Kyusu is the Japanese word for teapot but it is most often used to describe teapots that are side-handled. In this video, I'm covering some of the basic things to know about kyusu.

I have 3 Kyusu teapots and I love them all I use them for all kind of tea but mainly for sheng and shou Pu-Erh teas

Kyusu are great! I would say they're the best choice if you drink a lot of Japanese green tea.

Lol I found a kyusu in Daiso and thought it would be perfect to brew single-serving coffee in 😆 ... As a substitute for French press

I just got kyusu from a second hand store it. I would like to find more about its history. It's made of a whitish clay, glazed on the inside and looks well seasoned. The handle has a stamped cap. Any suggestions on good reference sites to check out?

Hi I was wondering how you clean your Kyusu? I have both a glazed and unglazed kyusu and wanted to know if you can use soap or not? thanks!!

I just rinse thoroughly right after I'm done drinking. For the ones with mesh screens, I'll gently use a baby toothbrush if there are any tea particles stuck in there. Soap isn't recommended because there are so many crevases where residue can hide. Unglazed kyusu will also absorb the soap.

@@teaformeplease do you have any recommendations on how to deep clean an unglazed kyusu? I feel like mine needs a clean but I wouldn't want to use soap for aforementioned reasons. do you ever clean yours with anything but a hot water rinse post use?

I'm not sure what the Japanese term would be, but if you search flat kyusu a ton should come up.

I'm sorry, I've never been to India so I'm not sure what resources there are. Vijayalakshmi Natural Farm is a tea producer in Nilgiri who might have more connections.
