Love your reactions. There is a group that I think you will get a real kick out of and I would truly enjoy seeing you react to. Pentatonix is a 5 member a capella group that has been around for 10 years. Forget what your preconceived notions of a capella might be since they have revolutionized the genre. There is no "barber shop" to this. They have won 3 Grammys and have multi-platinum EP's and albums. Their most popular video on YT is for their rendition of Leonard Cohen's classic 'Hallelujah' with over 560 million views. Overall their videos have over 6 BILLION views. While they are primarily considered a pop group it is impossible to put them in any particular box. Their covers/originals run the gamut of pop/R&B/soul/rock/gospel/CCM/rap and even EDM. All done without the benefit instruments, except for a few instances when the beatboxer breaks out his cello of which he is a world-class performer. They also have a devoted fanbase of Pentaholics who will flood your channel, to vicariously partake of your journey. A few suggestions to start with are the aforementioned 'Hallelujah', 'Imagine' (John Lennon), 'Daft Punk' (1st Grammy), 'Bohemian Rhapsody' (Queen), and 'Love Again' (original). There is also a very good quality live recording of their 2016 Popspring performance for MTV ( kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ba19e9SK3dbSqp8.html ) that features 3 originals and a Michael Jackson medley that will blow your mind. Please do consider it, because I think it would be really fun for both you and your viewers.

You guys, he was the drummer and background singer for the band Genesis. He never wanted to be a lead singer. When their lead singer left the band Phil. "filled in" while they tried to find a new one. The rest of the band realized that Phil was the best replacement. So that is the story of how he became the lead in 1975 when Peter Gabriel left. Then Phil went solo in 1981.

Phil Collins was a child actor before he became a drummer who sings a bit (!), so he knows how to get into the appropriate character to suit the song! Fun fact: He was an extra in an audience scene for the Beatles film 'A Hard Days Night' when he was in his early teens!

I rarely find the live versions better than the studio, but man, this is one of those great exceptions. Another one I would like to recommend to you: Queen performing 'Somebody to Love', live in concert, Montreal 1981. In his pre-AIDS days, this is Freddie at the top of his game. One of the absolutely best live videos ever.

This live video dates to Paris in 2003. It’s by far the best live version I’ve seen until Phil had to give up the drums in the early 2010s. The staging of this particular version is epic. (Basically, the instrumentals were layered out at twice the normal length, plus Phil’s going around the entire stage singing. It makes this the best live arrangement of In the Air Tonight I’ve ever heard, and I saw Phil live in 1987.

The whole performance and build up is killer. The staging and lighting! Then he just calmly sits and BAMB. The 'added' voice is from the keyboard player through a filter. It is all LIVE (except the drum machine) Check out the whole concert from Paris (2004). Amazing. Great R&B in there too. Such good musicians. And Phil does it all!

The live version of this song elevates it beyond the studio version; it's on of the ultimate upgrades you're going to see. Phil is the master of taking a studio song and kicking it up a ton. Yet it isn't even his BEST upgrade in concert. I've seen him four times and the Ultimate Upgrade from studio to live is his version of Sussudio. It's absolutely insane. Highly recommended.

Over a year later and your reactions are still perfectly on point !! great reaction. (I had to add an edit) If you enjoyed Phil's updated rendition of ' In The Air Tonight' , you might want to give a listen to Eric Clampton's grooved version of Layla ( I think they call it the accoustic version), but if you are familiar with Derek & the Dominoes' version, Eric's is a smooth different version. Heck I'd love to see / hear a back to back.

@@Isleofskye Wow, with Peter Gabriel? I respect Phil Collins but I LOVE Peter Gabriel. You have a few years on me, so you must have seen some great acts. I saw a few in the 80's but they were past their prime in most cases. Like the Who without Keith Moon, so I'm not sure if that really counts. And Robert Plant without Zeppelin. I'm glad I got to see Queen, though. And McCartney, when he first started touring again in the late 80's, and was still in full voice. Those are the two I really cherish.

@@Isleofskye Amazing. Of all of those, I would choose Floyd. I remember hearing that album for the first time - it belonged to my brother - and I thought, "What the hell IS this?" because my sensibilities weren't yet developed enough to appreciate it. I can only imagine what it was like for your first experience of the music to be played live right in front of you. Not long ago, I read an anecdote from someone who participated in the recording of Dylan's Blood on the Tracks, my favorite album of his. He said that they were just songs at the time, although he knew they were very good. But in time they became part of history, and even came to define it. On a related note, have you ever stopped to realize how lucky we are to be our age? It kind of sucks to get older, but consider that the vast majority of people in history lived and died without ever getting to hear the Beatles. And it doesn't make me feel the least bit better that they didn't know what they were missing, because they missed SO much. And young people today with all this great technology don't know what they're missing, either, because they never got to experience what life was like without it. You were young at a better time in musical history than I was, but we definitely both did OK. Wishing you a long and happy life ahead, my friend.

Lovely sentiments, My Friend. Thank You. Yes, we were incredibly lucky, and in London, we had so many top-class music venues that I took it for granted, stupidly. That Floyd Concert was also notable as they arranged a Plane to fly overhead in the indoor stadium and I still don't know how they did it. :) Naturally, there were a few misses like missing Rory Gallagher and Rod and The Faces and Golden Earring (when we turned up on the wrong night thanks to me !) but overall we also missed any Wars at home after World War 1 and 2 and there was a Community in those days. I often got help from complete strangers. Good Luck :)

important suggestion: you 2 need headphones, over the ear, range 5hz to 30,000hz... the difference is huge. you will listen sounds you never heard before. Also, Staci is adorable :) A person reacting to this song, and listening to it for the first time, suggested he might skip the intro... he got massacre on the comments :) lol was very funny The intro is everything.

You guys are great! Phil is one of the best of British! 🇬🇧❤️ This performance gets me hot under the collar every time I watch it! The way the drum set comes up out of the floor is cool! Ps.... Phil s son is following in his dad’s footsteps. Phil is in a bit of a poor condition to play these days.
