RED-BLUE light - here in Poland we have it simple: BLUE-only signal is for all Police/Emergency/Fire/Military (single) vehicles, and BLUE-RED lights are for vehicles in column/convoy (for the first and last vehicle) - to inform other drivers that there are more cars coming - so in fact all specialized cars have both BLUE-BLUE and RED-BLUE lights installed and used depending on the situation

The firefighting special you're interested in is a Tatra Triton made in cooperation with Excalibur Army. It's a civilian version of the military special designed for interventions in extreme conditions and dangerous environments. It is armoured and airtight. And the colour combination of the lights blue - red has only been used in the Czech Republic since 2018. Until then, they were only blue. The sound of the sirens is not always the same, but can be varied while driving.

That armored truck at 2:08 (and its bigger cousin, 8x8 monster with 12 tons of water on board) was built for scenarios like ammo dump fire, industrial accident or massive forest fire. They used to have a tank for that (army surplus T-55 with huge water tank instead of turret and 2 remotely controlled nozzles), this should have similar performance but it's a lot easier on logistics.

You can often see a Volskwagen crafter or Mercedes sprinter, also we use other VWs models like transporter...these are all vans. We also have normal cars. Mostly Škoda car's...models like Kodiaq, octavia or yeti. In Prague we also have an emergency truck, his call sign is ,,Golem" (I think, this one is a Mercedes as well). Every ground vehicle is colored by this reflective yellow color with same looking livery, and emergency cars uses red and blue lights. We also have some helicopters.

About that Czech Republic vs. Czechia thing. On 14 April 2016 the government agreed to make Czechia the official short name. So both terms are right. It's the same thing as Russian Federation vs. Russia. I personally think that the term Czechia kind off caught on in last 2 years. For example we use it as our name in our international hockey games which is of course always important event for us. Great vid btw, cheers from South Bohemia.

The reason some vehicles have RED-BLUE lights and some have only BLUE-BLUE is beacause there was a law that dictated the use of only blue emergency lights, but it was changed quite recently (2018 or 2019 I think). The Tatra fire truck would also be my favourite 😉 The sirens have interchangeable modes, the faster ones are probably used when more attention is needed. Also I believe that when the vehicles brake harder, it goes into a very fast annoying siren sound, probably automatically, to alert the drivers further. Another interesting thing is the rendez-vous (RV) system for ambulances - in more severe cases when an actual doctor is needed, not only the paramedics, a separate passanger vehicle is sent with a driver and the doctor. That is usually something like Škoda Octavia combi, Yeti (seen here), Kodiaq, or even the electric VW ID.4, with a lot of equipment in the trunk and on back seats. The RV meets the ambulance on the site. That vehicle can also be rerouted to more critical place if needed. On the way back, the RV can help the ambulance in serious emergency situations, by accelerating ahead, stopping traffic at an interseciton to let the ambulance drive through smoothly, then accelerate ahead it again and repeat. Really efficient.

Most of Australia's fire engines are Scanias - and Isuzu's for rural fire service. Canberra's are light green. Scania does have comprehensive headquarters here for the trucks and buses, maintenance and repairs and I think modifications. The semi high speed train that runs along the entire QLD coast, from the capital Brisbane to Cairns is a SAAB - Scania ( SAAB do make aircraft - used extensively in Australia - REX airlines.) The train is a tilt train, so it tilts into corners to remain stable, when the tracks cannot support very fast trains.

In the Czech Republic, we also have fairly well-managed access to weapons, and obtaining a firearms license is well managed. I don't have a gun and I don't feel threatened when I walk down the street at night.

Germany and Austria have blue lights because it gets diffused the best at longer distances. It was adopted in 1933 for the police and fire service (which was part of the police back then) so the bombers in WWII wouldn't be able to spot it well.

We had only blue too in the past, but they changed it few years ago, I think new lights were from american company back in the day because it won some competition for new lights or something, so they decided to change a law and allowed blu-red combination, also, they say it has better visibility and they like this change, so all new cars will have blue-red lights in the future, if they don't change it again, but I think it looks cool, our cars now look more unique in Europe, especially those with installed extra ramming bumbers.

it reminds me some game with firefighters I played in like 2004, it was very cool game, I think it was called literally Fire Department, but I am not sure, name was translated to Czech, you had to move with those cars to put them more close to your foot firefighters to make water refilling faster and when fire was blocking your way, you ran out of water fast, it was a cool game

5:26 So these are what is called a "rendezvous" system. It's basically that you have seperate vehicles for the EMS specialists (the middle one) and for the doctors (with M.D degree; the small one). The way it works is, there are situations where only the ambulance is needed, like a broken leg and situations where you need a doctor, like mass traffic accidets. This way you can either dispatch only an ambulance or both of them (sometimes it can happen, that the M.D. can be dispatched from a different hospital - according to who and where is available atm.). Also, they are independent, so the specialists can get there and provide basic aid and when the doctor arrives, they then provide more sophisticated help/expertise. The biggest one is I believe for massive accidents, because it carries a lot of equipment, but no stretcher (while the middle one can carry a stretcher)

Here's an interesting fact for you, a long time ago Australia used blue only for police, red only for ambulance and blue and red for fire. You could tell what they were from a distance just on the lights, now we use red and blue for all.

After pressing a button, a secret railway wheels will show up, and you can drive this car also on railway. Give attention to big letter "Ž", that means "správa železnic (pokud se nepletu)" > "railway administration"

As of today, the Fire Rescue Department has two new special vehicles. In Hlucín, firefighters have taken over the largest tanker in the Czech Republic with a volume of 21,000 liters and also a durable syringe labeled CZS 15. The firefighters call it Triton and will use it during attacks in extreme conditions. The car is equipped to handle fires in forests or factories where explosions are at risk. Rescue unit began to seek it, among other things, after its experience

Hi from Czech Republic :) The lights used to be blue-blue, but after 2018 it is possible to use blue-red. Each color has its advantages and disadvantages. But the combination of red and blue covers a much wider light spectrum and is more practical. Red color is more visible in fog, snow, heavy rain, etc...

Thanks for a vid, this is actually from my nearest town(Kolín - central Bohemia region) ..this event is traditionaly held every year at spring for yeears( 15 years+ for sure) - it is called "A day of the emergency rescuers" and they bring all those vehicles on the town square so people and especially children can look inside them and see how they work.. there is usually police, firefighters and ambulance and the military actually participate too but they got their own space outside of the town.

Hello! Thank you for the wonderful video and I'm delighted to see you like our emergency response vehicles! To explain a few things you were confused about... The liveries on our Police cars used to be White with a Green Stripe since as far as I can recall, actually. I believe since the separation of Czechoslovakia in 1993. During the start of the 21st century, we have transitioned from those white and green, into the liveries you see here, silver with blue and neon yellow! With that, we used to use all-blue Emergency Lights, for all three of the emergency responses. However, with modernization, we have moved on to use red-blue lights for the Police, and the blues are slowly being phased out in favor of the red-blues. This happened during the latter half of the 2010's, if I recall correctly. Another thing is about the medical liveries. Czech Republic is separated into 14 parts called "kraje". Sort of "Counties" if you will. And in every single county, the insignia of the local branch of the Police Department, the insignia of the local branch of Fire Department, and the livery of the local Emergency Medical Service, all change depending with the coat of arms and flag of the "County", for example, from the texts on the EMS vehicles, you can see that this is the Central Bohemian kraj, and with the last vehicle, you can see "Kolín" which is the name of the city they're having the parade in. Liveries and insignia in Prague, or other kraje, Moravian, Silesian, Southern Bohemian, etc. will be different, and easily, you can distinguish them! For example, Prague heavily centers around Red and Yellow, as those are the colors on the flag of the city of Prague. :) Finally, the last vehicle, full white with livery, that is not the Czech Police as a whole, like the State Police, but only the localized, Obecní Policie Kolín, Municipal or Metropolitan Police, basically. A lot of cities and towns have "Městská Policie" or "Obecní Policie", which unlike the Czech Police, is not under the Ministry of Interior, but under the local city magistrate or town hall. They do not have the same rights and privileges as the State police do, and their jurisdiction covers only the limits of their city or town. Hope I was able to expand your horizons on what all of the liveries, Police forces, and emergency lights mean! And don't be afraid to contact me for further information or even possibly, if you'd be so inclined, collaboration in your videos, where I can explain the things you see live, if you're ever inclined to react to Czech emergency response again! :)¨ Have a swell day, and if you read this far down, you're a star.

I remember that when I was little I went to a fire station with my class, because our class teacher knew one of the firemen. I remember trying on the fireman clothes, riding in the firetruck etc. but the most interesting thing there was a tank painted red, we were then shown a presentation of it's uses, and it is used for derailed trains and other heavy objects. I still have the footage from about 5-7 years ago.
