Despite being a foul-mouthed and fouler-tempered psychopath, even Jack has a sad side. Stranded on that feckin' island and seeking escape through DRINK! What he said was "GOBSHITE!" - that's a popular insult in Ireland. Also, he clearly had Sister Assumpta figured out from the start. No wonder he leapt through the window and ran for his life!! 😂😂😂 Next time on _Father Ted:_ The devil you know vs. the devil you don't...and a daring rescue mission!

Pauline McLynn (Mrs Doyle) is a super actress, who sadly didn't seem to get much work after this for whatever reason. She was (and is at ~60yrs old now!) actually very pretty, or even quite striking. It's loads of makeup that makes Mrs Doyle''s dowdy appearance, and great comic acting that makes Mrs Doyle's persona!

One great Father Ted show bit that I think you haven't caught on is the Father Larry Duff phone calls. Throughout every series and in every other episode Father Ted calls Larry for advice but every time he catches Larry at a bad moment and something terrible but humorous happens, like the time when Larry try's to answer the call and drives off a cliff, or the call causes an avalanche, the episode where the British army shoots Larry's Priest friend who's smuggling guns, the knife throwing show or in this case he's about to win a game show and Ted causes him to lose by calling and the punchline is Ted always says something like "oh that's right he's busy doing (fill in the blanks) so he must be busy" just thought I should let you know so you the next time you'll understand and will appreciate the joke a bit more. Much love a respect King & Queen ❤️👍

I'm 45 now and have run the London marathon twice, the Great North Run thrice, and have cycled from Land's End to John O'Groats, and always in highly competitive times. I can do the army mile run time too. I've also drank enough alcohol through my years that would put an Armada of pirates to shame. When Father Jack called Father Ted a "Gobshite" it's a common insult we use in the UK & Ireland meaning someone who talks sh*t. You should definitely add it to you list of British insults King Boomer 👍 Also the British came up with the term 'fags' for cigarettes but it's now somewhat taboo as the Americans (no disrespect I love Americans) turned it into a very derogatory word. We have a meal in 'Fish & Chip' shops called 'faggots' you can also buy them as frozen meals in supermarkets but again our American cousins have made that word into something very offensive. Just know we came up with those words first and they have no negative connections what so ever this side of The Pond. They are cigarettes & food. Also you mentioned watching 'Trainspotting' and the withdrawal scene. What was depicted in that movie as good as the movie is is nothing like full on Heroin withdrawals. Imagine constantly going to the toilet with diarrhoea and vomiting every 15 minutes, your skin crawling, unable to sit down, lay down, or stand up because your body is so uncomfortable and you basically awake & in Hell for 3-4 days. The best depiction of Heroin withdrawals on screen is the masterpiece of a movie based on a true story called 'The Basketball Diaries' staring a young Leonardo DiCaprio. Highly recommend movie. Even that withdrawal scene isn't as bad in real life

As a man who has tried both, if i out the alarm on the other side of the room I will get up and turn it off, the problem is that ill go straight back to bed... I have to set multiple alarms, sometimes I'll resort to putting the phone in a drawer if I'm having a really hard time achieving consciousness that week... I only usually do 8 alarms though to be fair, that's usually enough to stop me getting back to sleep, and the last one is set half an hour after the others to allow myself to have a little lay in. I will not get out of bed, or I will go back to bed if I haven't woken up at least a couple of times already, it's like an unbreakable habit!

Na na na na na na na, Na na na na na na Dick Burn! (The New Adventures Of Dick Burn & Bobbin'!) Try to sleep for as long as it takes you to fully sleep and rest (8-9h) and go to bed at the exact same time every night. You will wake up within 5 minutes of a regular time without any alarm clock, the body gets good at stuff like that after practice, sleep cycles mean snoose button makes you feel even more sleepy. I used to have a 3-cd hifi decades back and set it to Track 1 of Hybrid - Wider Angle CD1. Also set to slowly increase volume. Beautiful violins and so peaceful a way to wake up, and if I didn't get up to turn it off within a minute or so, the techno of Track 2 would begin :D Oh and this ep, the banter from you both, Brilliant. Cheers!

Ah, alarms? Never needed one personally. If I know I have to be awake at a particular time, my internal body clock makes sure I'm awake at least 15 minutes beforehand. Doesn't matter when I need to wake up, it could be different from day to day. Something in my brain just makes it happen. The idea of requiring an alarm is absolutely foreign to me.

The alarm thing, I'm with Queen Boomer lol if i set an alarm for 7:00 I'm actually getting up at 7:30 and the alarm is going off every five minutes, the snooze button is the greatest thing ever made lol Edit: never mind, I just got to where she showed what the alarm sounds like and that would play once before the phone went out the window lol

Here's something you could consider. Instead of setting half a dozen alarms or even putting the alarm clock so you have to get out of bed to turn it, there's actually a clock that rings an alarm and then runs off and hides, so you have to look for it.

I have the same iPhone alarm sound as Queen Boomer, but 90% of the time I wake up just before it, so I turn it off quickly and get up. My wife is the same as King Boomer and hates it thinking WW3 is about to start 😂😂😂
