Thanks for the video! Watching yours made me want to instal them myself instead of getting a shop to do them. Relatively simple but time consuming, a little bit of trial and error but not too bad. Love them. Thanks for the indirect encouragement!

I have the electronic steps that were factory installed. It was 1000 dollars for them. But it was already installed on the truck that I purchased. The only thing I have noticed is that sometimes the step doesn’t fold In when I shut the door.

No fender trimming? Called for in the instructions for the 2015 Silverado and Seirra.

I did not have to do any fender trimming on my pickup. Not sure if there is a slight difference in the 2014 and 2015

Hey Dustin I hope all is well. I was wondering if the Amp Research running boards have been problem-free and if you would go this route again?
@DustinT2 жыл бұрын
Yes I can honestly say I haven’t had a single problem, would buy day one for any other truck I had. And I haven’t received a penny from them to say this, they are that good!

Hey bro the connection with the purple wires with obd2 connection come with the kit??
@DustinT5 жыл бұрын
Hey man, yes this specific one does. But be sure to check when you order because they have a version that doesn’t (it’s older) that has to be hardwired into the door panel and it’s a bit of a pain. The obd2 version is much easier to install. Thanks for checking out the video!

Good video but don't look as strong as the factory step side factory has 4 mounts on each side compared to 2 mounts on each side. Would love if these came with a few more mounts to hold more Weight. Just doesn't look like they would hold a lot of weight. Wouldn't want a friend that is overweight breaking them.

The actual connection in the truck or the pig tail for the steps?
But the obdII connection in the truck is underneath the steering wheel right around your left knee

I bought this set for my brand new 2018 Ram 2500 Mega Cab and they gave me fits to install them! I followed the written instructions exactly to the letter. Got all done, was all proud. Put power to them… And the retracted up under the truck and wedged behind the pinch welds. I worked for hours putting brackets and linkages on than taking them back off numerous times, I adjusted brackets and linkages to NO avail. The boards jammed up and got stuck under the truck every time to the point where I had to remove the motors and pried them out from under my brand new truck scratching up the AMP Research running boards. Decided to call customer service. I called and spoke with Brian Weaver. I explained my situation and he seemed to know exactly what happened. Brian said “they got stuck behind the pinch weld right???” I said Yep!!! He said with a snarky little attitude “I’ll send you an email that’ll explain what to do”… So I get this email with an eight step process to remedy the problem. I followed that set of instructions to the letter again. Well step # 8 said if all else fails take a hammer and bend the pinch weld seam over to make it fit. I tried but I would have had to bend that seam over 45 degrees and I didn’t want to go that far with the sledge hammer. Long story short I had to take a 4” angle grinder, remove ¼” + off the top of the pinch weld seam to get my new $1500 AMP Research’s running boards to operate on my $70,000 brand new truck. Needless to say I was PISSED!!!! For that amount of money the AMP Research product should have fit like a glove. If you are looking to buy a set of nice power retractable running boards LOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE! Don’t spend your money here, You will be Disappointed !!!!! PS… I took the AMP Research badges off the steps so they don’t get any free advertising from me. They better run flawlessly for a long time… If they so much as hiccup I’m going to unbolt them and throw them into the dumpster……. I’ll definitely let you know…….
