My husband just starting delivering for them. I'm grateful the 3rd party he drives for has unmarked vans with cameras on all sides. We also got life 360 so I can keep track of him throughout the day. Likewise he can see where I am at any point as well.

My question is why no one else helped take this guy down? The male Amazon worker is due loads of respect when everyone else was too scared of their own sorry a$$es to get out of their car help. Times have changed big time and now we are too chicken to turn the predators into prey.

I’m an Amazon driver but I deliver way in a rural part of Ga so my only issue is loose dogs. Did you see the Amazon guy that shot the dude that was trying to Rob him a couple weeks ago? Btw.. we don’t carry a lot of expensive items in those vans. It’s manly bs. House stuff. Rugs, tissue, patio umbrella. Things like that. If that want some valuables then they might want to try FedEx or UPS because we deliver small packages.

We had a post man get shot and killed while on duty. A pizza delivery man, same. Another delivery driver was car jacked. But, ya know, Milwaukee.

I did the Amazon Flex thing for a short while and this is exactly why I quit. Women need to think very carefully about whether this type of work is appropriate for them (and, if they do, they absolutely must take the keys when exiting the vehicle). I'm in a smaller city with a lot of rural delivery areas and for me it was the loonies out in the sticks and the giant farm dogs running amok. It's really dangerous work no matter where you are.

My niece and her husband were delivery drivers in Port charlotte FL. The most they ever delt with is dogs lol but i always feared what happen here could have happened to them . I cant believe a a guy with his record can get out on such a low bond . That's another thing wrong with out country . I hope Amazon doesn't reprimand the drivers for fighting back.

Plenty of other people around the scene too. Too bad no one else jumped in to help. I live in Queens, and the crime in NYC is so bad. We have the worst mayor since I moved here in 1985. I've literally heard stories of people defending themselves against criminals, and they end up getting in trouble for defending themselves, or even getting sued by the criminal if they get hurt. It's sad that the porch pirates and people like this guy probably end up selling the stuff on Amazon or eBay; and "news" like this "inspires" crooks; "yeah, let's take the whole truck; great idea".

Sorry for the long story; Amazon drivers work for 3rd party subcontractors. Amazon wont do anything! What's disgusting is that the guy got out on a $7500 bond, with his record! My son worked for Amazon as a driver for a few years in and around West Palm Beach. The first company he worked for at about 6 months in, he had a route in WPB in a not so desirable neighborhood, one his dad lived in about 15 yrs ago, so he gets along fine with the boys in the hood. This particular day as with many, the company had him drive a white unmarked van, because some of their vans were in the shop. These vans also aren't equipped with cameras, While making a delivery, he heard several gun shots, sounded like a few streets over. Got back in his van to continue on, came out of that street to turn to go on the next street and he was surrounded by cops, guns drawn. He had to get out of the van, hands up, laid on the ground, he and the van were searched. Luckily they saw that he was clearly an Amazon driver. You only get 2 minutes per stop and the office can see your location from the multiple phones that you have to carry. They let him get up and call his boss after a while to let him know why the delay. No one else in that company wanted to work that neighborhood, that's why he kept getting assigned to it. Apparently they aren't supposed to be assigned to the same route daily. By the end of the week that company was no longer delivering to that neighborhood. I doubt any company would deliver their either. That neighborhood had the most complaints' about missing packages in all of PBC. I would bet that 1/2 of the complaints were due to porch pirates, and the other half were lying so they could keep and either get a new or a refund. Now, everyone has to pick their stuff up at a locker. BTW, one 2 min stop could be a house in a rural area or an apt complex, on 3 or 4 floors with 10 different apts and someone always had 5 or 6 40 pk cases or water, but when you stop the truck, all should be delivered within that 2 minutes no matter how many times you have to run up and down stairs, and no he never complained. And, yes, you're supposed to get out and lock your door. That's one with Amazon, they have no responsibility to their workers, because unless you work in the warehouse, you don't work for Amazon.

Actually this is rather tame for Jamaica. (The real action is in East New York, Brooklyn.) The hijacker didn't put the drivers down; dummy doesn't appear to have even been armed! WT...??? Possibly Choirboy won't make the same mistake again. Anyway, in NY self defense is a serious felony, and if at the saltmine will typically get you fired. Even more serious is interfering with a criminal perpetrating their profession. Plus AOC and crew would have a meltdown.

Jamaica Queens is a bad area. I am glad the Amazon drivers are ok. I’m not surprised at the 7500 bond. NY has bail reform. There was a man arrested in queens a few years ago for m*listing children. He was arrested and 5 hours later was released back to his home which was next to the daycare he got his victims from. Very frustrating living in NY where the criminals run the show.

As a GIG worker(I also deliver for amazon) its scary out there. Honestly, as its their van, I would have let the guy have it and not risk my life.

And the guy taking the vid is not helping. There were a lot of men around they could have been "good samaritans". It's NYC and they will release the perp on home monitor.

The woman should be charged for aiding and abetting.
