyrics, they are not the arrangers, or Mixing and Mastering. They show up to the studio, record their tracks then leave. When Band-Maid enters the studio, they have been working on writing, and practicing so they come in, lay down their instruments and tweak them. Lay down the vocals and layer them over the instruments and then go from there until they are done with the mix they want. According to many reports, since the lockdowns, the Ladies recorded TWO albums, (one Full Length and one EP) at their homes, upgrading their equipment to record at home, and Kanami the main composer takes all of the parts and mixes it at her home studio. The completed files are then sent back and forth to the other members to get their tweaks and suggestions until they decide the song is finished. THEN they send it the record company. They send it when THEY say it is done, not when a record company says it is. Of course the record company has to mess with the songs a bit to show they are needed, which is how we get the horrendous compression on World Domination, especially The Dragon Cries. But too many people instead of listening with their "EARS" are listening with their "EYES". And that is the great shame.
@chordprogressionpodcast

I think you are absolutely correct in your analysis here. People in the US will look with their eyes first and if they don't see the "stereotypical" look they will pass it by. Early on with BabyMetal, I had so many people say not to listen to them just because of their look and their build. While Band Maid is different in how they write and record, and their build as a band, the struggles of not getting attention from US audiences is very similar. But once you hear with your ears with Band Maid, the illusion and the premonition is gone. And you are hooked

Great analysis. Band Maid uses a lot of slides! More than any band I have seen. If you like non stop high energy then the Warning MV should be next. Even has cars and explosions. Band Maid performed Blooming at the recent Welcome to Rockville festival in Daytona. I am linking an excellent fan cam of it. The sound is remarkably good for a fan cam. Can hear each instrument clearly. The video has time stamps. Blooming is at 8:06. The last 4 songs Screaming, Play, No God and Warning was non stop high energy hard rock (and some other genres mixed in). kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rNCKnrGW1K3RmJc.html

No pits? But that's my thing! Oh well that still wont deter me from seeing them in August. And I am not sure if my dad will fully get into them but he will love the guitar solo on Blooming. That would be a good place to start and take it from there.

@chordprogressionpodcast no pits really goes along with it being an older crowd. Miku did actively stop one in Austin this past tour. If your dad loves guitar solos Kanami is a revalation especially on the latest EP. From Now On(instrumental), Influencer, Unleash. Her guitar work is progressive and impeccable.

Fun reaction, good stuff. I think you'd like Dice mv, it seems like something that is also a faster style. I'd also recommend Domination live from their YT channel. It's more of a classic rock sound, but the fact that it's live and the technical proficiency of the band make it an excellent entry point for new listeners. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/h8iphKZ705zWiZs.html

thank you for the recommendations. I will check them out and likely react again at some point. I won't do a live video reaction until after I see them live... so after August 3rd lol
