I loved Bloodlines because they gave more backstory than ever before. It showed creating the boxes creation. That was worth the movie right there.

I thoughy angelique was an old school demon of hell apart from the labrynth. From my understanding the hell of the labrynth is NOT the hell of lucifarian judeo christian text. It was a realm all its own.

I have to say that bloodlines is much better than Hell on Earth it's actually one of my favorites next to the original it opens up the story line way more. And honestly I like the concept that they play with a building that is the lament configuration encounter configuration. And magic being classed down by bloodlines for obviously the creation of these configurations is some form of magic.

The actress Valentina Vargas is what I would call beautiful and smart, she speaks three languages fluently. She is of course no longer a young woman, but she is a lady. Hard to imagine her as a person versus the character Angelique, especially after she was turned into a Cenobite.

I wish they would've done more with Angelique.

Its a shame Clive Barker did have more involvement in the later films . His story telling talent could have made a big difference .

I personally like Bloodlines as it does provide a backstory for the origins of the puzzle box. The demon turned cenobite Angelique was a nice embellishment.

I actually invoke Leviathan during rituals but as a sea serpent not a giant floating thingy that is into torture porn, but Clive Barker always interprets everything uniquely.

Bloodline was my favorite one. Seeing PinHead get his ass kicked and outsmarted by what looks like a Buddhist monk was great. I'm just not a sadist that roots for the serial killer in these type of films, I guess.

I saw Bloodline in the theater when it first came out. I enjoyed it. Not the worst. Better than Hellraiser 3, and WAY better than every Hellraiser movie that came after it.

Worst of the series? Loooool, I love all of them, but this is one of my favorites. 1, 2, 6 (cause I love Kirsty), 4, 8, 3, 5, and 7...I don't count the others, lol. Honestly, 5 and 7 are pretty interchangeable for me for last place. Though, now I want to rewatch them since been so long.

I see only total and complete PAIN. If you see another thing then you see a fraction of HUMANITY.

The doctor guy who became that crazy monstrosity of a thing in hellraiser 2 had the potential to be one of the scariest horror villains of all time in my opinion.

In the film's credits "Dir: Alan Smithee". The 4 directors of this movie did not wanna be accredited for the film as it lead to "straight to video" franchise. There were 3 directors for each time period of the movie and one director for the Cenobites scenes. Dimension Films is a Weinstein company and they treated the franchise like a joke as some sequels launched the career for others like Adam Scott (this movie) and Henry Cavill (Hellraiser: Hellworld).

Honestly loved Bloodlines, and I'm still glad to say I got to catch it in the theater when it released. Sure it had its flaws, but the concepts behind it alone were fantastic. After seeing a behind the scenes making of feature on it and realizing what they went through with the director and the company, its surprising what we got was as good as it is anyway.

I just watched "Bloodlines" for the first time ever. I love the first 2 and thought the 3 was ok. Inferno was boring and somehow missed this one and never watched the other ones. I LOVED this one. I was worried seeing that part of it was set in the future but I thought they did a good job with that and not made it into a corny sci-fi movie vs Pinhead.

I would consider Inferno,Hellworld,and Revalation the worst in the series not Bloodline

My theory is Angelique was a real human princess, thus her nickname. She was like Frank, jaded in life, except instead of using the puzzle box, she practiced black magic and called the cenobites of that era and got "recruited" as a Hell Priestess in the same role Pinhead serves. When the duke summons her back from Leviathan's dimension through human sacrifice, she is skinless, no longer a cenobite, much like Frank and Julia were when they were brought back to life. These resurrected beings are different from Cenobites. Cenobites are tethered to Leviathan's dimension, they're more like aliens than undead. Resurrected beings like Angelique, Frank, and Julia are living, they don't age because of magic, but can be killed again like Frank was. Anyways, Pinhead kills Angelique in the modern day, and she is once again recruited, transforming her back into a leather-clad maimed cenobite under his command that we see in the future setting. If she were Leviathan's daughter, why would she have a cenobite form? Wouldn't she just look like a grotesque monster? I think that backstory is much more intriguing than her just being a real demonic "princess". Giving Leviathan a daughter kinda ruins its mystique.

Didn't really reveal or explain anything about Angelique that the film doesn't show. Seemed more like a quick outline on the movie. I'd have liked more detail on how her being a demon makes her different, how she became a Cenobite, why Leviathan allowed her to become one etc.

I am a die hard Hellraiser fan. And yeah, this installment isn't the best but I still enjoy it. I think maybe for the casual watcher it won't be that fantastic. But if you enjoy and are invested in the Hellraiser mythos, you're still gonna enjoy this film. :)

I actually liked this one. Too me, it wrapped up the first 4 (and only) Hellraiser Movies. The ones that came after are sorely lacking. I liked how it followed the descendants of the man who created the box.

id say of the 4 theatre release this one was slightly more in tone with the first two, placing this one as the third best for me, i enjoy it more than "hell on earth". though it was confusing with her in modern times, i was under the impression she was starting to turn on pinhead.

Actually Bloodline was an excellent sequel cut too short by the greedy producers who took the final cut away from Director Kevin Yeager so as to keep Pinhead on the screen with greater frequency for the fans. Yeager took his name off the picture in protest. A sweeping horror epic was reduced to nothing more than a cliche exploitation film.

Why does the narrator claim this is the worst in the series, from 4 onwards are all the worst. Even Doug chose not to play Pinhead (in one of them) because thoses films were shit.

Angelique is by far my favorite Hellraiser character. So much so, in fact, that I plan to name my future daughter after her (if I have one).

I read The Scarlet Gospels last year. The Death of Pinhead! Where the fuck is my movie adaptation? At the end of the book, I felt I had finally solved the puzzle.

You have got to be kidding... How in the flying FUCK is Bloodlines considered to be worse than Hellworld & Revelations?! I know Bloodlines is certainly far from perfect, but it still has effort, and though it's ambition clearly outstepped it's budget, they still managed to pull off some decent effects (Chattering dog that blatanty wasn't CGI, anyone?). And for crying out loud, that film has a completely unique dynamic between Pinhead & Merchant/The Toymaker(s). There's never actually been anyone who dared to go against hell itself & act like any kind of equal to the cenobites. Despite the theatrical release not being nearly as good as it could've been, they still pulled off a 'Yin & yang' deal nicely, considering the cenobites are more a twisted force of nature than anything. Seriously, I just... HOW?! How is it the worst one?!?!

What? Bloodline is one of the best of the series. 3 is terrible. 6 is dull 8 and 9 are silly but this really well made.

I definitely wouldn't say this was the WORST sequel. I'd take it over most of the sequels that followed. The one thing this film has going for it is it continues the story set in the first three films and then it concludes that story. Every subsequent sequel is a self-contained story.

I really liked Bloodline. It wasn't a perfect film but I felt it had a better pace and better story than the films that came later. And I think it was well cast, too.

It gets a bad rap and is one of the few movies that got the Alan Smithee pseudonym when a director takes their name off a movie but its pretty ambitious in scope spanning centuries and introducing new characters. I'll watch it whenever its on tv

Because, imo, _all_ of the direct to video Hellraisers that were not originally written as Hellraiser films were worse than any of the first four films in the series. Cheers.

Hellraiser bloodlines was one if not my favorite of all the hellraisers I don't understand how you cannot love the architects of the configuration lament box and therefore becoming the blueprints to the spaceship box that eventually kill the prince of pain (pinhead).

hellraiser bloodline is awesome, one of my favourites from the series.

I think this series should get less cenobite/monster focused, and more inline with the first movies humanistic qualities.

The 1700s stuff is really compelling to me and should have been explored and expanded on instead of the space nonsense we got.

I suspect this could have been better as two movies. Part 1: Lemarchand's cube development, demon summoning, introduce Pinhead and Angelique and their dominance conflict. End part 1 with modern John's wife sending the two of them back. Part 2: The Lemarchand timeline refines their Elysium configuration while Pinhead and Angelique establish dominance, then fast forward to the dominant Pinhead and Cenobites vs. Paul Merchant in the end. Similar to the actual movie, but would have allowed more elaboration (visuals) on the changes in Hell, Pinhead vs. Angelique conflict, the rules/nature of Hell, and better Cenobites - that don't rely on their targets 'standing frozen in horror' to be able to kill them (the Siameses).

Never liked that the box was made by French toy maker. It seems much older and the glyphs look more Mesopotamian, Greek and Hebrew. This film however could have been great had the director Kevin Yeager been allowed final edit, which is why he removed his name from the movie.

Angelique the Demon Princess loves chaos and disorder. Has the Elysium Configuration always been chaotic and disorderly? Shouldn't any realm have some kind of order? And has anyone tried to usurp Pinhead?
