I just bought this item and it installed fine however you have to hold the flush lever down for 3 seconds or the tank won't empty completely. The flapper drops too fast. How to fix?

Ah...there are two models, #5 and #4...better make sure you get the right one or your toilet won't flush properly. One is high flush/tank and one is low...the #4 is low and both sides of the bucket/barrel/float is sealed where as the #5 is the high flush/tank and only one side of the barrel is sealed.

Our home was built in the 1950s and the one piece AS toilets MAY have been installed later.......how do I know which version of the flush valve is in the toilet? I haven't tried to pull the rubber flapper disc off the actuator yet. I understand that it could be either a pull off or spin off style. Can I get the flapper as an individual part first, moving on to replace the rest of the parts as needed? I hate to start with the complete assembly if that rubber is the only part I really need...........love to see a video showing you disassemble/reassemble the flush valve components....

yes the disc is available by itself. And yes they make snap on and screw on. The snap on fits an ALL plastic actuator where the screw on has a brass screw at the bottom. if your unsure email me a picture.

I have this style and most plumbers seems to not know what to do to replace these parts. Many have told me to buy a new toilet but it matches my tub and sink. The tiny screw rusted and broke off in on one side of the flipper so how do I get it out? I need to purchase this kit for two toilets.

The brass screw on adapter does not fit my flapper for an American Standard #4. It is too small. what can I do?

If the toilet flush valve on my American Standard toilet resembles this one (two tubes at 90 degrees to each other), is this definitely the right part for it? Or are there a number of variations and I have to figure out the right one? Alternate question: can this valve be replaced by a modern one with a different design? The chain keeps falling into the tube and replacing the valve won't fix that design flaw, I think. My toilet tank and bowl are a single piece, if that makes a difference. Thanks!

I dont think I do, I didnt have a sample toilet in the warehouse to show this however I may be able to gp into more depth. I will make another video soon to show the assembly of the tower and parts etc....

This does not work on the 2034.014 one piece American Standard with Champion 4 Flush valve

That's correct. This is the 1960's & 70's era #4 flush valve. We have a different video that covers the newer version
