When German police want to stop anyone, they overtake them and then activate a text display in their rear window that tells the suspect to "Please follow" / "Please Stop".

They don't have to overtake. They just start their blue alarm lights and indicate on the display that you should follow their instructions. Only if you obviously ignore them they'll escalate their response.

Yes but not always, i got stopped once and the Police was behind me, the flasht once with the blue light and then had "police please stop" or something like this in their display above. On the Autobahn they often pull in front of you but in citys or on country road they stay behind you, except you don't stop and drove further even if there where places where you could've safely pulled out.

This is a ProVida car. Those are undercover police cars equipped with cameras certified for exact speed measurement (the offender can be issued a ticked based on the video evidence). The cars are usually something like a BMW 535 or Mercedes Benz E class 350. They can go up to 250 km/h, so they have absolutely no problem to keep up at this speed. These cars look almost like normal civilian cars from the outside, so the offender probably doesn't know that he is being followed by the police. BTW, ProVida is the only system in Germany certified for speed measurement from a moving vehicle.

the police is undercover and follows him via camera and speedmeter to collect evidence of him breaking the law before they unveal themselves. Once they have what they need, they put on the signal and stop him for the ticket and his ID, maybe even arrest him if needed. on german streets mainly the autobahn the undercover police makes it possible to catch people who would drive normal if any police car is around but drive however they want if noone is looking for them. So you can't be 100% certain that no police is around when you go against the rules, they might catch you sooner then you would like.

@@oldrusty20 oh. I think those speedometers are acurate. But most people don't know that on a Bundesstraße you have a speedlimit of 100 km/h! Because sometimes, if the Bundesstraße has physical lane deviders and two lanes for each side of the traffic (so four lanes in total) devided by metal railing (2/2 lanes) and a sign that lifts the 100 km/h you are allowed to drive as fast as on the Autobahn. And some people think, as soon as they See the blue sign with the white car in it, they are allowed to drive faster than 100. So I think all those cars driving 150 didn't know or simply didn't care that they where to fast.

FYI the posts (Leitpfosten) are typically around 50m apart (on straight sections). So just from looking I'd assume a speed of around 60m/s, which is 216 km/h. One reason why people hate on the video is that the especially the Bavarian Police is known to tailgate behind fast cars for a while in an undercover car equipped with a camera, recording all infractions for 20 min or so, instead of stopping the car after the first big one. That way they can fine the driver way more. Feels petty and unsafe. Most people don't like it, especially those who hate speeding drivers, as it delays stopping the speeder.

It's a federal road (Bundesstrasse), so maximum speed is usually 100 km/h. Nearly 200 km/h on such roads in bright daylight in front of a police car (unless it's an incognito patrol car) is possibly a bit too daring (will be seriously expensive; however in Switzerland your car would be confiscated and it would be even more expensive).

The video perspective is that of the police car in pursuit of the Porsche. The driver is commenting the recording with a heavy Franconian accent. The video was apparently published by the driver of the Porsche who lost his driving license at this opportunity. 3:10 the road markings mean it is allowed to overtake from our side of the road, but not for traffic coming the other way. The bend is very wide and goes to the left, so you should be able to see upcoming traffic, at least if driving at allowed speeds. 3:35 The cop announced the license number of the car he is in pursuit of. 7:00 The police car has finally passed the delinquent and slowly guiding him to place where they can stop without impeding other traffic.

@j.d.l._666
@j.d.l._666 Ай бұрын
I think this should be true in Germany too. Driving more than double the allowed speed should be really really expensive like in the upper thousands in fines and definetly a live long driving ban! Driving more than 50 km/h faster than allowed is certainly no accident and this Porsche dude drive more than double the allowed speed! I think German laws about speedsters are too lax! But hey. I'm also a friend of "income appropriate fines" like, thst the fine is a specific percentage of your monthly income! Because we all know that 500€ hurts someone hard if this person earns only 900 per month. But if you can afford a Porsche and you get a 500 € speeding fine you just shrug your shoulders and laugh about it with your friends because it's peanuts to you! So I think it should be like if you are 10 km/h to fast it costs you 0,5 your income, if you are 30 km/h to fast 20% and etc. Plus points in Flensburg and loosing your license of course.

the road markings in this case means that there is a double line which means no passing, but on the left there is another road, so you can pass the double line to turn into that road, that's why it's striped in the area near the other road. and police in that case was in an unmarked car, they followed the Porsche for a while to collect evidence and when they had it they turned on the lights/siren and pulled him over.
@wolf310ii
@wolf310ii Ай бұрын
No, its not a double line and there is no other road. Its exactly how Ryan said, the side with the interupted line is allowed to overtake, the side with the solid line is not. The "other road" is the off ramp, for the opposite traffic, and being a "Kraftfahrstrasse" you are not allowed to turn around to take the opposite off ramp, just because you missed your own just a few meters ago.

1:24 The reflector posts typically have a distance of 50m to each other. 210km/ is about 58.3m/s which means you should see one passing like every second or slightly less than a second. Or almost 6 of them in 5 seconds. And it actually is about that, so yes, they're actually going that fast and the sense of speed isn't that fast because of the narrow FOV of the camera footage. 2:16 Right, it's "just" a Bundesstraße which you can tell by the yellow signs (Autobahn signs are blue). 2:44 That (> | ⠀|:⠀ |

this is not a common policecar, it´s like what you call sleepers (unsuspective car with high performance engines). Povida is a certified videosystem, which measures the speed, so they have to follow the suspect for a while to prove the speeding without a doubt. so they don´t follow drivers which are just speeding by a couple of mph, they just follow if you are speeding like 15-20 mph+. so in fact it´s not a polic echase where the suspect tries to flee, it´s a speeding control.

You *have* to watch "Feuer und Flamme" (=Fire and Flame) it's a series about fire fighters and rescue workers. They just got a action cam strapped on and a TV team followed them. It's 100% authentic, compared to so many bs shows I've seen. And then they cut from time to time to an interview with the individual rescue workers who talk about the incident and basically narrate it themselves. Otherwise no narration. It's by far the best show on that topic. You can find it here on KZfaq for free published by the TV Sender itself :)

They followed him for so long because, as you can see from on the HUD in the recording, the camera installed is linked with a calibrated recording system used to function as legal evidence before court / in the legal system. Sometimes they have to wait for a good footage where they can properly (other cars might interfere with the speed determination system) record a usable footage free of doubts or where the suspect can be indubitably depicted of commiting a felony/crime. It's 100% for legal reasons

The line you mentioned means the same in Germany. Being at a bend makes totally sense, because the drivers on the outer lane can see further forward as the drivers on the inner lane, because there are bushes and stuff, and there's also an exit. So depending on what you can see from different directions, passing can be easy from one, but dangerous from the other one. Who uploaded this? Since the new data security law the driver could sue the cop for showing his number plate xD And up to today he may have back his license and can use his car with the plate again xDDD

What makes the "chase" appear so slow is the missing dramatic music, the fast cuts and the helicopter with the journalist that is not commenting on the scene. 😂 Bundesstraßen are major roads tjat are usually quite smooth to drive. Many Bundesstraßen have two lanes and than virtually have Autobahn status. The Porsche was going way to fast. And the reason for the long chase was that the police needs a sequence on tape, where the Porsche is speeding for a while. The speed is determined using distance-time measurement.

A smaller field of view assures, that the light that enters is pretty much from head-on, in turn loosing a lot of perspective (or rather depth perception), and making the video look way more orthographic. And because the way we perceive speed in a video is through to perspective, that makes it look slow, when it actually isn't. Or at least that's my guess to what's going on, idk if it's true EDIT: I did a stupid and posted a comment before the video was over

Because the owner of the car is liable no matter who drove the car (with some exceptions), it's really rare that there are high speed car chases like in the US. The only circumstance it would make sense for a driver to try an get away is if they are sitting in a stolen car, but I don't think someone driving around in a stolen car would be speeding. I also think the Police in Germany aborts high speed chases much sooner to prevent endangering other traffic participants.

The camera used seems to have a very long focal length (very "zoomed in"), which makes the speed appear considerably lower. Same happens in driving sims due to limited screen size.

Looking at the signs and trees they did not drive 200 km/h. Never. Everyone who drove 200 knows that this was not 200.

The displayed speed is total crap. It shows at least double the actual speed in some parts. Even if the Porsche is speeding like crazy, most of the other drivers would respect the common limit of 100 on rural streets.

"The displayed speed is total crap." It's not, people verified it. It looks much slower because of the Zoom of the video. "most of the other drivers would respect the common limit of 100 on rural streets." as they actually do. When the Porsche is stuck in traffic he slows down to a little above 100 kmh.

That‘s what I thought too, but then I watched it again and he only speeds up when no one is in front of him.
