In Odisha we have gupchup with stuffing of massed potato, bolied yellow peas or mutter, chat masala, salt, red chili powder, cut raw onion, sew bhaji, papad with tamarind water added mint leaves, chat masala, salt. Some also use lemon instead of tamarind for gupchup water. In villege they r very cheap at 10 rupees 10 gupchup. Now varieties are available like dahi gupchup, chatnry gupchup, gupchup with out adding water simply platting like Sev puri with sauce instead of tamarind water. Each plate 20 rupees. Little more than Pani gupchup. My all time favourite. We also made it in home. Mouth watering .

the water, has many variants.. the one you are having is mint based and is green, sometimes there is a tamarind only variant and it looks brown. The fillings also include boiled mashed potatoes,chopped onions and other spices. there are many variants. Enjoy!!))

Okay. Applause to you two for trying but I have a few suggestions as an Indian who absolutely loves pani puri. First of all, it pronounced paa-nee poo-ree, the small balls are called boondi and the other liquid is called chutney. Secondly usually at least what I put in my pani puri is like coarsely mashed potatoes and black chickpeas and sprouted moong beans. Also you put the hole in the wide part of the puri. And even though it can get messy, you actually submerge the whole entire puri into the bowl of pani and put the whole thing in your mouth. These are just some friendly suggestions and I love you guys.

U have to make a bigger hole and the quantity to be filled in the puri May vary... secondly it's "chutney" and "boondi"..the dish is called Pani Puri or Gol(meaning circle) Gappa...and this street food is always loved by Indians and the water is always green..So, maybe u could have it as ur dinner...And this dish is my favourite...and the process of filling the Puri is not fixed..like u can put anything first provided you fill the Puri with everything...Hope u may have Gol Gappa again!

Pani puri is the best junk snacks in India

its also called {gol gappa}👌

The puris are made of a dough that is made using a little wheat flour and for the most part semolina (semolina makes them crispy). The dough is rolled into circles of the diameter of small raviolis and deep fried. Moving on to the eating part: Hold the puri like a saucer would sit on your palm. Tap the top with the thumb of the same hand - if the hole gets created easily, you have the right side up! The bottom side is very slightly thicker, and so your thumb doesn't poke a hole in it as easily as on the other side. This is how the vendor pokes a hole in them - the traditional way! Try it, it's fun! Next, fill half of the puri with boondi (some people prefer other fillings instead of boondi - sprouts and mashed potato, or boiled chickpeas, etc.). The tamarind chutney has jaggery and tamarind pulp in it, and hence is sweet and tangy. The pani is has water (obviously), mint and ginger and sea salt / rock salt and chillies and mango powder in it. If you want your pani puri spicy, add more pani and less chutney. If you want it less spicy, reverse the proportions of the pani and the chutney. Once filled, hold the filled puri between your fingers and then put the entire thing in your mouth at one go. Then chew with your mouth closed - and enjoy the explosion of flavours!

Actually it's not way of eating the Pani Puri. You need to work on it if you really want to enjoy it.and Pani Puri is also consumed with various flavoured water I,e. Hing water,kewada water,pudina water and many more.it also consumed with dhai and chutney on which mouth watering massala is sprinkled and it really awesome.

U are not eating eat in a proper way..you can't get the taste ..you have to fill the puri with pani near to overflow and then eat it at one go..whole thing and you will get a burst of flavours in your mouth when the puri explodes in your mouth..
