Tom, that is a STUNNING job! Isn’t Bob the sweetest guy? He and his wonderful wife Cathy hosted me and the late Richard Valley of Scarlet Street magazine one wonderful night in October of 2000, and I was able to say hello to the werewolf (well, his front half). That was during an unbelievable 9 days and nights that I was Forry Ackerman’s houseguest, and he arranged the visit with Bob and Cathy for me... a Monster Kid’s dream!

TomSpinaDesigns Thanks, Tom... amazing, indeed! I slept in the Lon Chaney room with his beaver hat and fangs from London After Midnight displayed at the foot of my couch, and a large (I think plastic) “blob” monster from an Outer Limits episode on the floor over to my left. In other words, among old friends, as I know you know you would be!

I would very much like a few tips on this. Right now, I'm fixing a 16' tall animatronic dragon - the armature popped out of the sides and the foam is all cracked to crap. Best I can think of for now is painting with liquid latex, poking holes through the foam skin and basically riveting the seams with latex and cheese cloth then painting over that. We'd use silicon, but are afraid it will rip even more. Also, some of the horns were broken so I'm using high density foam rather than casting new ones. The monster has to be up and running by mid August, so there's still time to do a little more research, although I will be padding the armature and making horns today. (so much work for things that are seen for a mere minute or two - totally worth it ha ha)

Hi Troy, sounds like you've got some pretty good ideas. It's tough to advise without seeing a piece in person, and well, most of our work is on pieces that are too fragile to ever move/flex again, so a lot of our techniques are geared with that in mind. You can always try the effects lab forum (google should turn up a link) for more advice. Of course Bob said we use witchcraft and voodoo so you can always try that! ;) Best of luck with the repairs!

I had a couple of "projects " done by Tom and his team and I can honestly say that this man and his team is devoted to ANY project no matter how big or small. Tom comes thru every time and delivers beyond expectations ! I highly recommend TSD .... Search the rest, come back to the best ! just saying ... :-)
