I have a question for ya? i have a Dd redline 800 18, just had a coil stop working.. can't see anything wrong with it. anyways was thinking of getting an hdc4 redone over the dd would that be a good replacement? if not I'll see motor and buy something diff feel like dd screwed me here. also most of glue around coil and spider is cracked to all hell and sounds like shit.. never noticed till it was out of box and this is 2nd issue I've had with this woofer. last time was sent to dd and the slapped some more glue over the crack smh so needless to say I've had a bad experience with dd and they won't be getting anymore of my $. now aq/sq has always treated me well so if hdc4 will swap I'm in

chris jones if you thinking you can recone the DD to a HDC4, you can't as the coil and gap is different it won't fit.

AMICUSTOMS ok thanks for response. know where I can sell a redline 800 18 that needs a recone? one coil sounds great no burnt smell or anything and was barely on when I noticed it quiet down so idk what it could be. tried swapping wires from coils and no change so for a coil just to quit at low volume. Had woofer a bit over a year with no problems. running a aq 2200 for power. have vids of set up on here if u wanna Check anything out

AMICUSTOMS what would cause all the glue to crack around spider and cone? I played it with the coil that does work and it sounds like it's ripping it self apart.. not a blown coil rubbing it's def glue cracking. stopped playing and push/pull on cone and it's crunch sound from glue. suspension is stiff as morning pecker but glue is shit.. and it's an 8k peak sub ran on 2k with proper electrical and no clipping.. sub barely moved I don't understand it at all. 15 mo old so shafted on warranty since it's redline just don't feel I got my 819$ worth.

chris jones There is a number of things that can cause the glue joint to fail at the triple joint. One of the biggest failures is due to playing below tuning and causing the sub to over excursion. It doesn't take much power to make a sub over excursion with the incorrect freq played below port tuning ie the port is no longer controlling the sub.

Not trying to be an asshole. You aren’t putting the carbon back into the tool. When you quench the steel you are changing the crystalizing structure. I wish that’s how you could put carbon into steel.
