@@Gwolf303 Those small in game tidbits really give a sense of scale... As if you had held their weapons as they were brandished, knew just how deep the impact on the dragon's scales had been, and that makes you fully understand just how BAD things suddenly got. Man, I love rpgs haha.

The Whispered One actually did honour the bargain, he revived Sylas in the first place, it's not his fault Delilah couldn't keep Sylas alive,

Exactly, if anything it was the Briarwoods having to fulfill their end of the bargain. In exchange for reviving Sylas, Delilah had to bring him into the world.

The Orthax fight is a peak moment of everyone looking at what would work better for a show over an RPG. There are a bunch of smaller changes, but that fight really leans into the strengths of the different medium

Honestly, Delilah was pretty evil even before The Whispered One, and she's not like possessed or under control, she made a deal and she did her part of that bargain. She did everything because she wanted to. But now she's acid and wont ever bother anyone again.

The smoke is literally in his eyes and its showing him the monsters still actively tyring to hurt his sister and himself. Right as he wrestles back control one of his eyes returns to normal, both are immediately clear after shooting his hand.

You seemed surprised at how much the finale focused on Percy, so I'll provide some meta-information that I don't consider a spoiler. Matthew Mercer, the DM of the original game, has a habit of sorts born out over both completed campaigns and I expect to be in the third as well, where we sorta take turns focusing on the backstory/issues with a single character. This entire season was Percy's arc. It was all *about* Percy, the other characters just had some character development along the way. The next season should also mostly focus on the backstory and issues with another character (it'd be a spoiler to say who it's likely to be).

Exactly, in both completed campaigns every player got to have the focus of the narrative for a time. This was actually the first time they did that, Percy was literally the first to get a story thread focused on him rather than the group's actions as a whole. Prior to that it was the group got hired for a mission or the group found out about a threat. Percy was just the first time Matt pushed to explore one character's backstory and weaved the narrative in such a way to have the others eventually follow suit. In the months since your comment we're even starting to see it in C3 now.

Grog got knocked out from Delilah's first black-beam blast down the staircase. Everyone else dodged, he tried to hit it with his axe. If you defeat a necromancer who routinely raises the dead, throwing their body into an acid pool is a good idea. That animation choreography for episode 11 was GOAT-tier.

So many good episodes. If I have to pick a favorite episode I’d probably say episode 5 it’s the one I’ve rewatched the most. Start at Gilmore’s, then a epic chase scene, end at the sun tree reveal. So good.

Personally, I love Keyleths rejecting Vax. Mainly because he says the thing his player said all the time in the actual game, "and I walk away", but also because it's a subversion of expectations twice now. You expect the "happy couple" to have some big kiss when one confesses to the other in the giant battle where they think they wont survive, and Keyleth subverts it with her initial reaction. Then when everything is smoothed over and he brings it back up you expect her to say that she felt the same way.

I think that's one of the things the series improves on over the campaign. In the campaign it felt a little out of nowhere, and rushed. Here they're giving it time to develop and grow.

My favourite moments are in episodes 9 and 11. Pike's entrance and Keyleth's Sunlight were absolutely epic and I watched them over and over again in reactions, getting more hyped each time. My favourite episode in general is probably episode 3 because of how it shifts the tone to introduce the more serious and dark Briarwood ark.

Going back to the Vex/Gilmore discussion, the only thing other than holy water that can stop a vampire is sunlight, but you'd need a lot of it. I just love the fact that that conversation came back around.

@@elbruces we got a lot of it, all right. second best thing to a personal visit from the DawnFather. :) by rights, pure sunlight should have done nothing to Grog, but I think the fact the blast scored him speaks to it's insane power. :) The Sun Tree wanted that booger GONE. for a mellow creature, it's best not to mistreat it. :P

I figure the Sun Tree then instead saw to it most of the power was focused on the vampire. (depictions I remember of that spell would seem to have been rather wider. :) )

They ended with the dragons flying in, because that was the start of next major story arc in their game. They might be able to get a few seasons out of dealing with those dragons. That arc took a long time in the game.

It was fun seeing you watch and appreciate LoVM without knowing the story beforehand, and the way you called some of the beats as they happened I think shows just how well done this show was. As someone who seems to appreciate the process you might want to watch the "LoVM watch parties" on their KZfaq channel where Micah Burton interviews three cast members and someone from Titmouse and they discuss what was involved in bringing this to life.

Ep 11: If you line up the lyrics of "Your Turn to Roll" (the Critical Role theme song that the main theme in LoVM is based on) in the sunbeam scene, Keyleth destroys Sylas on the line "villains beware 'cause you're 'bout to be dead." Ep 12: Percy put his hand over the barrel, putting himself between Orthax and Delilah, shedding his own blood to save her. THAT is what drove the demon out: an ultimate expression of him letting go of his hate and desire for revenge.

11 and 12 were a tough call to pick a fav, but 11 had me in tears watching Keyleth break out of her timid fear of using her magical abilities (also that music was 100% perfect for it), however 12 just had so many good shots of camera angles and play with the demon and watching Percy struggle between reality and the demon was also such a relatable fight in that we all have these internal battles. I think they do a good job of making things fantasy, but also relatable feelings. I remember watching the original campaign and seeing it animated just gave me a new love for the depth of what Percy was dealing with, mentally, that perhaps wasn't able to show as strong in the tabletop game as it is in animation.

season two was allready set from the start originaly they were given 10 eoisodes then the head of amazon before even airing season 1 ep 1 saw what the show was and asked for 14 more episodes that includes ep 11-12 and 12 episodes for season 2 if that one goes well a third season will likely be anounced

Yeah, EP 11 was my favorite as well, the music ramp up when Keyleth was channeling the power of the Sun Tree, absolutely epic. As for the dragons at the end of EP 12. So hard to rank the episodes. I'll say 11, 12, 9 & 4 as my top four in that order. Ask me tomorrow that might change. The end of episode two where they kill the dragon holds a special place in my heart as a long time critter. Although not the best episode I think that is my favorite moment. My favorite relationship is Grog and Pike and episode 4 is the one that shows it best along with the scary wraiths. That is why that is in my top 4.

The reason the Whispered One didn't cross over is because Delilah didn't complete the ritual. It required a sacrifice and she didn't provide one.

Spoiler alert for the actual campaign and thus possible future seasons of the animated series. You have been warned. In the post campaign discussion where the players get to ask Matt the DM any questions they had about things from the campaign, they actually asked about this moment and what would have happened if the Briarwoods succeeded in their ritual. He reveals that *they did succeed*. Vox Machina pushed the time table up too soon and thus Vecna didn't quite come back to full power immediately as intended, but they did succeed in having him cross over. He just then proceeded to fuck off and abandon Delilah as she had fulfilled her purpose.
