No problem Paul, there are other videos out there as well like I've linked in my description. It takes some trial and error to get a hang of it but you can make some really cool designs. I am going to make a followup vid that dives into adding some shiny/coloured chrome to this livery!

Great video Kevin. Always wondered how it worked on AMS2. I’ve always done it on iRacing and ACC so it’s great to see what it’s like on AMS2.

That’s cool! First liveries I did were in AC, then rf2 as well. The process is similar in a lot of ways. One advantage of rf2 is that you can add more cars and custom drivers into the game. You are limited in ams2 to the ID’s available. Happy 2024! 🏁

Hi Kevin, not wishing to be a complete PIA but I am trying to create a J P Motorsport McLaren 750s GT3 which has a chrome finish, but it looks like chrome finish is not an option, can you let me know if that is correct Many Thanks Dave @@kevin_m

@@davebrown5539 you exported a separate light/dark fresnel dds file and chose the “Chrome” base livery? I’ll have to try myself to test. I’ll see if I have a moment today. :)

Great job, couple questions, has anyone made a custome showroom for previewing the liveries? If no I struggle to navigate inthe showroom and can't find much in the way of instructions to rotate around the car to preview logos etc. Thanks!

The showroom is as far as I know all we have to use aside from taking the car out on track and using photo mode. In showroom, try “take photo” then use the on screen instruction for moving around the car. Off hand it’s like awsd keys. I’ll edit this reply tomorrow with better instructions if you’re still stuck. Keep me posted :)

Hi! Great video, it really helped me. I have a problem with the dds files though. Whenever I save a dds texture it turns the shape I made in Photoshop into a rectangle. So it doesn't convert the texture 1 to 1. Is there a fix for this?

I “think” I know what you are referring to. If you are trying to export a spec layer dds in dxt5 OR a fresnel dxt1 and are getting “weird artifacts” or square sections, make sure you don’t have any transparent background in your dds files. Make sure to add a background to both the spec and fres dds. Let me know if that helps. 🙂

hi! i have a question... it is possible to get a skin from the game and just change the rims colors??

Only certain cars have different color rims available. I’m not sure of them all but the BMW M1 has multiple wheel colors you can apply. The default xml file for the cars will have instructions in them to apply different rims.

Hey, Kevin. Thanks for doing this video. I am having a problem. I can see the empty space on the livery section, that's good, but my livery doesn't show up in showroom. Just a white car. I am mac based (a create director) therefore the Intel texture works is not compatible. I tried saving my design in Gimp... exporting... then changing to .DDS. I wonder if that is my problem? Anybody have any ideas?

By “changing to dds” I’m not sure what you mean. I googled and see that you should be able to “export as dds” from gimp itself. Dxt1 for body and Dxt5 for spec (supports alpha). A white car or red car often means there is a path problem in the xml file. Make sure you don’t have any remaining “commenting” brackets in your new xml and that ams2 can follow the paths in the xml to see your dds files for the livery ID you are trying to override. Keep me posted. If need be I can send you a discord invite and I could take a look at your files. 🙂

Thx for the reply. I opened up Gimp and exported the file saving it to a .dds. And making it a BC1 compression (or whatever...I forgot). Now the car is black. I noticed my livery file....now in the "Timo Race Team Folder.... Looks black as well, with none of my design elements showing. I am a Creative Director by trade, and being from Indianapolis, I have done many liveries over the years.....all on Macs. This Window stuff is new to me. Thank you for your patience 😅. I am open to a discord chat. Open most evenings and all day Weds and Fridays thru Sunday

Unfortunately no. Each user has to have the livery override on their local pc in order to see it in game. iRacing has a much better system.

@@CreedM8 a car turning solid red, or white in the showroom, is 99% a problem in the xml file and the paths used to the dds files. Double check your xml and remember to restart ams2 to reload the new xml.
