The American marten apex predator of the forest canopy, fulfilling a critical role like no other predator. Martens have evolved to thrive in some of the world's harshest environments, demanding a large hunting territory of up to ten miles just to survive.

This project was funded in part by a grant from Lush Cosmetics North America
Lush Cosmetics: Charity Pot
In 2007, Lush Cosmetics created their Charity Pot Body Lotion to make a difference in the world and support those working on the frontlines for human rights, animal protection and environmental justice. The idea was simple; with every pot sold, 100 percent of the price is donated to grassroots organizations. Since its launch, Lush customers have bought over 3.5 million Charity Pots, raising an incredible $50 million for 1,850 projects in North America and another 950 around the world.

I ran into one while hiking, it was curious and got within arms length, sat there for a bit and then wondered off.

What do the carnivoran families Ictonychidae (Zorillas, Muishund, Shulang, Huro, Grisons, Wolverine, Tayra, Martens, and Fisher) and Eupleridae (Malagasy Carnivorans) have in common and which one of these families would win in a fight?

The subfamily Ictonychinae doesn't include the Pine Marten, and doesn't seem to have much in common with it. The family Eupleridae seems quite unique. Source: Wikipedia "List of Mustelids" (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mustelids).

Actually, the subfamilies Ictonychinae (Zorillas, Muishund, Shulang, Huro, and Grisons) and Guloninae (Wolverine, Tayra, Martens, and Fisher) are most closely related to each other and have more in common than we think, because of this, these subfamilies are more appropriately relocated to their own family, which is the family Ictonychidae, collectively known as ictonychids, these are also another unique family of carnivorans, much like malagasy carnivorans (family Eupleridae), the smallest living ictonychid is the Muishund (Poecilogale Albinucha) and the largest living ictonychid is the Wolverine (Gulo Gulo), ictonychids (both ictonychines and gulonines) are successful predators, with the huro, grisons, and gulonines (wolverine, tayra, martens, and fisher) being the most able to tackle larger prey.

References, please. That is, the name, author, etc. of a standard scientific publication that contains the information that you're presenting here. For example, I referred to the Wikipedia page "List of Mustelids" (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mustelids) for the information that I'm presenting here. Not exactly a scientific publication, but the best information I've found on the topic. I'm interested in learning more; as long as I know that the information is correct, complete, and generally accepted by scientific experts in the field.
