Kerber is a wall and is a challenge to all aggressive players because she makes them hit more errors than usual. It seems like kerber is weaker against players who play defense like her. She has a horrible record against Svitolina, who is also a counter puncher.
@jermainecase91095 жыл бұрын
I would say Osaka plays better on slower surfaces. Indian Wells and US Open were slowed down this year. I think it's just that she lacks patience against players who get all these balls back.

This was the match of the tournament so far and both played really solid tennis. I don’t see how anyone couldn’t love both players and they are each exciting to watch and bring something different to the court. An in form Sloan’s is also pretty devastating. Kerber vs Stephens will be a very tough match. Outside of that, none of the other players brings a whole lot of exciting tennis to the court in this year’s event.

@moviefan4life1665 жыл бұрын
Woz is the golden retriever! Kerber has more offense but yeah I agree that Kerber’s defensive skills are prob better than anyone in tour. I think she deserves more credit for her offense though. Her angles, passing shots and flat winners down the line are seriously impressive and offensive. I consider her an aggressive baseliner with great offensive and defensive ability.

Isabella Lee literally hitting hard is what you need to do to win. how do you think she won the US Open, making to the finals at the Japan Open, semi’s in Shanghai & Beijing? by hitting soft? LMAO. she’s only 20 years old, she can improve her net game. if you actually watched this match, you can see that Kerber was making her uncomfortable by pulling her to the net on her backhand side-yet she showed some decent net skills. again, Naomi’s only 20 but she showed so much improvement from just 8 months ago...improving in such a short time span, it’s pretty easy to conclude that she’s only going to get better and thus start dominating the tour
@paperwait96115 жыл бұрын
@deepak mahajan: one of the things that naomi does really well is redirect the ball. in this match she did tend to stay in cross court rallies. i think that had a lot to do with kerber, who is very good at running down balls. so, if naomi had followed up a cross court shot with a down the line shot, there was a good chance that kerber would have been able to get to the ball. i think that naomi was trying to build the point by either hitting a sharp cross court angle, or by getting kerber so out of position that she could have gone down the line. what naomi did do was hit behind kerber, which seemed to be a more effective strategy.

From the start I said that Osaka is being over hyped. People were prematurely claiming she’ll be unstoppable. Now they’re saying she’s “only 20.” Seles had won 3 slams by age 20. Serena had won 2 in an era of legends like Graff, Henin, Davenport etc. We can’t predict the future. Osaka is good but let’s not get excited.

i thought that this match was on naomi's racket. she showed significant improvement over her first game against sloane; she controlled her emotions better and she stayed in the match. it's the flashes of brilliance that make her game so exciting to fans. as she gets more accustomed to being a top player and playing in high profile tournaments, i expect that she will improve her consistency and handling of her nerves. she did it at the US open, so she just needs to continue to improve and the consistency will follow.

She should try to emulate Sharapova or Pliskova?!?!? When was the last time either of them won a major grand slam? LOL. There are many others she can emulate, or she can just continue being herself while improving her game.
@nathanlarkin98905 жыл бұрын
TheTruthseeker1970 You obviously didn’t read my comment right, I meant emulate their attitude, Maria is the most focus player, she’s never smashes a racquet before and I’m sure you’ve heard the name pliskobot, I’m sure any player would like to have an attitude like Maria or Karolina because they are so cool and calm and that’s why Maria has won the slams she has won today. I didn’t say Osaka had to copy them, but looking up to a more experienced player other than Serena could help her because Serena is not a perfect tennis player and none of them are, but you can pick and choose parts if different players games to emulate and if your looking to emulate someone with good mind set Sharapova and Pliskova are the pinnacle of WTA.

@petertongco24875 жыл бұрын
I think you're speaking to everyone who is in a GRAND SLAM FINAL. Anyone will go the extra mile to win regardless if it's Serena on the other side of the court. And you're right, she has not won a tournament after the US open, but did you even bother checking her results? Final in Japan, Quarters in China. And quick tip, after winning the US open, Sloane did not win any matches in Asia. Garbiñe and Angelique had a much harder time dealing with tournaments after they won their maiden ones as well.

I totally agree with your comment she really wanted to beat Serena she said so..... she put every bit of her power in to beating Serena mentally and physically but for some reason she can't find the strength to beat other top players..... go back to her interviews and listen the only person she's really concerned about beating was Serena! She mastered that but what's next......
@paperwait96115 жыл бұрын
@samuel williams: i think that your comment is wrong on several levels. first of all, naomi was dialed in during the US open. she went through the draw like a wrecking ball. her toughest match was actually the 4th round match against aryna sebalenka, where naomi was not only playing against sebalanka, but against the psychological barrier of getting past the 4th round. next, contrary to your attempt to reflect naomi's results in a negative light, she has actually had good results since winning the US open. she has been, as a matter of habit, getting deep into tournaments on a more consistent basis. the pressure on naomi has been much greater than the pressure that was on sloane after sloane won the US open. naomi has become an international celebrity outside of the world of tennis. yet, she is still producing good results. it is just hard to reasonably find negatives in what naomi is doing. but it does appear that you are trying your best!

Showing frustration was not the problem with Serena. Her intent to win every match and her obvious disappointment when she fails is one of the things people love about Serena. Just don’t break the rules. Also, I think Osaka always understood Serena’s frustration. Every tennis player does.

Osaka’s backhand is so fucking bad so many ugly errors that gave away so many easy points to kerber... she needs to take a look at djokovic backhand and learn

Naomi's gonna be naomi. Shes not trying to be anyone else but herself. If she achieves as much as the GOAT that would be great buts she would do so with her own game and determination.

Jesus love you, he died on the cross for you, accept him as your lord and savior he can change everything. For God so loved the world that he gave his only son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life" (Jn 3:16" But you must repent too. From that time Jesus went about preaching and saying, Let your hearts be turned from sin, for the kingdom of heaven is near. (Matthew 4:17)~

Naomi needs a sports psychologist. Her technique game and physical ability are superior to pretty much all these other athletes but she is very mentally weak, regardless of age. Her shot selection and strategy could also use a lot of work

I'm sorry but i hate kerber's style of play! Her technique is really bad and she's only defending in order to wait for a fault from her opponent...
