yes i agree, but will never understand how her mother could move to South Africa which is now such a dangerous country and one cannot even ride on the roads anymore, ok her mother ris born in South Africa ,but still not fair of her mother to do it to her, its actually very funny how she stayed a girl with no upstairs like so many other teenage singers when growing up,

The understatement of the year...telling that her audition was seen more than 20 million times. A very short scan show 37 million views on one YT virdeo and 19 million on the next. And that are only 2 copies of this ausition. There are much more with millions of views... The makers of this interview could do their homework better....just do the same as Amira and be outstanding in your work. (I know that those 20 million views were already reached in only a couple of days after the audition....and also I tried to find Amira's performances whenever possible since that audition ....and also remembering one on the street in Belgium ...also with a few million views already....search on Amira and Vincent von Hessen to find it)

Yes Amira is all grown up now! It was interesting to hear what she said about her singing and the interaction of the audiences - many similarities with Angelina Jordan - how her singing can make people cry or make them happy - how it promotes hope and love. I have so much respect for this new generation, how they can make the world a better place. Amira's playgrounds will have such a great impact on the children in the townships.

I don't get the obsession so many people have with Angelina Jordan sorry, she is an Amy Winehouse wannabe. Amira is unique as is Lucy Thomas and Jonathan Antoine, these are the greatest young singers in the world today infact their the greatest of all singers irrespective of age and are already amongst the best ever.

@@adamknight7041 Firstly, obsessions are unhealthy, cause anxiety and mental disturbances. But this kind of people you find everywhere. Secondly, all singers you mention are great singers on their own, but we shouldn´t compare or play them out against each other. Thirdly, Angelina is not a Amy wannabe, she developed her own unique style of music as you can listen in her latest work. She admires Amy, loves her music, and - as she does with other artists -, doesn´t copy directly, but honors them by integrating certain aspects of her singing style into her covers.

Yes ... even now, some years later .... she remains the precious personality, and now, with an even enhanced confidence and more mature voice -- if that's possible. She completely won my heart at nine, and the appreciation of her continues. Thank you Philip! Amira turned into a young lady now and kept her beautiful smile. I hope the Christmas concert will be made available. She has such a big heart for children in need. Happy to see her back in Holland. It was not easy for her in the time of pandemic that hit South Africa hard. I wish her all the best for the future and will continue following her music. The lst time l hersd this " little child" singing when she was 9, l was her fan!!! Although l am living in South Africa, we came from Holland by boat at 9 years. Amirah now 9 years later at 18 still, l am sure, has many fans/admirers and are blessed by that angel voice and l am so proud of her omdat ze zo openlik over haar geloof praat. Mooi zo Amirrah

Amira has amazing control, tone, range, and quality. She had all this at nine years old and nothing is forced. Her voice keeps ringing in the ears long after the song is over. I have heard some voice coaches not very accepting of her talent at this age afraid that her voice will give out early. Some other opera amateur aficionados denigrate her for not having the experience of a Callas or Sissle so they do not consider her in the same class. But I just have to say that to be able to sing arias with the best of them without effort is a great achievement. I hope she sticks with classical music and POPera, I do not want her to become the fat lady that sings at the end of an opera. The opera elite do not deserve her.

She mentions a Christmas concert towards the end of the interview, the CD of the concert is now available! and the DVD will become available from November (2023) Both can be ordered from her Gelukskinders Web shop. All profits will benefit her foundation to help the poor kids.

So many of these child or young stars have flashed across the screen and then gone, or lost and submerged in what is called "cross-over" a term invented by American TV for those, who haven't been able to attain the really top level. I am hoping, will Amira be the one who cracks through to become a real Opera Star ?
