man, imagine trying to survive in an apocalypse with 1000 people who look and act just like you, and then one day a cache of drugs just landed and everybody collectively got high

Imagine the raiders seeing a cloud of smoke billowing over a hill. Naturally, they go to it, expecting to find yet another recently crash landed colony. What they had thought was the smoke of a campfire; turns out to be 1,000 clones of the same man smoking 1,000 different joints.

With the death of Guy, the guymind all collectively weep for their comrade.

Imagine that conversation Guy: "Hey Guy" Guy:"Whats up Guy?" "Did you hear, Guy Died?" "Oh no, not Guy, Guy was my friend." ...

MATH and SCIENCE cannot explain how hilariously entertaining this series was. Brief, brutal and hilarious.

Personally I would have set all the colonists to aggressive stance so the moment someone tries to get violent they get mobbed from all sides. It would be a brutal smack down. Can't believe how far you got with 1000 colonists, I though the game would have fallen over almost immediately.

So on the performance front you need to realize that with 1000 people everytime there is say a rock that needs to be moved the CPU has to think about 1000 different people and figure out who can do it best. I think that's why the stockpile was lagging things out previous episode cause it has to think about 1000 people moving every single item. If you do this again I'd use that stack XXL mod and also assign people to 1 task. So 250 cooks, 250 planters, that kind of thing. That way the CPU has to think about a lot less per task. Also in task manager right click the graph and click "Change graph to logical processors" to see things broken up a bit more logically. Side note. For your next series I want to see you make Noah's ark. AKA you HAVE to get 2 of every single vanilla animal.

I keep coming back to 5:56 even weeks after my initial viewing. 'We will reform him' has become one of those punchlines I just randomly mutter under my breath every once in a while for absolutely no reason. So good. 10/10, would recommend.

A guy running around on fire trying to find someone to kill, then getting knocked out by another murderous guy, a third one chasing a large group, that could easily beat him up, down a tunnel, while everybody is doing drugs in a big pile with some corpses around, funniest shit I have ever seen.

I’d love to see you do a perfect solo character run. What I mean by that is one character who has just no stats to start with but has the best anima Tronic limbs eyes lungs skin etc. etc. and you never take a second colonist I think it be interesting to see how high you could get his stats and his sure badassery hope you’re having a good day and being safe

As a (non-game) dev I think what really kills it is all the pathfinding. Even simple pathfinding takes a lot of resources and the game isn't optimized to do it for thousands of pawns -- which may explain why setting stockpile zones kills everything. Everyone tries to pathfind at once.

Pure wanderer playthough: not allowed to spend more than a week in the same area. I don't know if Rimworld will even let you do this but who knows.

You should definitely do a playthrough with 1 colonist named Steve Irwin. give him max animal handling, and start collecting animals, and travelling around the planet, with the end game being finding the ship and escaping the planet with all your hundreds of animals in tow.

the low fps was due to idle pawns: while idle they thrash the lookup job tick or thread. if you want consistent fps you'll need to keep everyone working. you can try hauling loop madness using zones and stockpiles or flooring 1/2 the map so they'll clean non stop (and move faster)

I love that when everyone was coming to get drunk and high, that one Guy just went to insult everyone

The 'Weapons Tab' mod, among other things, lets the pawns arm themselves automatically. You'd just have to have a few crafters churn out weapons every day, and each time one is finished one of your unarmed Guys would take it.

Hey AA, just a tip on your mention of "I wish there was a better default action-". You can indeed set colonists to fight instead of flee when faced with danger. For the sake of science, I would love to see you roll back before the meltdowns and set them this way, and watch hundreds of men gang up on the murderous ones. There is only one challenge worthy of Ambiguous Amphibian in Rimworld and that is my favorite challenge, Eat the World! Start with a small tribe of cannibals and proceed to try to eliminate every other town on the planet by eating all the inhabitants. Can you eat the world or will be eaten by it instead...

You should make a series where you have the lost tribe start but with like 50 people. That way you can actually attend to each character to a degree but you still have the offensive power and rapid wealth growth to have some really large battles.

You could try this with the "Androids" mod (not Android Tiers). Use a bunch of emotionless droids instead of humans. That way they won't break down and kill each other. Instead you have to deal with massive energy crisis that would surely send the Rimworld into the dark ages.
