It’s really interesting because stealing a massive diamond necklace and turning it into seperate pieces to sell, is literally something done by a group of thieves in the 1700s. It was a necklace gifted to Marie Antoinette by Louis XVI. It was said to be really ugly and too heavy for anyone to actually wear.
@taynev7 ай бұрын
i think you’re talking ab the affair of the diamond necklace? it was actually a necklace commissioned by King Lou XV for Madame du Barry. Lou XV died before the necklace was paid for, and the new King Lou XVI and Marie Antionette refused to buy the piece. essentially bankrupting the jewellers who spent years and a lot of money making it. then this lady jeanne de la motte and her man did some crazy heist wit some forgery & then yeah took apart the necklace and sold the gems individually. they were just stealing from the jewellers, who were trying to sell the necklace to the king, and not actually the king & queen who never paid for it lol. also there is photos of it & i think its kinda pretty!!

Cate Blanchett’s accent reminds me of the transatlantic accent favoured by Hollywood actresses during the golden age of Hollywood, and which Katherine Hepburn was famous for. I imagine that Cate probably studied the accent when she played Hepburn in The Aviator. When you mix in all the other accents and inflections she’s used in films over the years, as well as her native accent, it’s more like a trans-world accent.

This movie came out the year I moved away to Uni and met some of my dearest friends. We discovered this movie together and it became the go-to movie to put on when we were bored and wanted to get wine drunk. It's also the movie that started the domino effect of me realizing I was attracted to women. Like all it took was Sandra Bullock and Kate Blanchette being "besties👀👀👀" , Kate Blanchette in a powder blue suit, and Anne Hathaway acting like a playful evil bitch. The math was mathing and I started looking back at my life and putting the dots together. Anne Hathaway was a common theme throughout (god bless the Princess Diaries) Minus 1 point for Helena Bonham Carter's weak Irish accent tho. Like why did they make her Irish??? Why not just let her use her normal accent? It wasn't egregious or anything, it was just weak and a bit Americanized. Which just adds to my confusion of why it's there in the first place?
