Andy is top tier for Sinatra era crooners. In a class with Tony Bennett and Perry Como. And his Christmas specials are sensational. Andy gave me many holiday memories 👍🏻

This song went to #9 on the Billboard top 10 charts in 1970. Right up there with the greatest classic rock and R&B artists of the era. Says a lot about the diversity of music back then. The song (music ) is from a huge hit movie at the time called "Love Story". Lyrics were eventually put to it, Andy recorded it, and the rest as they say is history. "Maria" by him from the movie "West Side Story" will melt your heart.

You gotta see the movie, "Love Story" from which this song was drawn. Ryan O'Neil plays a rich but average student who is challenged by poor but smart Ali McGraw, who works at Harvard's magnificent Widener Library...or maybe it was Radcliffe. In time they fall for each other...and that's all I'll say. Unlike many movies, this one is actually filmed at Harvard, which is kinda romantic in the snow.

I am a much older man, and my Andy Williams albums that I bought when I was a young man are still some of my favorites. I love a wide variety of music and have collected a massive album collection over my life, but the older music from the 60s will always be my favorite.

My mother and I watched The Andy Williams Show every week 1962-1970 l loved it. Love Story top movie of 1970 the music won Acadamy Award, the movie was very sad😢. Peace and Love ❤ Gary

In 1970 some (54) years ago. Author Erec Segal wrote a semi auto biographical book about the love of his life who had succumbed to cancer at a young age titled "Love Story Where do I Begin." They turned the book into a blockbuster movie starring "Ryan O'neal and Allie McGraw" titled "Love Story." Then came the song of the same name written by Danny Nikk Might and Bell Merrell and sung masterfully and beautifully by the king of the movie themes. Legendary crooner the late great Andy Williams. Later Andy Williams will host his own weekly television show titled "The Andy Williams Show" on NBC. The rest as they say is history. Florida USA.

Theme song from a very famous movie Love Story with Ryan O'neal and Ali McGraw (who steals the show), and it's in my Top 5 best old crooner anthems for me. "A Time For Us" by Johnny Mathis (many many people have recorded it but I like his the best, and Mr. Williams track is so good too) from Romeo & Juliet is another Top 5. The melody on these are just ethereal and yet powerful.

I remember that in 1968 Andy Williams had a hit with the 19th century song Battle Hymn of the Republic (Glory, glory, hallelujah). It was recorded during the funeral of senator Robert F. Kennedy, who was murdered five years after his brother, President John F. Kennedy, was killed. I was not yet 10 years old, but was impressed by the music.

Andy had his own television show for many years and had many guests that he would sing live with ......one of these guests were A very Young Simon And Garfunkel and they do a Brilliant live version of Scarborough Fair ..... Love Your Reactions Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺

Going back to the Andy Williams era, be sure to listen to Ed Ames singing "My Cup Runneth Over". It was played regularly on Top radio, and was my wife's grandmother's favorite song.

He married in 1961. When he recorded this in December 1970, he was already separated from his wife. They divorced in 1975. He remarried in 1991.

This channel is going in a bit of a odd direction……dear Mr Williams twice in one week. Andy Williams has a lovely voice and my mom and grandparents LOVED him. And yeah, I like Moon River too. But, I’m 77, and this music seems old even for me. I did send a $thanks months ago and requested live Whole Lotta Love from MSG ‘73 but so far…………And now, upon investigating, I found that your song request application shows “sold out”. "???? . Really would like to know how to send a request and how much. I LOVE you both and your channel. I guess I’m a bit frustrated and don’t know how to proceed in order to be heard???
