To be honest, that's kind of the reason why I can't get into Rimworld... I want to like it, but there's just so much going on. I like fairly deep and complex games but in Rimworld everything just feels too random and not well put together, it's hard for me to get immersed in it because of this. I'm probably not articulating it right but eh.

My thought is that it's similar to a fisherman eating fish: he probably doesn't care that the fish dies, but he probably won't like wearing a shirt that had dried fish guts and blood all over it. Similarly, cannibals and psychopaths don't care that the guy died, but they do care about the filth and being dirty. On the other hand, colonists with bloodlust love blood and gore, so they don't care.

When there is a transport pod crash, you should rescue, carry the pawn to base and then stirp and finish off the person so you can save alot of labour from hauling

A tip for the sea ice start: put a sleeping spot outside the hut and "rescue" crashed people then they will be carried to your hut with clothing intact and you can strip them close to the hut for less hauling. Also i do love the philosophical rambling :D This series got me playing a rimworld game myself.

@Vaughn Imperial i would say no hunting at all; only a vegetarian diet (milk and eggs are fine). i also think social drugs are reasonable. nothing malevolent about a little bit of beer or smokeleaf. a couple other (obvious) rules: 5. no organ harvesting 6. selling people into slavery is forbidden. maybe buying slaves as well? idk

@@KaiserBlaze Use the synthmeat mod and grow it alongside your veggies. No hunting required at all. Having had a colony of pacifistic hippies growing synthmeat, rice, smokeleaf, and anesthetic plants to refill my sleepy-juice turrets was interesting. I could definitely see why the same raiders kept coming back to visit over and over again. Sadly that colony met its end when an infestation spawned and well, you know the drill.

You can hover over a target to see what a colonist's hit % is. 100% accuracy on the revolver basically means it shoots straight, distance and shooting skill and the characteristics of the target will still affect the hit chance. Anyway, great video as always!

I've played this kind of scenario a few times and recommend building a nutrient paste dispenser asap: The paste debuff is more than compensated by the cannibalism buff, the meat is used far more efficiently so won't run out, and food poisoning at the wrong time could end your colony.

Useful tip: if you make the ceiling hole 3 tiles or less your items won't degrade from being outdoors. The hole need only be over the colonist if I remember correctly.

The 100% hit chance for the masterwork revolver is technically right. When you hover over an enemy while orange is selected, you can see the hit chance, various factors affect the hit chance like weather, target size, the shooter's skill, cover, and weapon hit chance, which is 100% for you

Don't forget you can just store steel outside since it doesn't have a durability bar to both save room in your storage and make your room prettier, and you can install a vent to cool down your pantry and keep meals from rotting. The vent is an issue for security however you can just build a wall around the opening of the vent (with no roof) if need be.

The video's are always too short but very very soothing. Even when there's bloodshed. A tip for dealing with injured meals-to-be: if you make a medical sleeping spot (or prisoners spot) in your base, you can carry them there with everything they wear and own. Once home, strip them. This will save you a lot of hauling time.

It might be worth considering patching all of your meals to be up when you can. Animals, raiders, etc. Given the significant drop in tend quality on a self tend, a bad infection could end your run. That and maybe knocking 3 roof tiles off of your stockpile room to keep it at freezing. I’m really enjoying the series so far!
