My weaving journey started in Jan 2023, I bought one of those wooden frames, then I bought a toy weaving device 5 to 6 inches wide. Then I started round loom knitting, hats, slipper socks, scarfs and baby lovey blankets, In Nov 2023 I bought a rigid heddle loom, This of Feb I bought an 8 shaft table loom, my big dream was to own a floor loom, but I do not have the space for them. But I have been practicing all sorts of stuff. Last April my dad gave me my mom's old yarns which are mostly acrylic, she passed away in Sept 2022. I love that I was able to practice so much with her old yarn. But I have a goal in mind since a while now, I want to weave my own clothes, I will start with a skirt eventually, but not in acrylic, So I bought some 8/2 and 16/2 cotton, I had also bought prior to April some acrylic #5 and #6, so used some to make blankets on rigid heddle. So I am playing with colors right now, I had also bought different types of cotton like size 30 and 10. I tried different types of yarn as warps and as weft also. I think it has helped me practice and play with colors and textures, To some it may seem as if i am wasting my time doing samples, but it is actually helping me. Prior to Jan 2023 I knew nothing about yarns and knitting or weaving. I am retired now and have a lot of time on my hands, so yeah maybe it seems like I am wasting my time, but as my spouse says to them and me, if it makes me happy, then he is happy. I am care giver to his autistic adult son (who has the mind of a 5 yr old, stuck in the body of a 33 yr old man), my eternal child. So weaving makes me relaxed and enjoying my time. I used to do embroiderie and plastic canvas, painting and so on. I even learned how to use a sewing machine in Jan 2024, my spouse showed me how to make bibbins and sew straight lines, as I plan on now sewing some of my weaves, such as towels and maybe clothing. I feel like I have stepped back in time and living like my ancestors, doing things by hand. I am a retired nurse and since 1 yr now (been retired 4 yrs), I have found new passions and hobbies and I listen to classical music while weaving again stepping back in time. It is nice to do stuff with my hands. I love your videos, this one I so understand. I bought a lot of 8/4 cotton online, but it does not compare to those you buy from a weaving store. My dad told me 2 weeks ago, that it was always my moms dream to own a weaving floor loom, something I never knew, maybe she passed on her pasion to me in a sense, I now do like she did, I knit and weave and give some away, I have the dun doing them and others are benefitting from it, my dad told me my mom always gave away stuff she made by hand also, he is happy I decided to go on this journey and continue what my mom started with her yarns. Well back to passing my warp into the heddles now, to make my spouse an acrylic blanket, where he does not mind if I practice different patterns, the blanket will be my own creation lol, which he loves. He wears my hats and slipper socks and other stuff I have made, we gave a lady he works with a set for her newborn premie niece of booties and mitts and hat and lovey blanket with a oty animal head attached to the blanket, it fit the premie as very hard to shop for them, those were done on round looms.

Great advice. As you were saying, I am thinking about my next project well before the current one comes off. Slowing down, thinking and analyzing would help immensely. Thank you.

I'm somewhere between starting a notebook (with more detail than the one I have) and just starting the next project. At least I measured and recorded the completed weaving before and after washing! Describing the hand is tricky. I need better words.
